Good morning and a very Happy Friday!
How was your week? Mine was good. Chilly, but good. I know I already shared this on twitter yesterday, but…
Whew! Warm front coming through, y’all.
Okay, enough about the weather. Everything else about the week went pretty well! I started teaching classes at the gym, and I am staying plenty busy getting things ready on the back end for the new site launch. We are just about two and a half weeks out. Ahh!
That’s so exciting slash overwhelming… so much to organize, so little time. I guess you know where I’ll be during my down time this weekend. #creatingpageslikeaboss
Now onto this week’s edition of Friday Favorites. I invite you all to play along and share yours in the comments section, and while you’re at it, link up your own using the blue InLinkz button!
Friday Favorites #72: Week of 1/16
• EOS hand lotion
I have a slight love affair with EOS products. I know I am not alone in my obsession with their , but have you ever tried their line of ?
I love the flat oval shape you can easily slip into a purse pocket. It’s very creamy and convenient to carry around all winter long!
• Sweaty Nation
Have you guys heard of the new platform for fitness lovers across the United States and even world called Sweaty Nation?
A couple of months ago, I was approached to join the Sweaty Nation community to share and get inspirations from others eating healthy and staying active in their communities every day.
“We are yogis, fitness instructors, triathletes, cyclists, hikers, climbers, skiers, pilates instructors, dancers, racquetball players and fitness lovers of all kinds and we are here to encourage each other to make healthy choices and lead active, healthy active lives.“
The company started as a project from ActivewearUSA.com (look out for more from them soon!) and has expanded into a company of it’s own with the goal of helping the world stay active and fit!
I have been a part of the community for a little over a month now, and I love seeing the daily posts from other people as well as helpful content through healthy living articles.
I don’t post all of my blog content on my page, but I always share anything health and fitness related. It’s fun to scroll through and see how everyones’ days and activities are going. You can become a part of the network and follow people and fitness professionals all over the world!
• shampoo & conditioner
In need of a shampoo and conditioner restock, I stopped into Sally’s Beauty Supply this week and figured I would give something new (and cheaper than what I normally buy) a try.
I found these huge bottles of and on sale for $8 each.
The bottle and smell reminded me of the brand I love, which is exactly what the saleswoman compared it to when I asked her about it. I’ve used the set twice this week with my , and I can already tell an improvement in the moisture level of my hair. It’s so much softer.
A definite win!
• lacrosse ball massager
I have heard that are great for massaging certain areas and knots out of your feet, legs, neck, back and shoulders.
I don’t know exactly what kind of ball this is (Scott brought it home from an event and Roadie loves to chew on it), but it’s considerably hard and looks pretty similar to a lacrosse ball. I have been rolling it over my muscles the last couple of weeks and highly recommend it for anyone who likes foam rolling. These types of balls are great for targeting pressure points.
I feel like this is literally going to be Scott and I when we start a family. Ha!
• personal training
This week marked my first official week training clients at the gym! I am still very early in the process, and I know it will take more time to feel fully comfortable, but it’s going really, really well so far.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of assessing and training my first 1-on-1 client, and love putting new workouts together for both private sessions and small group classes. I’m looking forward to sharing more details with you in the near future!
• water
Do any of you find a collection of water glasses and tumblers like this around your house?
Captured in this photo is just from me over the span of two days. Thirsty much? I can’t seem to get enough water lately. I guess that’s not a horrible thing…. love me some high quality H2O! (<- anyone catch that movie quote?)

Strength and Sunshine
That hand cream! I must find it 😀
Congrats on you’re first week training! It must feel so good and rewarding after studying and waiting so long! XOXO
Heather
I always see it by the check out ar ULTA and sometimes even Target or the grocery store! Thank you, I am looking forward to the next few months to see how my schedule unfolds!
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables
Now I must find that hand cream. My hands are always SO DRY! I can’t wait to hear more about your first time training a client on your own!! How exciting!
Heather
Me too!! Especially in the winter. I’ve been applying this constantly for days!
Jenny Bender
Do you know if the Biotera hair stuff is cruelty free? Sounds awesome, but that’s always the first thing I check and a quick google search didn’t turn anything up. Thanks! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Heather
It doesn’t say one way or the other on the bottle. In fact, most of it is in another language! Boo.
Jenny Bender
Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend!!!
Becky @ Olives n Wine
That shampoo sounds amazing – I loveeeee the smell of Biolage but don’t love spending that much money on my shampoo! And yay for starting to teach at the gym this week! I’m sure you’ll be a pro in no time 🙂
Heather
Aw thank you for the encouragement!
fitsickle
Those animals cracked me up!! I am obsessed with my lacrosse ball… It hurts so good! And congrats on your first week of personal training.. You rock!! Have a great weekend!
Heather
Aw thank you so much, happy weekend to you!
Olivia @ Healthy Liv
I love EOS lip balm! I got some in my Easter basket last year (I totally still get an Easter basket!) and it was perfect because they’re already egg shaped haha 🙂
Heather
Ha, i never thought of that – but it totally makes sense! 😉
Chelsea @ Raw N' Toned
Love EOS lotion!! I had the pink one, and was using it while on my medication since it dried out my skin so much. That stuff literally saved my life! It made my skin feel sort of normal when it wasn’t! And yay for soft hair! I hate when my hair dries out just a little bit, I’m a bit obsessed with having soft hair haha. And yay for your first week of training clients!! That has to be so exciting and fun!!
