Good Morning and Happy Friday!
Well this week flew. But, hey, I’m not here to complain! I love that we just keep getting closer and closer to summer.
It dropped down to the forties this week and is supposed to get down in the thirties again this weekend. Whyyy? I’m very confident in saying that I’m one hundred percent over that nonsense.
Regardless of the chill, I’m really looking forward to this weekend and know a lot of you are too. To celebrate, lets get the party rollin’ and dive right into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites.
Don’t forget to share something you’ve been loving this week by linking up or playing in the comments section!
Friday Favorites #37: Week of 5/16
• flowers and green things
April showers must really bring May flowers, ya’ll. As soon as we returned from our trip to Florida, spring finally arrived up north in Michigan.
It wasn’t until just the other day that I realized we are actually past the winter. I think it’s finally safe to say the dog days are over, friends!
Or at least the snow days.
And I’m really digging the new blooms that keep appearing in the neighborhood too!
• glasses
A few weeks ago, I talked about getting LASIK surgery and now needing glasses again (seven years later) to see perfectly clear.
While traveling, I left them behind and had four days to remember what it was like without them. I can fully function, but was definitely missing the crispness of seeing signs clearly while driving. Oh, and forget the guide on the television at night. Blur City.
I received them in the mail on Wednesday and was so grateful to have them back in my life!
• ALT (alternative protein) bars
Psst! Did you know LÄRABAR makes (alternative) protein bars?
That’s right. The pure and simple whole food, gluten free, vegan, dairy free, non-GMO bar (<- say all that three times fast) went a step further and added alternative protein sources (rather than powder) to provide substance in their line of ALT bars.
I bought my first box of them the other week and have become absolutely hooked. I don’t know about the others, but the Peanut Butter Cookie flavor is phenom!
• open windows
My two favorite times of the year is when it’s cool enough to crack a window after summer and warm enough to do the same after winter.
Spring is finally here!
And it looks like I’m not the only one enjoying feeling the fresh air either.
• foam rolling + massage bar-ing
I have mentioned foam rolling more than a handful of times on the blog, and mentioned the massage roller (or massage bar) a few weeks back for the first time. You guys. I am obsessed.
This week, I have spent at least thirty minutes (between in the morning after I wake up and at night before I go to bed) a day massaging my own muscles with these bad boys. It’s so, so good for you and feels amazing if you do it often enough.
Scott brought the black bar home a few weeks ago. He can’t exactly recall what brand it is, but he purchased it from Sports Authority, which is also where they sell foam rollers. (Similar, Similar, similar, similar.)
Well worth the investment!
• Amy’s soups
It boggles my mind when people say they don’t like soup. I respect it, but I can’t imagine what some of my meals at home would be without it.
I actually crave soup, and that has only intensified since we moved up to the Polar Vortex.
Lately, I have been turning to Amy’s Kitchen for soups. Particularly, their line of chili. It must be new, because I couldn’t even find one in their list of soups online. But, for the record, they have medium chili, spicy chili, black bean chili, light sodium chili, and chili with vegetables.
I might have bought all of them.
This one is chili with vegetables, all organic, all non-GMO.
All delish!
• packing for camping
I haven’t gone “camping” since my girl scout days!
This weekend I am joining my friends Alex and Liz, along with a large group of women from our church on a 48-hour retreat in the woods. I don’t think we will exactly be roughing it, but I was instructed to bring rain gear, a sleeping bag and a flashlight, so…?
The best part of gathering my things was the shoe collection. Check out those heels!
The last night we are there we are having a dance party where we dress in old prom or bridesmaids dresses. Fun, right?
I don’t really know what to expect, but I am really looking forward to a weekend of fun and fellowship!

Have SOO much fun this weekend! 🙂 Can’t wait to hear all about it!
Heather
Thanks love! Happy Weekend to you! 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
O, I love ALT bars, specifically the Lemon Pound Cake!
Heather
Ohhhh I’ll have to try that flavor! Thanks.
Runner Girl Eats
Our window open days are over 🙁 Have a great weekend! LOVE the old prom dress dance idea!
Heather
Oh man! That’s a bummer. But, if it makes you feel better it’s currently cold here. Again. I’m looking forward to the dance!
Janelle
Love the animals all over the bed 🙂 This is exactly what mine would look like except my dog can’t get up on my bed – it’s a little too high. He probably could if he really wanted to, but I don’t know if I want to start that habit. Have fun on your retreat!
Heather
Aw, that’s probably for the best! Roadie not only sleeps on the bed, but finds the need to be on every piece of furniture we own. I swear, he thinks he’s a cat sometime with the positions he gets himself into.
Sarah
YES to all things spring and warm weather! Isn’t it amazing how much better you feel when the sun is shining and flowers are blooming?!
Heather
So true! I just want it to be like that all. year. long.
cleaneatingveggiegirl
I totally want to get one of those massage bars now. I feel like my body is constantly achey, so I’m hoping one of those will help!
Heather
It really do wonders for me!
Jess
I don’t crave soup, and usually don’t eat it, but that veggie and beans looks yummy!! Have a nice weekend camping… With my phobia to worms I don’t think I’ll survive camping 😛
aladygoeswest
Foam rolling is so good for you. I don’t have one at home, but I really should. I went camping last weekend. It’s fun to get outdoors. 🙂
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
I love foam rolling and I have one of those bars too. So helpful. Have a great time camping this weekend!

Camping sounds like a blast. There’s always some sort of adventure in it. Have fun! 🙂

I am going to a wedding up north – snow flurries in the forecast! 🙁 My short, strapless dress may not have been the best choice. Have fun camping! 🙂
I REALLY am pumped about Larabar ALT protein bars. I love the “regular” Larabars.
SuzLyfe
Love that playlist! And you know how I feel about salsa, definitely a favorite! Have fun camping–I actually quite like it, but my husband is not so much into it. Generally because he previously did so with dude that stole his sleeping bag and he had to sleep on a rock. Nuff said.
Heather
lol – thanks! Looks like you somehow clicked back to my archives on this one! 😉
SuzLyfe
Haha I didn’t even look at the date. DOY. It was definitely one of those days lol.
Heather
Ha, happens to the best of us! 😉
