Top of the mornin’ (or afternoon) to ya!
I hope you all had a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day! In order to honor Scott’s Irish/Scottish heritage, I decided to pull out my green gold hat to celebrate.
Yup…that picture actually happened…but let me explain.
I’m a dancer. I’ve been dancing since the age of 3, met Scott dancing through the NBA, and still continue to perform to this day. Need a girl to show off her best themed dance moves wearing something neon, sparkly, and over the top?
I’m your girl.
St. Patrick’s Day Dinner
I had a fun gig this past weekend, but for this reason I wasn’t home to celebrate St. Patricks Day at home until Sunday. My parents were nice enough to hold off on their Irish infused cooking for another day, and when I got home from Naples we headed straight over to their house for a good ‘ol St. Patty’s Day dinner.
When we arrived, we went to the backyard to see all of the hard work my grandma has been putting into the garden outside. The woman is 94 years old and still keeps up an impressive garden… I can’t believe it!
From growing tomato and pepper plants…
to collard greens, onions and lettuce, my grandma has enough growing to make a salad bar!
My favorite plant of the day was her batch of fresh cabbage.
I always love the fresh (not to mention 100% organic) produce that pops up in meals at my parents house.
When it was time for dinner, I helped my mom put everything together on the table. We started off with all of the classics: a nice green salad (a standard in the Stahl household), pickles, and soda bread.
Next up were all of Scott’s Irish favorites: corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots.
YUM! I love themed dinners. I’m hoping to be in a place next March where I can attempt my own Irish inspired cooking.
After dinner we spent some time looking at our wedding album and pictures we finally received in the mail. Scott and I truly love celebrating the Irish culture and incorporated a few Celtic traditions into our day, including a Handfasting Ceremony.
Get ready to hear more about that and all other elements of our Wedding Day with a new series I’m starting on the blog called Wedding Wednesdays.
Besides getting ready to teach a few of my own barre classes this week, I’ve got a busy week ahead preparing to run a 10K with my mom this weekend!
It’s such a crazy feeling knowing that I can just sign up to run 5+ miles the week of a race, like it’s nothing.
Training for my half marathon has inspired me to set more fitness goals for myself and I’m loving it.
