Happy Saturday friends! Did you have a good Valentines Day? And for all of you beautiful single ladies out there… did you have a good Galentines Day?
Ours was just like any other day around here. I found out a few years ago that Scott doesn’t really believe in commercial holidays. In fact, we got into a somewhat unpleasant conversation about Mother’s Day and Father’s Day last night over dinner. In the end, I made it pretty clear that if or when the day I become a mother comes we will be celebrating it. No question.
Until then, I can’t really argue about the rest of them. He simply questions why people have to show their love publicly only one day a year and I get that. I told him all I want for Valentines Day from here on out is a box of chocolates and if or when we have children, a dinner date out.
Before you feel sorry for me, here is an example of what he does for me on holidays like Valentines Day. Instead of writing in cards, he turns to publicly showing his affection and to be honest, it saves us about $10 in paper goods. No pressure. No stress over what to get the other person. Fine by me.
This is what he wrote yesterday:
“The greatest feeling in life is to feel wanted and loved, unconditionally and unashamedly.
I knew I loved Heather when she accepted me just as I am, not needing to change a thing about me, but making me WANT to change to be a better lover and leader for her. I absolutely love you unconditionally and unashamedly… and NOT just one day a year! Thanks for being amazing, interesting, accepting, and freaking hilarious – every day of our lives.”
I guess I’ll take it. He can romantic when he wants to be!
So with that, we planned a simple no-high-expectations night of winging dinner and renting a movie. But I’ll get into that when I check back in for a weekend highlight. The purpose of today’s post is to share a speedy interval workout on the treadmill to help you back on track!
Because I know I indulged in quite a few chocolates over the past 24 hours…
Sweat Off the Sweets Treadmill Workout
When trying any new treadmill workout I post, make sure you are doing speeds that make sense for you. Keep in mind that every treadmill is different, and what each m.p.h. speed feels like can vary from machine to machine.
When I say “rest” I mean either walk it out or split your legs on the sides of the treadmill for the allotted time, explained here. Just make sure to hold on tight and be careful getting back on!
Just in case that was at all confusing, here’s the break down:
• Set incline at 6. Set speed at a power walk (around 3.5 m.p.h.) for 2 minutes.
• At the 2 min. mark, crank the speed up to 6 (or whatever you feel is challenging) and complete a series of 1 minute on, 30 second off intervals.
• Make some of the minute sprints more challenging by increasing the speed, if you’re up for it.
• Repeat series until you have hit a set of 12 sprints (about 20 mins.). Set speed at a power walk (around 3.5 m.p.h.) to cool down for 2 minutes.
I completed this treadmill workout after Fitness Pilates Thursday night and left the gym feeling like a million bucks. Interval sprints will do that to ya!
Reebok Giveaway Reminder
Don’t forget to enter in the Reebok ZQuick Giveaway if you haven’t done so already!
I have been enjoying reading your enthusiasm and color choices in the comments section thus far! Just remember it closes at Midnight E.S.T Sunday and a winner will be announced first thing Monday morning.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Glad to hear you had a good Valentines day! I had a fab “Galentines” day and def ate my fair share of ice cream… This workout couldn’t have come at a better time!
Ice cream and girl time is the best combo!
Thanks for sharing the treadmill workout. I’ve been going to the y instead of running outside lately because I’m a wimp when the temperature drops pass 50.
Oh man what I would do to enjoy a 50 degree run outside! Enjoy your weekend!
My guy isn’t big into “Hallmark holidays” either…so you’re not alone! And I love what Scott wrote about you. You’re a lucky one (as is he, I’m sure 🙂
Love the workout…especially since I overindulged in way too many Valentine’s Day sweets at work this week. Oops.
Aw, Scott is such a cutie! What a sweet thing to say <3 I totally know what you mean about overdoing it on the sweets… I think today should be National Sugar Coma Day 😉
This was perfect considering I just had 8 boxes of girl scout cookies delivered to my door. Ooops! 😉
I’m not a big valentine’s day person either. It’s more about the every day romance.
