Hi there and Happy Friday!
I’m about to head out to work at the studio with a side of the sunrise for breakfast, but I wanted to say hello with a new set of Friday Favorites first. I feel like it’s been a while, no? How the heck are you guys?
It’s been a bit of a doozy in our neck of the woods this week. Skyler came down with a nasty bug on Sunday and is still doing his best to kick it today. The poor guy had scary-high temperatures and completely lost his appetite for several days. He’s on the up and up, but it’s been so sad to witness. I’ll take all of the baby snuggles along the way, but it also took me back to the early days where he was attached to me 24/7 and didn’t sleep more than forty-five minutes at a time. Yowza!
Anyways, beyond the blur of sickness that has consumed our household this week, there have been some highlights worth mentioning, too.

I hope you enjoy reading today’s check-in and I invite you to share some things that you’re looking forward to this weekend in the comments section, too!
A Day in Soho, Beautycounter Sale, and Latest Workouts

This code works on everything, including regimens (it would be a great time to check out that new Countertime line!), makeup, collections, and even holiday gifts. I know I’ll be placing an order later today.

Also, if you’re not sure about where to start, help me help you figure it out! Simply fill out , and I’ll get back to you with customized suggestions on what would work for you. No pressure whatsoever.
This deal ends TONIGHT (10/25) at 11:59 PST, so get shopping!
- weekend with my mom in NYC
Speaking of that photo above, I got to take my mom to the Beautycounter store last weekend, and I had so much fun introducing her to the products. I wasn’t feeling great on Saturday, but we managed to walk around Soho long enough to grab lunch at a great vegan spot called by CHLOE before the retail store, followed by ice cream and park time with Skyler afterward.

There’s always room for Van Leeuwen ice cream, am I right?

After a good amount of time at the park, we packed up and headed back to Brooklyn to settle Skyler in for the night. The next two days ended up being more low-key than we expected with a sick baby, so I’m glad that we at least got one full day of adventures together.

See you again soon, Gramma!
- latest workouts
Here are my latest original workouts, created in real-time at the gym. This isn’t usually my strategy, but it’s what is working for me right now. I’m sure I’ll get to a structured workout plan eventually, but for now, I’m enjoying doing what feels good, and have had a total body focus with cardio and strength training in each one. You can find them under the “Fitness” Highlight on Instagram and screenshot to save them on your phone, too.

Make sure to follow along for more gym time inspiration!
- Grey’s
I don’t think I’ve mentioned how excited I am that Grey’s Anatomy is back on this season. Yes, we are now in Season 16. I say “we” because I started watching the series back in college in Season 1 (!!!) and haven’t skipped a season yet. In fact, I rewatched the entire series while I was home nursing Skyler and am way too invested to stop watching now.
Is anyone else on my same page here? Personally, I can’t wait to finish this blog post so I can see what happened this week! Please tell me that I’m not the only one who is still anxiously awaiting for the next episode to debut. Will there be a Season 17? Only time will tell.

» Cable Machines Versus Free Weights – Which Is Better?
It’s such a loaded question, right? But it’s one that I’ve gotten from plenty of people who are generally curious as to which strength-training strategy is better for them. The short answer is it depends on the person, their goals, and what training level they’re at. Keep reading along for the long, more detailed answer!

Thanks so much for checking in today. I’m really looking forward to a special upcoming trip overseas, and I will be packing up a storm until we leave on Sunday morning. I’ll be sure to share details soon!
Enjoy your weekend!

We recently got a cable machine and I’m a little lost on using it. I would love a more detailed post on the cable machine and photos of what you use for each exercise. I’m use to free weights but excited to mix things up. Thanks!
