Welp, it’s five hours past the time I was hoping today’s post went live. Cool.
While I had every intention on posting this morning, it got away from me and before I knew it I was out the door for my hair appointment across town. As I was on my way home from the salon, I got a call from Scott and decided to help him and HOOPER out with a last minute appearance at a high school Homecoming parade. Remember those?
Seeing the Homecoming court couples drive by in convertibles brought me right back to high school. Although I was never nominated for Homecoming Queen, I always went to the football games and dances. While in line for the start of the parade, I noticed a Freshman ’17 banner and wish I could have documented my own reaction to it. Are we really already almost to the Class of ’20? I remember being in high school when the Class of ’00 rolled around. Where the <bleep> did the past thirteen years go? Yikes!
Anyways, that was my Friday. I just got home a few minutes ago and since I had already planned on sharing another week of favorites with you, I’m going with the better late than never theory here. Let’s roll!
Friday Favorites #6: Week of 10/11
• Zesty Ranch Veggie Straws
I have an undeniable infatuation with chips ya’ll. While I also have a strong love affair with (mostly dark) chocolate, I would down an entire bag of kettle cooked Salt ‘n Vinegar chips over a brownie sundae any day. It’s a true weakness of mine and is something I will never give up, just like coffee.
I’m sure the sodium levels are not ideal here, but I’m just going to look past that and share how giddy I became when I saw these bags pop up in the arena vending machine this week.
Yes… you read it right. Sensible Portions Veggie Straws in a Zesty Ranch flavor. Sorry I’m not sorry for eating that entire bag in about five seconds.
• Days Without Makeup
Since we are back in season, I will now be required to be “done up” majority of the time. Taking a break from the lashes and lipstick, I took full advantage of a make-up free day today.
I took this picture right after getting my hair done (again… but it’s finally the right shade my team has been asking for the entire summer!) and felt the best I have in a while, au natural. Now if I could only learn to blow out and style my hair like my hairdresser, I’d be golden.
• Dancing On Court Again
Speaking of being back in season, this obviously means I get to dance on court again which makes me very happy!
Since I am unsure about plans for the next season, I am enjoying my time dancing this year and am soaking in every second possible!
• Girl Time
Girl time goes hand-in-hand with court time. There are some weeks throughout the season where I will see the same group of girls every single day, so they kind of become a second family.
Although I am starting to drag my heels a little (wake up, Heather… there’s another birthday to celebrate tonight), I am thoroughly enjoying getting to spend so much time with the girls again.
• Subway Chopped Salads
I know I have mentioned this on the blog… or at least on my social media channels before, but I have become an avid fan of Subway chopped salads.
I have always been the girl to spend five minutes chopping up my own salad once I get it before I even take the first bite. I like loaded salads, but I like everything to be cut up into small pieces and mixed together so each bite is equally as savory. I normally get turkey, but have been turning to the plain chicken breasts (<- double meat!) instead this week. My favorite way to order is with every vegetable possible and oil and vinegar as the dressing. YUM.
• Crunchy Fall Leaves
If there’s one thing about Michigan I can’t get enough of, it’s the fall. I LOVE hearing the sound of leaves crunching when I walk through them too. Is that weird?
As the weather gets chillier, I have found myself getting outside more and more. One of these days, Scott and I will fix up our broken bikes to take advantage of it and go for a trail ride. Hopefully sooner than later!
• Violet Love headbands
I shared my adoration of an adorable collection of headbands yesterday. The brand is called Violet Love, and you can even read my review if you feel so inclined.
Oh yeah, I’m also hosting a giveaway for you to win a pair of fun printed bands for yourself! Make sure to enter if you haven’t done so already.
Considering it is now past 9 p.m. and I have a birthday celebration to get out to, I guess that wraps up this week’s highlights. I hope you have a great rest of your night and I’ll see ya tomorrow! 😀
What are some of your favorite finds this week?

You look beautiful with no makeup! I agree, Subway chopped salads are great!
Thank you so much! And I feel like I’ve been loving off of those salads lately!
I just recently discovered your blog, and I’m enjoying reading through it.
Quick question for you, why do your team have a say in your hair colour?! Is it about having the right number of blondes and brunettes?
Welcome Caroline! Every team is different, but yes, it’s mostly to make sure there is a variety in looks 🙂
You look gorgeous without makeup!!
I totally understand about styling your hair like your hairdresser…it just never looks the same for me!
Thanks Amy! I know, I really wish I could figure out how to master the blow out!
I loooooove walking and crunching leaves! It’s such a calming sound 🙂
I had a latch of leaves on today’s running path and couldn’t wait to go home the same way, just to crunch. 😉
