Good Morning!
Since the last few days have been wedding and anniversary loaded, I am going back to my health and fitness routes by sharing a killer cardio workout today.
Boy, is this one a doozie! I keep this interval routine in my back pocket for days where I want to a serious booty kicking, and last Saturday was the day I tackled it after a year’s hiatus.
Other treadmill workouts I’ve highlighted on the blog include:
• 31 Minute 5K Treadmill Workout
• Minute On, Minute Off Interval Workout
6,7,8 Treadmill Intervals
When trying out any treadmill workout I post, make sure you are doing speeds that make sense for you. Keep in mind that every treadmill is different, and what each m.p.h. speed feels like can vary from machine to machine.
If speeds 6, 7, and 8 are too intense, you can modify this down to a 5, 6, 7 a 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, or any other combination you see fit.
When I say “rest” I mean either walk it out or split your legs on the sides of the treadmill for the allotted time, explained here.
I was gone for about thirty minutes and completely forgot how hard true interval workouts can be. I was a sweaty, sweaty mess.
It just hurts so good – kind of like foam rolling!
*This reminds me, I need to dedicate an entire post on rolling soon. There I said it, so I must now follow through. 😉
Power Breakfast
After any strenuous exercise, especially an intense cardio or weight training session, it’s important to stretch and refuel your body with essential nutrients. My favorite post-run meal is either a healthy breakfast sandwich or some kind of scramble packed with vegetables.
Yesterday I enjoyed a 3 egg scramble made with egg whites, two Morning Star Veggie Sausage Patties (one diced up and one on the side while I was making this!), a small diced tomato and a good amount of low-fat cheddar cheese.
I paired it with half of a sliced peach and have a feeling this will be my exact meal again when I get home from barre later this morning.
Hey, it’s the little things we look forward that keep us moving right?
Questions of the Day
Are you a fan of interval workouts?
What is your experience with results?
As much as I don’t look forward to completing a hard interval workout, I know my body is getting it’s bang for it’s buck with my time spent on the treadmill. When training to try out for a professional dance time I ran intervals every day for weeks and saw immediate results. Whenever I need to jump start a new workout routine or need motivation to get back on the running train, I throw in some intervals. Does it every time!
