Good morning friends!
It’s been a whirlwind of a week since Scott and I were in Florida over the weekend and returned home Monday afternoon. It was so great to be back in Orlando to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our little one at my baby shower! Trips home to see friends and family always feel too short, but we will be back in the summer for the first time as a family of three!
I’ll be sharing more photos and stories of the baby shower soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to check in and catch up a little bit with a new edition of Friday Favorites.
This week I have been loving variety of things including decluttering our apartment and sleep on my downtime. I didn’t get much rest over the weekend, and I’ve been getting up frequently during the night (hello third trimester leg cramps and bathroom runs), so eight hours on both Wednesday and last night felt glorious.
I hope y’all have a great weekend ahead. I’ll be back to chat more next week. As always, I invite you to share what you’ve been loving lately in the blogger link up in the comment section below!
Friday Favorites #197: Week of 1/26
• baby shower art keepsake
I couldn’t recap the last week of favorites without sharing my very favorite surprise from my baby shower. My dad has always been good with a paint brush, and my sister asked him to paint a canvas of Scott, Baby H, and I for people to sign at the shower.
Scott sent a photo to copy from New Year’s Eve over to my dad, and I teared up as soon as I saw his work. It’s the sweetest, right? My sister asked everyone who attended the shower to sign it along with writing a message to Baby H in the Dr. Seuss book next to it for us to keep and read back to the baby someday. To say that I felt extremely loved and showered that day is a huge understatement.
One of my friends in Orlando is a great photographer, so she snapped photos for us during the shower. I promise to share more details and photos very soon when I get those!
• daddy-to-be books
Since we’re on the subject of the baby (I usually save these for trimester favorites or recaps … but …), a huge favorite of mine this week is Scott’s excitement for the babe to arrive. He’s been extra aware of the responsibilities he is about to take on, and he has read a handful of parenting books to help prepare us.
From Dude To Dad & Diaper Dude by Chris Pegula
We stopped by our local Barnes & Noble on Wednesday and found these two books in the parenting aisle. The first one covers what to expect during pregnancy and the other takes you through a guide to surviving the first two years with a baby.
I love hearing the male perspective of bringing babies into the world, and I got a good chuckle out of Scott’s Dude, You’re Going To Be A Dad book, so I have a feeling that I’ll be picking these up on some downtime as well. I can already tell that Scott is going to be extremely hands on with Baby H and that feeling is priceless. Only two months to go you guys! (Ahh!)
• Kate Spade & All Modern bathroom accessories
I shared a sneak peek of this a few Fridays back, but I finally finished redecorating our bathroom this week and I love it. It’s a very tiny bathroom that you would expect to see in NYC, and as some of you might remember, Scott ordered bright blue towels while living in our last home, so it’s been a bit of a challenge to find a shower curtain and bath set that I enjoy seeing day in and day out.
Since we have a small space that’s all white, I wanted to focus on black and white pieces and tie in the blue towels with the rug. I found these black and white accessories from the line (obsessed), and this art deco memory foam bath rug from All Modern.
, (we use for holding Scott’s razor & accessories), and with the All Modern bath rug in the background
The redecorating started with a black and white , and the space is finally finished! If you’re in the market for a bathroom spruce up, I would definitely recommend Kate Space and All Modern products. They’ve been pieces that have quickly turned into staples all over our apartment, and you can usually wait for a good sale to come around on their websites if you’re patient enough!
• girls’ night out in Orlando
The shower was the definite highlight of our trip home, but I also have to acknowledge a wonderful night out with this lovely group of ladies last Saturday night. Only one of them lives in Orlando now, so it truly melted my heart when I found out that they were all driving or flying hours just to see me that weekend. These are my besties from middle and high school!
We got a late start with 8pm reservations for dinner at Kres Chophouse downtown, so we spent most of our outing there. We left the restaurant to walk over to a new speak easy a few streets over that was … subpar. I guess we don’t quite party like we used to – haha. Regardless of the after-party atmosphere, I had a blast and a lot of laughs with these women and feel so lucky to have them by my side through life’s ups and downs.
Thank you so much for being there for me! Baby H is lucky to have aunts like you!
• Publix subs
This may sound silly to some, but my friends who grew up getting subs from Publix (the popular grocery store of the South) and no longer have access to them TOTALLY feel me. I know this because it’s a topic of conversation with some of my friends and co-workers in New York (also from Florida) on a regular basis.
(Shoot – have you ever visited my Orlando & Florida page? It’s literally the first thing I suggest you to do while visiting the area. Haha … the heart wants what it wants.)
Since I have distanced myself from deli sandwiches this entire pregnancy, I was craving them something fierce on this trip home. I finally gave in on our second day in and stopped by a Publix on the way over to get ready for my baby shower for a veggie sub. There’s just something about the bread and fresh vegetables that are ridiculously addicting. Am I right?
Needless to say, Scott and I stopped and got another sub to-go the next day to enjoy on the plane ride home on Monday. It’s that serious, y’all. I think it’s safe to say that both momma and baby were very happy with this decision. Please tell me I’m not alone here!

Most pasta salads are drowned in not-so healthy dressings and include at least a few not-so-great-for-you ingredients. My number one goal with this recipe was to make it light and healthy without compromising taste!

I am in love with that painting of you two — the picture is priceless too! So glad you had fun in Florida! And yesssss for Publix subs! We’re not entirely sure when Baby Brady will visit Florida for the first time, but he already has three airplane trips on the agenda for the next couple of months — so much like Baby H — he will be a pro traveler! 🙂 Happy Friday, Heather!
