Helloooo, and thank you for checking in today. As life keeps changing and the NBA season goes on, I realize my posting schedule has been pretty up in the air. The important thing, however, is that I will continue to update you on the everyday happenings in our lives as much as I can!
Today is all about the weekend. I realize that today is Tuesday, but yesterday was a bit of a busy one… so today feels like my Monday. A good moving and grooving, productive kind of Monday at that.
Did you all have a good time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? Did you dress up in green, walk around with an Irish accent (or your closest version of it) and/or cook something involving corned beef and cabbage? (If you were around last week, I posted a handful of festive St. Patty’s inspired food to get you goin’.)
As far as my weekend went, I am going to go ahead and answer with a big ‘ol yes, yes, and well… not quite yet, but hopefully soon.
With Scott in the midst of a busy travel schedule, I got to spend a lot of quality time at home with Mr. Roadie.
We took a lot of freaking freezing beautiful winter walks around the neighborhood and checked off a good amount of tasks off of the “to-do around the house” list.
While on my own, I tend to do more snacking than large meals throughout the day. Every now and then I will cook for myself, but the majority of my time alone consist of meals that take just a minute or two to prepare.
For those interested, I have started a new What I Ate Wednesday series that highlights a day of my eating once a week. The purpose is to show you how easy (and mostly random) healthy eating can be on an everyday basis and to hopefully inspire you to join on in with me.
Next WIAW comes out… wait for it… tomorrow (Wednesday)! 😉
Also from this weekend came one of my favorite “pets and I selfies” yet. While folding laundry, I decided to take a seat and finish stacking in the middle of our upstairs den. Below is what happens within thirty seconds of sitting on the floor at any time in our house. Every. Single. Time.
I swear our pets are actually children. Such babies!
I spent the rest of my weekend down time codling them, with the exception of a night out bowling on Friday. It had been ages since I got to sport a sweet pair of bowling kicks, and I had a great time hitting the lanes with a few friends.
I have now figured out my bowling sweet spot: the second game. I warm up in the first, and my hands pretty much give up in the third. My middle game is always my best, and this time I got a new high score of 130! Ohhhhh yeah.
No on to the obvious part of this post…
St. Patrick’s Day 2013
Speaking of sweet pairs of kicks, I want to thank all of you who helped me decide on these AUKES by Aldo boots Saturday. I was between two different colors and asked advice via Instagram and Facebook on which shade to take home!
After gathering your feedback and literally asking every single employee in the Aldo Outlet store, I finally decided on the taupe.
I might be a tad obsessed with these.
I also purchased a pair of their insoles and grips for the bottom and could not wait to give them a go! On my feet they went along with a few green wardrobe pieces to go celebrate the ever fun St. Patrick’s Day!
(Necklace + Cardigan: Forever 21, Tank: Banana Republic Outlet)
Scott and I decided ahead of time that we would celebrate the holiday by attending an event in Greektown Detroit. I picked him up from the airport with a green shirt in hand, and off we went to explore a new part of the city.
We arrived downtown a little after 4 p.m. and at first thought we were the only ones who were out celebrating.
Where were all of the loud green people?
Where we come from, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated all day long… starting as early as Noon. We saw a few people here and there, but nothing like what we expected to see.
Sidenote: Did any of you happen see this image going around to put together your Leprechaun Name?
I would like to formally introduce myself as Mrs. Shillelagh McDoodles. Peevish (Scott) and I thought it was hilarious when walking past a bar in Greektown named after me.
(Replace that Old with Rockin’ and we are good to go!) 😉
Eventually, we got to our destination and walked right into what answered our own question… here the loud green people are!
That is a friend of ours named Aaron, and I give him props for proudly wearing a kilt all day long. Happppppppy St. Patrick’s Day!
It took a while to settle in to the craziness, but felt right at home when we spotted another friend of ours. Ummmm, can you see his shirt under that obnoxiously large (and awesome) chain?
(Hint: It is the title of this post.)
I want!
It isn’t a stretch to say that Scott and I had an eventful rest of the day. It had been a while since I had seen him, even longer since we had really been out, and we had a lot of Irish things to celebrate.
We made a few new friends, pulled out our best dance moves, and had a fabulous time. Erin Go Bragh!
