Happy Friday the 13th! Whooo… wait, is that “Happy” an appropriate greeting today?
I don’t know about you, but Friday the 13ths have always been a little weird for me. Odd things tend to happen without any kind of explanation. Kind of like when it’s a Full Moon. But, going along with this week of whatever weirdness is happening around here, I guess it fits right in.
I will tell you in confidence that I planned an early morning today. Several hours later, I woke up remembering my phone (with extra alarms) was left at a Subway restaurant before practice last night AND that our heat is broken. Yup… I’m sitting here in our basement working on the computer in two layers of sweats. Shirt and pants, seriously considering putting gloves on… yikes!
Instead of continuing to complain about #firstworldproblems, I am going to turn this day around and celebrate. Because it’s Friday and that’s what we do! Let’s look back at the week and highlight some things that have made me smile with this week’s installment of #FFavorites!
Friday Favorites #15: Week of 12/13
• exchanging Secret Santa gifts
This is something that always gets me in a great mood! This year our team exchanged names and have been surprising each other with gifts before games in December. Mine must know me really, really well.
• Nature’s Gate liquid soap
I picked up a new brand of hand soap to try in our bathrooms and have been loving the smell. Have any of you seen or tried this before?
• a snowy neighborhood
Having a snowy neighborhood to look at through the window counter balances the downfalls of having weather in the single digits this week like bleeding knuckles, constant chapped lips and the almost unbearable wind in the mornings. I swear, having/getting to live with the seasons up north is such a love/hate relationship for me.
Right now I’m trying to take in the little things I would never have been able to experience down south, like building snowmen in my backyard.
• grandma with a sense of humor
I’m sorry… and I realize scaring anyone is pretty cruel, but I can’t stop watching this vine. I die laughing every time mostly because if it were me crossing the path, I would totally spaz and probably lose both milk jugs.
• The Voice Radio
Do any of you listen to iTunes Radio? I have been listening to the Top 100 the last few weeks and couldn’t help but notice how many performances from The Voice end up on that list! Eventually, I just switched over to The Voice Radio, which highlights the last five seasons of performances from both contestants and coaches.
I’m not ashamed to say I love it, either! 😉
• Amy’s noodles, cheese and potatoes
I think it’s safe to say Amy’s Kitchen: Natural and Organic Foods is my current go-to for any warm meal I need in a matter of minutes. This week I tried a new cheesy pasta bowl with potatoes and added some flair by using up the rest of our turkey from Thanksgiving.
It was so, SO good!
• colorful dance wear
You might know this already, but (just in case you don’t…) Reebok has an adorable line of dance wear. I have been able to review out a handful of pieces, and have become slightly obsessed with everything I have. When the company was offering 30% off as part of their after-Thanksgiving sale, I hopped right on that and used gift cards I have been saving up.
I already own this Own Beat Short Bra top in pink, but just had to get the blue version as well. I love how you can tie it in a big bow or even wrap it around front and back!
• performing with Flo Rida
Speaking of dancing, this week is an exciting one for me…
Tonight we are performing with Flo Rida at halftime during the game! We have had rehearsal for it all week and I really can’t wait to get out there and dance. Opportunities like this really make me take a step back and appreciate where I am.
Can’t wait to share more later!
Now it’s your turn…
Happy Friday! 😀
Anna-Marie @Beauty and the Beets
Oh no!! No heat???? AND SNOW??? Happy Friday the 13th!! We’ve had a few issues down here in FL too that I am sure are all related to this day. We love most of the Amy’s products too!!
Heather
YUP! Haha. My fingers have never been so stiff and cracked. It’s fine. There comes a point where you just have to laugh at situations like this… it could be so much worse! 🙂
Cassie Vaughn
So far my Friday the 13th is pretty normal. On the other hand, I can tell by my students’ behavior when there’s a full moon… they act crazy… I probably do to. 🙂
Heather
I mean… since publishing this I already have a few more additions to the “crazy list” lol. This should be an interesting weekend! 😉
Jess
Friday the 13th yes! I was stuck on traffic for an hour, and nothing is going on!
The snowy neighborhood looks beautiful and the Reebok dance wear too!! Have a nice weekend!
Heather
Thanks Jess, you too!
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life
#girlprobs over here for me today. I guess it’s an unlucky Friday the 13th in that respect! 😉 I got up eeeearly and worked out and did laundry, so that’s a positive! Hope you’re not freezing too badly!! 🙂
Heather
Good for you!!! Ha, thanks! I’m out and about now enjoying the heated stores and will return home when the heat repair guy arrives, so we should be all good!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
That’s so cool you get to dance with Flo Rida! Have fun!
Heather
Thanks! He was great… much love for him and his performance!
doubletakelove
We love secret santa gift exchanges! It looks like you got a good secret santa! We love your apron! Is it anthropologie?
Heather
I actually don’t know… looks like it! But if I had to take a guess I would say Home Goods, because that’s where everything else was from!
ErikaMC
I love snow but not the bitter cold and wind that seems to come with it. I’m hoping it is nice enough to go sledding this weekend!
Heather
There’s certainly enough to go around in our neighborhood! Let me know if you’d like to borrow some… 😉
Ashlee@HisnHers
That vine is HILARIOUS! Haha I would do the same thing
Heather
I feel bad laughing, but it seems like she’s a really good sport about it! 😉
SuzLyfe
Um I seriously covet that Reebok bra-top. I wish I had a reason to wear it, but alas, I do not. And it’s in my fave colors. And ps, with all that cold, just dance as if Flo Rida is still around, and you’ll warm up in no time!
You guys up in Mich got the snow before us (I’m in Chicago) but we are getting it today and it is supposed to be COLD tomorrow. You and I are both tiny people. We were not made for such things 😀
Have a great weekend! And check out my #FFavorites! I have some things on there that I think you will appreciate, lol.
Heather
Oh I say that all the time. Plus, I’ve got Florida blood… so it’s a true struggle and takes real motivation to go anywhere when it’s freezing out. Oh, and speaking of Flo Rida – good one… he was awesome!
mallory
I always contemplate Amy’s meals in the grocery store but always pass, but I think I am going to have to give it a try, that pasta looks delicious!
Heather
It was! I love adding things to them too… not like any dish needs to be spiced up, but sometimes it’s nice for a variety!
Heather Murphy
I love living in the south, but one thing I do envy about northern living is being able to experience all of the seasons and not just ‘hot’ and ‘cold’. 🙂 It’s so beautiful!
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables
Oh friend!! I hope your heat is fixed by now! I keep telling my hubby that I want to move some place tropical where there is no season but HOT. lol!
Michelle @ Its the New Twenty
I love that Reebok sports bra! So cute!
