Good morning! It’s Friday, and I know there is a lot of lovin’ going on with it being Valentines Day and all!
First and foremost, I want to thank you for the sweet comments and well wishes on yesterday’s post. For those of you who missed it, Housewife Glamour turned 2! It’s always fun to take a look back at the past year and reflect on what has changed. Certainly a lot!
Also, thank you all for your concerns. After a long day of being terribly sick, I finally started feeling human again around 10 p.m. last night. I tried my luck at a few crackers and a cup of applesauce and was able to keep everything down. This morning I woke up feeling refreshed and have a feeling whatever I had is on it’s way out of my system. Woo hoo!
That being said, I have a hunch that Scott and I are going to lay low this year. Originally, all I asked for was a hot date with him since it has been a while just the two of us have gone out to dinner. Considering I’m not even sure if I will be able to enjoy what most likely would have been expensive food, I am taking it as a sign to enjoy a nice comfy night in instead. Any good movie ideas?
Anyways, before I start rambling, let’s get right down to what I have been loving this week with some Friday Favorites!
Friday Favorites #24: Week of 2/14
• Blue Diamond Almonds
I have always loved snacking on almonds, but it has been quite a while since I went out and purchased them. Last weekend I stopped by a gas station for a bottle of water and came out with a serving of Blueberry flavored almonds. They have a few different fruity flavors out now, and those along with the Salt ‘n Vinegar cans have to be my favorite.
This week I got a little surprise from Blue Diamond that had me trying the Smokehouse flavor. Yum!
I know we are already well into the 2014 Winter Olympics, but I also wanted to share that you have the chance to get a free can of Blue Diamond Almonds when the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding win Gold (while supplies last).
Stay in the loop by following their Facebook page for more details!
• L’Oreal “concealer”
I have been out of concealer for a few weeks now. Every time I went into a store to replace it, the thought completely left my mind and I exited the store without it several times.
Last week I borrowed some from a teammate of mine for a game and loved it! It’s called L’Oreal Visible Lift Repair Absolute Foundation so that is why you will notice quotes around “concealer” in the title of this one.
I know it is a common trick for some to layer foundation under their eyes and on problem areas when they are out of concealer, but I have been doing this on purpose for the past week and really like how it turns out! I couldn’t help but to share.
• The Circle Maker
A personal goal of mine this year is to stop watching television at night and start tuning into books instead. I used to read books all the time growing up, but sadly admit to putting them on the back burner over the past decade.
This month, I am really enjoying The Circle Maker by Matt Batterson. It was suggested to my by a friend and will also be the book we talk about in a new Book Club I joined later this month!
Based on the true legend of Honi the circle maker, a first-century Jewish sage whose bold prayer ended a drought and saved a generation, Mark explains the idea of drawing circles of prayer around your dreams, family, and problems. No matter what your spirituality or religion consists of, I believe this book would be a great and inspirational read for anyone.
• Roadie eyes and snuggles
Between the crazy home game schedule and frigidly cold temperatures outside, I feel bad for not getting Roadie outside as much as we used to. During the warmer months, I take him for at least two long walks a day, and often times a trail run. These days, he’s lucky to be outside longer than five minutes. It’s just too cold!
In the mean time (while we wait for it to warm up a little) he has been by my side at all hours with his Roadie eyes.
Aren’t they so sad? I can’t stand it! Scott and I have always joked that Roadie is super expressive. He shows us exactly what he’s thinking with those cute eyebrows and facial expressions. Don’t worry though… I have him totally covered in the snuggles department until we can get back out there.
• revamping your “little black dress”
I was recently asked to style an adorable red leather clutch you probably saw pop up in my favorites a few weeks ago. Although I won’t be going anywhere (I know of) that would require a revamp of the little black dress attire, I thought I would share the look with you anyways.
Just in case you are in need of changing up your go-to date night out attire, here are a few tips.
Go for a romper! I just love the look and comfort they give, and can’t wait for it to get warm enough to rock them again. I got this plain black shorts romper from Forever 21 last year. I kept the belt a simple black color and focused two fun accent colors in my accessories.
Above I am wearing the Blue Pop Color Tagua Stone Necklace (also from Hearts), a gold bangle and wrap bracelet from Charming Charlie, red suede pumps from Charlotte Russe, and a bright red lip!
If you are stumped on what to pull out of your closet for a dressy Valentines outing, try revamping your LBD with fun pops of color in accessories!
Oh, and before I forget… wishing you a very HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
Now I want to hear from you…
Have a great start to your weekend! 😀

I too need to start turning off the tv at night and start reading books. I have a stack of books to read on my nightstand- and precious Roadie! So adorable!!
Heather
I’ve been meaning to attain this goal for years now! Hopefully it sticks 😉
Xiomara @ Parkesdale
I’m loving the cooler weather we are having in Florida right now. Still sunny and breezy. I’ve been able to run outside without melting.
Heather
Ahh that sounds amazing. I can’t wait to go home in a few weeks and enjoy a warm run outside!
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life
That’s an adorable outfit <3 I've been loving my pink sparkly Valentine's Day nails! If you give me the opportunity to wear glitter, I will 😉
Heather
Oh me too! I have been rocking the sparkles in some way on my nails for weeks!
Jess
Love the LBD look! You look fantastic! And your dog, melts my heart! Happy Valentines!!
Heather
Thank you, Happy Valentines!
Ericka Andersen Sylvester
My pastor wrote that book! I loved it! 🙂
Heather
No way! He’s a great writer. Loving everything about the book and what it stands for!
Cassie
I’m also trying to pick up my book a little more than watching tv, but when I’m sick, it’s nonstop television.
Heather
….guilty… 😉
Ashley
Salt and vinegar almonds?! I need to try those. Happy 2nd blogiversary and Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you feel better!
Ashley, Married to the Game
Heather
YES they are incredible! 🙂 Thank you!

I’m really curious now about the “concealer”. I am “blessed” with very dark under eye circles. Yay genetics! SO I’m all about layering. Does it get cakey at all?
PS Love the Roadie eyes. How could you not just do anything in the world for him with a look like that? So sweet. Your two kitties are just adorable too. On and happy blogiversarry!
Heather
I haven’t noticed this particular “foundation” to get cakey. I know some do! Let me know if you try and like it!
Hilary
I am completely with you on the more reading/less TV watching. Between Shades of Gray is a great historical fiction novel I recently finished (in two days, actually, because I couldn’t put it down!). I’ve never thought to use a foundation as a concealer, but I may need to try it. Enjoy your weekend!
Heather
I STILL haven’t picked up Shades of Grey. I know I know… I’m so behind!
Life's a Shih Tzu
I am loving reading lately as well! I just finished the first two books of the divergent series and I flew through ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ <—-amazing! I am also loving snuggling on the couch with my dog and husband. I too, am a Florida girl (Orlando woop woop!! ) and we moved up to Columbus OH last June. This winter has me so overwhelmed! I am looking forward to the day I can run outside again…props to you for braving the cold…I just cant!
Love your blog!!! I just started mine and I am so excited! =)
Heather
Shout out to my Orlando girls… woot! Ahh, so you see my struggles in living up north. The good new is I heard this year is the worst in over 20 seasons! It can only go up from here right?
Life's a Shih Tzu
Haha, yes, it has been a struggle and I have heard the same thing about this being the worst in many years…perfect timing for us to move up here! Only uphill….spring is so close!!!
