I have something fun to share with you later on today, but first I wanted to highlight the weekend through pictures.
Valentines Weekend Recap
Unlike the past handful of them, Scott and I had good amount of quality R&R time together over the weekend. It had been quite a while since our schedules allowed us to just kick back at relax at home, so that is exactly how we wanted to spend our Valentines Day.
We ended up going to dinner last minute (dressed casually) and rented the Jobs movie through Redbox on the way home. The funny thing is that we both ended up falling asleep during the middle of it so we put it back on to finish it the next morning. I loved it!
Saturday was perfect. We didn’t have any plans to be anywhere until the afternoon and I can’t tell you the last time that happened. Enjoying the “warm” sunshine beaming through the window, we each spent the day doing what we wish we had more time for around the house.
We heated up the rest of our Thai leftovers and I spent the afternoon with my nose in a book.
I can’t tell you the last time I did that, either.
(Hey Roadie!)
Around 3:30 p.m. we finally got motivated to get out the door and were on our way to a friend’s house.
Scott said he was being “artistic” here.
As soon as we arrived, we noticed a tall wall of snow around the yard. I tried to show my feet in comparison to the side of their lawn, but I’m not sure if you can tell exactly how ridiculously high the snow has built up around here.
In fact, (when it isn’t annoying) it becomes quite useful for many different things, including keeping beverages chilled.
We gathered over a collection of some of my favorite snacks, which I didn’t even feel back about digging into.
And we ended up in Dearborn later on to celebrate our friend Chad’s 1 year mark at his fire station!
Turning into the grandma I know I am becoming, we were the first ones to leave around 11 p.m. and couldn’t help but notice some funny things about the snow on the way out.
(Upside down icicles?)
Sunday started early with a service at the church we have been calling home since we moved up here. Right after, I received a picture of my nephew playing football outside (in shorts) from my mother in sunny Florida, so I sent her a picture of my view.
#polarvortex
After the service, I had a few minutes to chat with some friends and enjoy a chi tea latte with a vegan muffin at the in-house coffee shop!
Straight from there, I headed to our team practice where we learned a few new routines for the week. I returned home right before 2 p.m. and spent the next half hour loving on this guy.
Scott was still at an event, so I wanted to go run some errands before he got home. I also got the itch to create a new soup recipe.
I wrote out what I thought would be a great soup combo and winged it.
It actually turned out fantastic and I can’t wait to share the full recipe with you tomorrow!
Finishing off the weekend with even more R&R time, we lit a few candles and tuned into the NBA All-Star game in New Orleans. It was fun to see familiar faces pop up every now and then! After half time, I convinced Scott to record the rest and we turned on a scary movie we have been wanting to check out.
I still haven’t seen the original in it’s entirety, but I can imagine that this Carrie is equally as creepy. Good flick if you can handle a great amount of blood!
And that was our weekend. Nothing crazy and a lot of catch up time, which felt pretty marvelous to me.
(Thanks for the link-up, Katie!)
See you again in just a bit!

You so understand about the snow! I can’t tell you how many times our freezer has been full in the winter and we’ve just popped it outside to freeze on its own. 😉

Always a silver lining, right?

I need Thai food now. Thanks for the reminder. 😉
This is so random, but I am still in love with your brown hair. I don’t know if I have the coloring to pull that off. I tried in college but it was DEFINITELY the wrong brown for me. haha I was super jacked up. Now I’m terrified.
Heather
It’s definitely been a fav type of food lately for me! And thank you so much!!! I’m sure you could pull off any shade, but I feel like blonde compliments you so well!

I also love Jobs! I grew up right next to where Steve did (both Steves went to my highschool!) so it was so fun to see the movie. Your weekend looks perfect, and there isn’t anything better than a chai and a muffin to get the weekend started.
