Good morning! I hope your Wednesday has started on a great note. I only have a few minutes to chat before I need to get out the door, so I’m going to dive right into yesterday’s eats for What I Ate Wednesday.
Have no idea what I’m talking about? Check it out!
What I Ate Wednesday Tuesday
Breakfast started as soon as I got up, which is usually the case. Without much motivation to make anything creative, I turned to one of my favorite fiber cereals.
Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal topped in blueberries. And coffee. Duh.
I left the house around 9:30 a.m. and spent the next hour and a half at the gym training. I hurried back home as soon as I could get out to be able to finish that morning’s blog post that didn’t happen.
That’s when I realized it’s way to cold out this week. Anything below zero is just not okay.
I walked in the door around 11:30 and settled on a snack while I got back to the computer.
Black Cherry Greek yogurt topped with Van’s Blueberry Walnut granola
I had several issues formatting my post, spent some time trying to trick paragraphs and bullet points through HTML copy and pasting, and it ended up taking a total of four hours to write. Sigh. Some of the joys that come with blogging aren’t all awesome.
I finally wrapped things up around 2:30 p.m., and I was hangry. Since we have been gone, there wasn’t much to work with in our pantry or fridge. Another soup over noodles meal hit the spot!
Amy’s Organic Cream of Mushroom Soup over whole wheat spaghetti
I spent the next couple of hours catching up on emails and communicating with clients. I even had a quick virtual chat with a prospective client all the way in Holland! That seems so crazy to me. But wonderful.
I decided to go back to the gym to be able to concentrate on putting workouts and plans together, and brought an apple as a snack on the drive over.
Seriously though.
Houston… I want to go baaack.
I left the gym confident in my work for the day around 8 p.m. I was pretty hungry again, so I picked up a sub and salad from Quizno’s for Scott and I to enjoy when I got home. That was the plan anyways. I wanted to sneak in a quick workout, so I tried out an at-home dumbbell circuit I put together for a client.
I loved it, and will be sharing a similar version of it on the blog soon!
Before I even made it back upstairs, I heard Scott come home and instantly take a serious tone with Roadie.
Despite my efforts to push our bag of dinner out of his reach, he got up onto our kitchen counter, drug the bag to the floor, and went to town. I finished my workout, walked upstairs, and all that was left of an 11″ sub and chicken cobb salad was lettuce and a few tomatoes. That dog. Wow.
Still ridiculously hungry without much to work with, Scott and I hopped in the car and made a drive over to YAYA’s. There is barely anything open past 9 p.m. around our neck of the woods, so a shredded chicken salad from YAYA’s it was.
I quickly realized that my salad literally consisted of chicken and lettuce, so I found a couple more (random) ingredients to add to it and called it a day.
Even though the salad was the size of my head, I still wanted something else. I opted for a tall glass of Dark Chocolate Almond Milk and rounded it all out with a slice of whole wheat toast topped in chocolate peanut butter for dessert.
Yum!
I truly apologize if this post is filled with typos. I need to get out the door and onto the doctor’s office for an annual check-up and really don’t have time to proof-read. Yikes… *fingers crossed* we’re good. I will see you again later this afternoon!

Question of the Morning
• Which is better: regular or chocolate peanut butter?
Courtney
I really need to buy some dark chocolate almond milk. It always looks SO good, and I just never think to get it when I’m at the store!
Heather
I swear by it and have a glass of it or unsweetened almond milk every single night!
Catherine Cormier
I see that Roadie like to “counter surf” too!! We have a husky that likes to do that. We’re really good about making sure that anything on the counter that could tempt her is pushed back or hidden but sometimes she still manages to grab it when we’re not looking! So annoying but it’s hard to get mad at them 😛
Heather
Haha oh yeah, he’s gotten so much worse lately too! I think he’s just mad he can’t go outside as much in the frozen weather. It’s his way of “getting back”… I got really mad at him last night, but it didn’t seem to last too long. Little stinkers!
lordstilllovesme
I am loving this new layout Heather! Your blog is beautiful. 🙂 I don’t think I have ever seen someone put blueberries in cereal before, but that may just be my lack of observation haha. I’ll have to give it a shot sometime!
Heather
Thank you so much! I love the new layout too. It’s so much easier to navigate! You should totally try the blueberries 😉
Amy M4gic
Roadie!!! Growing up, our golden retriever was guilty of doing the same thing. I’ll never forget the time he devoured an entire order of thai food while we were all in the other room. I don’t seem to have the same problem with my cats! Haha.
Heather
Oh geez! I totally feel you there. I’m actually shocked we haven’t had to get his stomach pumped before!
Miss Polkadot
Mmmh, you just sparked a craving for some blueberry Greek yogurt with granola here. Only I have no blueberries at hand.
Oh, and as I’m a first time reader: hi! Your blog looks great.
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance
That’s hilarious about Roadie. I’m sure it wasn’t at the time but looking back I always laugh at the things my pup has managed to sneak off the counter. I once came home to 8 raw sweet potatoes missing from the counter and bites of it all over the ground. She ate 8 sweet potatoes at 4 months old haha. She’s eaten entire loaves of bread, cookies straight from the oven, flowers in a vase, etc. Gotta love them though 🙂
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
That Amy’s soup/pasta combo sounds yummy!!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
I’ve never thought of combining pasta with soup, but I’m intrigued and now I want to try it!
Chocolate peanut butter vs. regular peanut butter?!?! Ahhh, tough question. I can’t answer that one straight up. It totally depends… If I’m wanting something sweeter, than definitely chocolate PB, but otherwise traditional PB for PB&J, atop oatmeal, etc.
Heather
Haha, I would probably answer the same exact way 😉
Tricia @ A Couple Of Dashes
Oh my gosh! Naughty puppy! I like your idea of combining pasta and soup! Yummy! I love cream of mushroom soup so I’ll have to give this a try!
Heather
You would love it!
Ellen
I love Honey Clusters! I’m jealous you found good blueberries this time of year. And hmmm… chocolate vs. regular peanut butter is a tough one! You really just can’t go wrong with peanut butter 😉
Heather
Agreed!!
markmymiles
Oh No! Something similar like that happened to us with our dog. Good thing it wasn’t a Thanksgiving dinner or something that he got a hold of! Your soup and noodles combination looks so comforting and yummy, going to make some today for lunch.
Heather
Right? There have been times where I walked upstairs to find chocolate all over the floor after I hid it on top of the fridge. Explain that one! Dogs are crazy!
yogawinechocolate
I have never actually had chocolate peanut butter! I must try it! 🙂
Heather
Yes! You should! 😉
Stacy @ Sweating Tulipz
I love making my own dark chocolate almond milk with unsweetened 5 X Protein almond milk and natural cocoa and stevia. It is the best bedtime snack!
Heather
Yum, that sounds delicious!
peasandcrayons
Ohmygosh I’ve been eying that soup at the grocery store lately for lazy days! I’ll have to check it out! <3 Thanks for keeping up with the craziness, love – the party will be back on next week so I won't be far behind!
Heather
No worries, Jenn! Totally understandable. So glad to hear WIAW will be back in full force <3 I think you'll love the soup!
Danny
Hi Heather, I saw in your post that you have an apple as snack. Apples are my favorite workout snacks. This may sound weird but I put peanut butter on apple slices. It’s delicious.
Heather
That’s one of my favorites, not strange at all!
