Friday Favorites #161: Week of 9/30
• New Balance gear & Girls Night Out
Last week I attended a Girl’s Night Out event and workout, hosted by New Balance!
I joined by blogging buddies Ashley and Theodora for an evening out to celebrate fitness, and our night started at the New Balance Upper East Side store on Third Ave. From New York to Sao Paulo, Boston to Florence, and Manila to Philadelphia, women around the world united in workouts for #NBGNO.
Our specific location hosted a three mile run as well as a Dynamic Dance workout led by ambassador Krystal Dwyer. It was a blast (and a bit of a cardio challenge) dancing our little hearts out for an hour.
We were provided some pretty awesome swag, including these sneakers (retail: $99). It’s a women’s neutral cushioned running shoe that was built for fast speeds. The mesh on the upper part of the shoe provides softer support while the Fresh Foam bootie-like fit gives off a second skin-like feeling. I wouldn’t recommend wearing them for long training runs, but they have been great for Orangetheory workouts and every day wear.
After the workout, we walked back to the store for healthy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and giveaways. It was a great event!
Along with the sneakers, I’ve been sporting ,, &lately.
The tights are super comfortable, and I love the bunched design on the side. The weather is finally cool enough to wear a jacket on my commutes in the morning and nights and the Novelty Heat Jacket (link above!) is wonderful. It’s incredibly comfy, and I love the woven overlays, asymmetric neckline, and, of course, thumbholes.
Next week, I got invited to a preview at their store and I’m really looking forward to seeing what else is coming out in the near future!
• favorite snacks of the week
Boom.
Have you seen this new flavor of Skinny Pop popcorn? I didn’t believe it either. Also, everything pretzel things are amazing. That is all.
• taking a stab at acting
If any of you follow LIL on Snapchat, then you already know that Wednesday was very out of the ordinary for me. Scott has been hired for acting gigs in the past, but this was the first time that he brought me along on set! Together, we auditioned and were casted to play a married couple on a home renovation show sizzle reel.
(This was the only photo I managed to snap the entire day. Whoops. That’s our reaction to having to pretend we “aren’t on board” with the mansions we were passing in the neighborhood.)
Basically, the show will feature complete home makeovers, and they staged previews of what to expect to see. We borrowed our friend’s car and drove out to a beautiful neighborhood in Creskkill, New Jersey. All of the homes were stunning, and it was challenging to pick apart the “fixer upper” that was worth well over $4 million. We felt so snooty complaining about fixtures and details that wouldn’t really matter! I’m sure anyone who sees it will think that we are extremely pretentious.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to take days off of work to film gigs in the future, but it was fun while it lasted! When in NYC, right?
• our first FitCamp
The new Orangetheory studio that I’m managing is well on it’s way to opening! We started construction a few weeks ago, and we are on track to officially open early-January. In the mean time, I’m staying busy with pre-sales and events for our Founding Members like complimentary FitCamps in Prospect Park!
We had a great group ready to work on Tuesday, and a trainer from our OTF Brooklyn family killed it on the mic! I popped in and out of the workout in order to take pictures and video, but the few circuits that I completed left me sweaty and sore. I felt just as challenged as I usually do in studio classes running and rowing like a crazy person on the treadmills and rowers.
(If you’re in the Park Slope, Brooklyn area give me a shout! I’d love to have you come try a complimentary class at one of our sister studios and take advantage of these free events until we open!)
I’m looking forward to more events coming up, that’s for sure!
• spiked seltzer water
I brought home a little treat to enjoy at home last weekend. Have you ever tried spiked seltzer water?
It comes in different brands, and I usually grab the one you see above or below.
Spiked seltzers became pretty popular around our neck of the woods over the summer, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they stuck around for the fall, too. They are known as a “smarter” alcoholic option for people who want to “feel better” while drinking. It reminds me of a better version of my [insert flavored vodka] and soda water drinks that I often order for that same purpose.
Each 12 ounce bottle or can contains 6 percent alcohol and the SpikedSeltzers only used five natural ingredients. It’s also free of sulfites which is the leading cause of a bad hangover. I’ve been on vodka soda drinks for years because it’s low calorie, low sugar, and also hydrating. I’m loving every flavor I’ve tried thus far. Win!
• 3 Musketeers Reunion
And last, but certainly not least, I’m super excited that two of my best friends from childhood are currently in town visiting!
They arrived last night, and are here to spend the rest of the weekend with me in NYC. I’m so happy they are here, and I can’t wait to show them all around Brooklyn and Manhattan.
We always have the perfect mixture of fun and relaxing times together, and I’ll be sure to recap the highlights on the blog next week. In the mean time, catch up on outings from last year’s reunion that include a day in Scottsdale, Arizona, cabin-ing in Pine, and visiting the Grand Canyon!

What a freaking awesome week! I did NB GNO WAY back–they did in Chicago 2 years ago. I love that the event has grown so much now! And those leggings… yas. I tried the Truly in lime and let me tell you, that stuff is DANGEROUS. You have no clue that you are drinking!
Have the best time with your friends this weekend!
Allie
I love those seltzer waters. I drank them this summer and got several of my friends hooked on them as well.

I have popcorn and seltzer water in my favorites today too! I haven’t tried the dark chocolate skinny pop or spiked seltzer water though, and they sound amazing so I need to get on that. Have so much fun with your girlfriends. Having visitors is the best! =)

I’m going to have to try those spiked seltzers. I always end up feeling so full and bloated from drinking beer at tailgates around here, but this might be a good option. Bringing wine to a tailgate doesn’t always work – cabernet doesn’t go so well with chips and hot dogs!
