My goodness it has been a busy few weeks around here!
The last Friday Favorites recap included some of our latest whereabouts while my mom was in town visiting, and the outings just kept on coming with a new set of visitors in town this week.
Since we last chatted, we celebrated Skyler’s third birthday (!!!), made several trips out to Manhattan to spend time with Scott’s family in town, celebrated St. Patrick’s Day and more.
I am currently working on Skyler’s three-year-old update to share here next week, so in the mean time, let’s just dive right in to the celebration recaps with a few other things we should chat about. Thank you for checking in today and Happy Friday to you!
FRIDAY FAVORITES: WEEK OF 3/19
- Skyler’s 3rd Birthday Party
After cancelling Skyler’s second birthday party due to the start of the pandemic last year, we kept plans for this year’s festivities on hold until the last minute … just in case.
As Thursday rolled around, however, Scott and I decided that it wouldn’t hurt to gather the Toy Story decorations that have been sitting in our closet for a year and throw a small gathering at a nearby playground with some of his friends from school and our friends in the area.
We didn’t expect many people to show after I distributed invites just days before, but I think our guests were excited to have something social on the calendar and we were so happy to have a great turnout.
Don’t worry, safety protocols were in place. Everyone wore masks and kept a safe distance from each other. I think the highlight was Skyler getting to eat pizza and mini cupcakes with his friends from preschool, and then hitting a piñata afterwards.
And, of course, his new big boy bike was a hit. We missed his family being there, but feel grateful for everyone who was able to attend and contribute to all of his smiles. He had a wonderful birthday in the park, followed by another “party” at school on Tuesday.
I can’t believe that we officially have a three-year-old!
- Happy Mail & Upcoming Virtual Favorite Things Party
Last month’s Beautycounter virtual pop-up was so fun that we are doing it again. This time, a few of my clean beauty friends and I are talking about all of our favorite clean beauty products! Will your top picks make the list? I’d love you to join the conversation and invite a friend, too!
This will be a casual hang via Zoom next Thursday 3/25 @ 7:30 pm EST. All you need to do is RSVP for the link to join, wear your comfortables and bring your beverage of choice.
There will be several giveaways during the party, and I’m also doing a sample call to send some of my favorites out (to you and/or a friend!) before or after the party.
Please RSVP to heather@lifeinleggings.com or send me a direct message on social if you’re interested in either one. I hope to see you there!
- St. Patrick’s Day 2021
Scott really enjoys celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, as he has some Irish roots in his heritage. We’ve done quite a variety of things to go green and get out on the town throughout the years, and we’ve kept things simple by staying in, too. I guess it just depends on the year!
Regardless of our plans, one thing is for certain and it’s that we will have a traditional Irish meal on March 17th. Last year we made an Irish stew, mashed potatoes, and cabbage, and Scott made his famous Corned Beef and Cabbage this year.
(This picture was taken the day after before I dug into it for leftovers, but you get the idea. Click on the link above for better photos and the full recipe!)
We spent the day at home, then got ready by the afternoon to go meet Scott’s niece and her little family near Central Park before dinner. Going out with kiddos sure is different than the days when it was just Scott and I, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Erin go Bragh!
- fave city outings
Speaking of getting out in the city, this week consisted of several days and nights of exploring. Here are some of the highlights …
We got to spend a lot of time with Scott’s family: Chandler, Morgan and Baby Lincoln. (Skyler was obsessed with him and was the best big cousin!) We had a fabulous meal at Cecconi’s Dumbo with views of the Brooklyn Bridge.
We ate a delicious Italian meal in Little Italy, and we browsed through Eataly.
We made a quick stroll through Central Park.
We made the obligatory stop in Times Square, which was their first time seeing it.
We quickly visited the Rockefeller Center, ate banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery (the best!) and window-shopped as we walked Fifth Avenue and more!
It’s always so nice when family visits, as we don’t have any family members nearby on a regular basis. Skyler absolutely loved hanging with their one-year-old and is still asking to go see him. Maybe one day soon, buddy!
- favorite LIL posts
Since this week’s edition didn’t cover much on the workout front, here are two fitness posts to leave you with some inspo …
» 15 Minute Backyard Bodyweight Workout
I’ve always been a believer in 15 or 20 minutes is better than nothing, and I hope that you’ll agree with this circuit! Try these 4 effective moves with exercise breakdowns and a video included in this post.
» Total Body Strength Workout With Dumbbells
Do this circuit wherever you feel the most comfortable. All you need to complete it is a set of medium dumbbells, and maybe a set of heavier ones for a few moves – if you’d like. It targets all of the major muscle groups and took me about 40 minutes to complete three rounds.
Okay, that wraps things up for today as it’s time for me to get back to Skyler and for us to write more thank you notes for his birthday presents. That is about the extent of our excitement for the weekend, and I am perfectly okay with it after several weeks of being on-the-go.
I’m really looking forward to getting back to studying for my Nutrition Coach Certification and diving deeper into the material. It’s getting really good and so applicable to everyday life. Let me know if you’re interested in joining the Spring enrollment with me (up to 30 – 44% off until 3/24) or chatting more about the opportunity. I’d love to have an accountability partner!
Thank you so much for clicking over to read today, and I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend ahead. Stay safe out there and talk soon!
