Good Morning and (guess what day it is…) Happy Hump Dayyye!
Sorry. I have never really played into the talking camel joke on the blog before, so I felt like it was long overdue.
Anyways, today I am heading out super early for a full day of events and appearances. I have to say, it’s kinda nice to have to be somewhere in the morning for once.
It might sound crazy to some, but I’m really starting to miss working outside of the house on a regular basis. I’m very much looking forward to the day where I can work at a gym or even a studio again and have things to do and people to see every day of the week. (Grass is always greener syndrome, right?)
Jumping back on the What I Ate Wednesday train, this week I have a full day of Tuesday eats to share along with a new weight training workout!
What I Ate Wednesday Tuesday
(Thanks for hosting another week, Jenn!)
Breakfast was an old standard with a new twist.
Nature’s Path gluten free buckwheat waffles smeared in almond butter and sprinkled with hemp seeds.
I just love the extra crunch (and omegas!) in those little guys.
That seemed to keep me satisfied until it was time to meet a friend for lunch. I was excited to reconnect with a charming woman named Pam I met at the women’s retreat last month. I have a feeling this is just going to be the first of many, many meetings for us.
We went to a great new-to-me place in Rochester called the Downtown Cafe, and I ordered the Cobb Salad, minus the blue cheese with the dressing on the side.
I loved the cozy atmosphere and they got thirty extra bonus points for including a homemade blueberry muffin on the plate!
As you can imagine, that kept me happy and full throughout the rest of the afternoon.
Instead of getting back on the computer, I decided to play catch up from being away from home the entire weekend. Don’t you just need days like that every once in a while? I asked Roadie if he wanted to take a personal day, and he was all about it.
Over the next several hours, we folded laundry, changed sheets, cleaned the house, and even cleaned out my side of the closet!
It felt great to be productive on the home front, and even better to gather clothes to donate that have just been sitting there for… ever.
I started getting a tiny rumble in my belly around 4 p.m., so I grabbed a serving of organic apple, banana & butternut squash baby food for a snack.
That’s right. Baby food.
Scoff if you want, but I’m all about the idea of fruit and nutrients in a convenient to-go package.
If you stay away from the scary (meat?) flavors and stick to the fruity ones, I have a feeling you might actually be on board. To me, they all taste like some kind of fancy applesauce, and at times room temperature smoothies if you buy the ones mixed with oats, quinoa, or yogurt.
I also dabbled into a bag of baked pita chips and hummus.
Knowing Scott was on his way home, I wrapped things up and got ready for the gym. I grabbed a berry SOYJOY bar for the ride over and felt geared up and ready for a good work out.
We arrived with just enough time to sneak into Fitness Pilates, but realized it wasn’t our favorite teacher at the front of it. The class was jam packed, so instead of squeezing in and being annoying, we cut our losses and decided to do our own workout in the weights area.
I have to give Scott credit for this one. He has been trying out new workouts recommended by a friend who is a trainer, and I finally agreed to partake in one he threw together.
I have had a weird relationship with weight machines lately. And by weird, I mean non-existent. I don’t know what it is… but I have been so turned off by the machines and all about the free weights, if I use any at all.
We focused on the upper body and superset all of the exercises with a core exercise to make it extra spicy. Get ready for the burn!

• lateral pull downs, assisted tricep dips, side plank holds, military presses, chest presses, bridge hold, bicycle twists.
My favorite type of workouts are body weight balancing and holds (barre, yoga, Pilates), so I have steered clear of the actual weight room for a while. It was nice to get back to the machines.
Come to find out, I missed them.
Just as expected, we fell into our predictable habit of following up with a trip to the hot tub and dinner in the cafe.
A Mocha Madness (organic milk, mocha java boost, whey protein) for Scott and a Whey of Life (organic milk, pineapple, strawberries, yogurt, and whey protein) smoothie for me.
I also got a side of quinoa salad that I’m determined to recreate at home.
We made a few stops on the way home and when we walked in the door an hour later, I finished off that hummus I talked about earlier and topped it all off with a yummy dessert.
Chobani (Flip) Key Lime Crumble Greek Yogurt and a big glass of dark chocolate almond milk.
Key lime Greek yogurt + graham cracker crumbles + tiny white chocolate chips = amaaazing.
After that, the day of food quickly caught up with me and helped me to get upstairs and cozy up into bed.
I’ll be out and about for the majority of the day, but hope to pop in later with the rest of my weekend recap. Because it’s definitely worth sharing. If not today, then by tomorrow morning for sure.
Have a great Wednesday!