Heather
It is! I’m really looking to get into a normal schedule and groove there. Wow, looks like you might be a bigger fan of the lotion that I am! Great stuff!
pieceofcaitlin
I love eos lip balm, but haven’t lotion yet.. I always see it at target… I gotta try! 🙂
Heather
You should! The green is actually a fresh flowers scent. I love it!
Courtney {Alkeks Abroad}
Love lacrosse balls for sore muscles, especially calves!
Heather
Ohhh calves, I need to try that!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Eos has great products. Their lip balm is wonderful. I use a lacrosse ball every night when I foam roll. Isn’t it awesome? So glad you like personal training. Have a wonderful weekend!
Heather
Thanks Lauren, happy weekend to you!!
Courtney
LOVE Biolage products! And I was saying the same thing about the weather this morning…it’s like, 25 and I was saying it felt like spring. #sosad 😉
Heather
Ha, it’s crazy what “cold” and “warm” turns into over the seasons! Happy Weekend Courtney!
SuzLyfe
#chirunnerprobs: winds below 10 mph and “feels like temps” above 10 = practically balmy, and I don’t know how to dress.
Good luck with your clients! You’ll be fabulous! And you bet, all about the lacrosse ball.
Heather
I know right? Luckily, our wind hasn’t been bad the last couple of weeks. Chicago IS the windy city, so i guess it’s more normal on your side of the lake. When in doubt, go with ALL the layers!! 😉
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks)
I’ve been seeing the EOS lip gloss everywhere and now lotion. There must be something amazing about it?! Happy Friday!
Heather
Yes!! I really do love their products. Even their shave lotion!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi Heather! Thanks for hosting. A few things: It will get easier and easier to program for an be around clients as you going along, so good luck with that. Also, I’m so excited to see what you have in store for us with the new site. And also, I love EOS products. I don’t know how you live in that cold weather. I am freezing when we hit 50s! 🙂 Happy Friday, my friend!!!
Heather
I’m actually doing okay this winter, its not as CRAZY cold as it was last year. Yet! 😉 I’m excited about the new site too, it will be so much easier to navigate and find content! Woo hoo! Thanks for the tip 🙂
Elsie @ Sharing Healthiness
I am so happy that personal training is going great for you!!! I can’t wait to see your new site all this anticipation is killing me! I definitely need some good hand cream, between the cold and the gym equipment my hands are pretty beastly 🙂 The rhino is just on point! Have a great weekend! xx
Heather
Thank you! Haha the rhino was my second fav. Glad you liked the photo as much as I did! Happy Weekend!
Amy M4gic
Heather – those animals dressed as humans! I die! For me, the llama and actually also the ostrich are just too much. So funny!
And I’m so happy that your first week of working with clients is going well. Even as I study all of the NASM material, I feel like there’s going to be a big (scary) leap of faith when it comes to putting it into real-world practice with clients. Thanks for continuously sharing your journey!
Heather
Right?! Haha, I couldn’t resist posting it when I found that picture. SO great! To be honest, I was pretty scared too. It was intimidating for me to even look for jobs, much less start one. Luckily, I ended up at a great gym with a learning curve. My boss is very understanding and was willing to “teach me the ropes” if you will. You never really know unless you try… some gyms prefer to hire without experience, that way they can teach you the way they practice. Best of luck in your training journey!
Shelly
Those little balls have seriously been a life changer. I actually buy racquetballs and they are blue like that one. I had a trainer once that used it to get a not out of my shoulder right in the joint…I seriously wanted to punch him in the face at the time….but I had a little knot that was keeping me from continuing my workouts and it was almost immediate relief. I have been a believer of that and a foam roller ever since.
Heather
Hey, maybe mine is a raquetball then… who knows! Whatever it is, I love it. 😉
Anna-Marie @BeautyandtheBeets
I love those animals! I will need to find the EOS lotion as I do love the lip balm.
Heather
I’m sure you will love it 🙂
emilysfullplate
I love using a lacrosse ball on my feet. Feels so good after runs!
Heather
I do the same! Love it!
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance
Congrats on your first week of training so exciting! Can’t wait to read about the updates. Um, yes to everything EOS. All things EOS ALL the time. I have to hide the lip balm from my dog because that’s her crack. Seriously, she sniffs them out even when I try to hide them, cracks them open and demolishes the lip balm. The only way I know is when she gives me a kiss and it suspiciously smells like blueberry acai haha!
Heather
Haha #alltheEOSthingsallthetime. Story of my life 😉
Danielle Dunn
I’m studying for my NASM cert right now! 🙂 Cannot wait to start training, but def nervous! Do you have any advice for studying/test prep?
Heather
Hi Danielle! Best of luck throughout your cert and personal training journey! Here are my best NASM study tips: https://lifeinleggings.com/nasm/ultimate-nasm-cpt-study-guide/ Hope this helps!
Thompson
I love these stuffs.
