[in our elementary school era] 🚌😭

Skyler did great walking into KINDERGARTEN with a big smile on his face this morning. I, however, was a bit of a mess on our walk home. 🥹

It’s wild how fast these 5 years with him have gone … 7 since we moved to NYC and into our apartment, dreaming of the day our kids would someday go to the *awesome* school right down our block. 🏫

That day is today, and I still don’t believe it — feeling allll of the emotions and thanking God for placing us here and for being able to trust His timing through the journey. 🫶🏼 #hbshinnyc

If there's one thing that we have all learned and experienced over the past few years of life during/after a global pandemic, it's that we are all undertaking a substantial amount of stress in our daily lives ... now more than ever. 🤸🏼‍♀️😵‍💫💫 #ad

Stress *is* a normal part of life for everyone! 🚨 BUT …

• Did you know that there is “good stress” (eustress) and “bad stress” (distress), and that we all experience both types on a daily basis?

• Did you know that the key to managing what type of stress our bodies take on can depend on our recovery strategies?

• Did you know that “good stress” becomes “bad stress” when we don’t recover properly and that chronic stress can take a serious toll on our health, performance, quality of sleep, food cravings, hormones, energy and productivity levels, moods and more?

Celebrating 4 Years!! 💄🎊✨

Y’all know I love my @beautycounter products, but let’s circle back to the WHY for a minute.

Even more than the high-quality, high-performing products, I was drawn to this company for the education-first approach and advocacy work. 🤓

Beautycounter actively works towards changing our clean beauty laws and fights to ban more harmful ingredients that any company is allowed to put out for consumers to buy. ⚖️

I took a leap and said “yes” to partnering four years ago, and my goal has always been to document and share my journey in hopes of inspiring you to start your own path to using safer products in the process. What you put on your skin matters, and it doesn’t have to be complicated or filled with harmful chemicals to get the results you’re looking for. (I know it can be overwhelming! 😵‍💫)

Whether you use Beautycounter or not, I’m here to help point you in the direction of where to find a good, clean alternative to current everyday products that might be questionable.

I’m so thankful for this opportunity – not just for the great discount and commissions, but for the learning process that has enabled me to share about clean beauty with anyone who will listen and provide my family with amazing, effective products.

It’s been a really fun “side gig” to the Life In Leggings blog and business.

THE WATER SANDWICH strategy …💧☕️💧🥤💧🍷💧 Something I do all day, every day to ensure I actually stay hydrated.

DID YOU KNOW your body needs *at least* half your bodyweight in ounces of water per day? (ex: if you weigh 150 pounds, you should aim to get <75 ounces of H2O every day.)

I KNOW. Most don’t realize this, but it’s true.

And this is *minimum* … 😬

Definitely add more to your intake if you live in a hot + humid climate, move or exercise frequently, and want to have killer skin.

I KNOW. But that’s true, too … soooo many benefits to adequate hydration!

Here are a few *quick tips* to up your daily ounces ::

🩵 drink a TALL glass of water before your morning coffee/beverage

🩵 get a large water tumbler and measure intake, refill immediately, track and keep aiming towards the daily goal

🩵 tie it into a routine : drink water every time you use the bathroom or get up from working

🩵 flavor it by adding fruit or veggies (🥒 are my fave) - YUM

It’s been a chill but BUSY summer. I feel like I spend the days doing *all* the things, while simultaneously accomplishing nothing … but isn’t that the definition of parenting, lol? I know I certainly feel that sometimes. 🤹🏼‍♀️🙃 But I know it’s normal and I’m not alone.

It’s been an awesome summer with this dude right

It’s been an awesome summer with this dude right by my side. 😎

The days are *long* sometimes (especially when solo parenting for weeks at a time), but the years are getting *shorter* and have got me feeling all kinds of emotions, realizing this is probably the last season he’ll fit in a running stroller. 🥹

It’s been quieter around this page, and that’s allowed me to soak in this time with him and be fully present with zero regrets.

We’ll be back into a full school and content routine soon enough, but until then, hope you’re doing well out there and see ya soon!

Here are 5 healthy living travel essentials to keep you on track!

🏋🏼‍♀️ Fitness gear and shoes are a given, but don’t underestimate what you can get done with a resistance band or two for hotel room strength workouts. BONUS: they take very little space in your carry-on!

Sometimes you don’t feel like going for a run, but other times you show up, feel awesome and can’t wait to get back out there ✌🏼😎✌🏼 — had to document that high point today bc this wasn’t the case a few weeks ago.

I always feel my best when I’m:

🥤💦 adequately hydrated

🥙🍌 fueled properly

😴👌🏼 running on 7+ hours of sleep

☕️🍷 limiting the caffeine + wine (not restricting, just mindful!)

🧢🧴 wearing sunscreen + a hat to block the harsh sun

… and jammin’ out to a good playlist. 🎧🎶

That’s my recipe for a great workout or run and something to ask yourself the next time you’re not feeling it.