My not so bad nighttime snack is fresh fruit and/or a glass of milk. Usually that’s enough to satisfy a craving without leaving me too full.
Heather
I always crave fruit at night! I know it still contains sugar, but hey, fruit is always good in my book 😉
Chrissy @Pink Polish and Running Shoes
My not-so-bad nighttime snack is a smoothie or a little bowl of cereal.
Heather
Mmm, cereal is definitely my weakness!
ranchcookie
I have been making mug cakes, with some protein powder, a little coconut flour, peanut butter and egg whites and I have to say it is satisfying and I even have my family asking for some!
Heather
Whatttt? Mug cakes sound amazing. Thanks for the suggestion!
ranchcookie
Oh no problem! I’m going to have a recipe for my favorite one next week!
ranchcookie
Oh no problem! I am going to be posting a recipe of my favorite one as of lately next week !
Jaclyn @ Bumpsweat
My go-to nighttime snack is PB & banana, has been for years. Enjoy your day out and about!
Heather
Yum! I’d probably also drizzle a little honey!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie
All that food looks amazing! I love unexpected blueberry muffins!
Heather
Unexpected muffins are always the best muffins 😉

I rarely have a sweet tooth, but when I do, it’s usually around 9:30PM. I try to keep dove dark chocolate on hand, since I really can only handle 1-2 of those at a time. Works like a charm: ) And dark chocolate has antioxidants.. or something.. right? 🙂
Heather
LOVE dark chocolate! I usually keep choc chips handy and always, always have it in some kind of milk form on hand. Dove’s dark choc is so good!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
We had a similar day yesterday. I spent most of my day at home getting chores done, laundry folded, and miscellaneous other tasks done. Those days always feel so good and are so necessary for me about once a week.
Your food looks delicious! I’ve never specifically bought baby food pouches for myself, but I’ve tried a little bit of Hunter’s here and there when it dribbles out on my hand and some of them aren’t half bad. I call them a “glorified applesauce”, so I could totally see why you’d like them as a little snack. 🙂
Heather
I really can’t imagine not having those little pouches around these days. Lifesavers when I’m in a lunch and need a healthy boost of energy. Let me know if you end up buying them (for you!) 😉

What is one of your favorite not-so-bad-for-you snacks to have at night? Gotta say I’ve been pretty good with the night time snacks, it’s just the day time! I’ve been trying to eat really clean the past few weeks, but of course if I had to choose a snack, it’d be popcorn. I’m so obsessed.
Heather
Popcorn. SO good!

I love love love salads with a side of carbs. There’s a place where I live that has the best salads served with a fresh baked cheddar chive biscuit yuuuuum.
Heather
Umm, that sounds delicious. Anything with cheddar and biscuits… I’m all for!
cleaneatingveggiegirl
I am seriously going to start buying some of those babyfoods for a snack. I have tried fruit flavors in the past and really liked them, so I love that idea!
Heather
I can’t say enough good things about them! Some brands and flavors or better than others, and I’ve found several go to’s I’ve posted on the blog. Definitely anything pumpkin for me!
Alisha's Appetite
Oh my gosh, I love that you and Scott actually get into the hot tub after you workout at your gym. Ours is always there but I never take the type to change and get in there. I just need to do it! And I’m very curious about the baby food snack- I can imagine it tastes just like some fancy applesauce?
Sarah
DARK chocolate almond milk?! I’ve got to find that! And as soon as you figure out a recreation of the quinoa salad, please share. That looks absolutely scrumptious!
Tory
I loooooove those Chobani Flips! The key lime is my favorite, but the banana with chocolate and almonds is really good too! It’s my current favorite sweet treat!
kath617
Heather! Thanks to you, I have been buying baby food pouches and using them as snacks and to get in my fruit and veggies for the day. Sometimes, I have trouble getting in veggies so I will have one in addition to my meal. I’m a believer! However, I’m not quite that comfortable yet eating them in front of people:-)
Heather
That’s great, Kath! I too love that they’re such an easy way to sneak in extra servings of fruits and veggies! And about feeling silly… You should have seen the face my husband gave me the other day when I grabbed a pouch. Hey, just say it’s “fancy applesauce!” 😉
