Hi friend and Happy Friday! Thanks for popping over to the blog today.
Are you enjoying the summer so far? Skyler is officially *out* and in the wild with me for the remainder of June, July, August and the first week of September. (The school year runs late and goes back late in the Northeast.) We’re already a few days in and getting ready to spend the next almost two weeks with family in Orlando.
It’s all a balance of regular life and summer fun that I’m trying to figure out, probably just like you. I feel like there’s so much to catch up on, but we’ll try to keep it down to a few bullet points, Friday Favorites style.

This round-up includes a handful of things I’ve really been loving over the past few weeks along with a recap of some of my favorite outings in the city. Here we go!
Latest Faves: Fitness Gear, Pre-K Grad and Summer Fun
- Under Armour picks
Let’s kick things off with a handful of pieces I’ve been wearing and LOVING over and over. I’ve always been a fan of Under Armour leggings, sports bras, shoes and cover ups, so I was excited to receive a haul from them last month.
To be clear, I did not pay for the items, but I hand picked them and chose to feature them in a recent photo shoot with Jason Roth Photography. Each piece is included in a round-up of links I complied on my “shop my UA favorites” page, which you can access and reference any time. I’ll update the page if or when I receive more shipments.
Here’s a look at two of the outfits:

Infinity High Harness Sports Bra (wearing XS)
Motion Ankle Legging (wearing S)
HOVR Phantom 3 Dyed Running Shoe

Armour Branded WB Legging (wearing S)
Mixed Media 1/2 Zip Fleece (wearing XS)

The style of every piece is adorable and functional. The blue leggings run slightly long on me at 5’5″, but they are really comfortable to wear all day and during a workout. The jacket is getting warmer as a summer cover-up, but I’ve been throwing in around my waist with many different outfits and really like the 1/2 zip option. It’s like a hoodie that doesn’t mess with your messy bun and has a great pocket in front. 😉
The grey leggings came with a matching jacket and are super comfortable, soft and offer the perfect amount of support. Plus, there’s a pocket on the side – huge bonus. The sports bra is almost sold out, but is still available in grey and pink right now. I really like the high cut, clipped back and adjustable straps to make it fit just right. And finally, the shoes are fantastic. I’m obsessed with the black and white tie dye pattern and they are really easy to slip on and off. To be fair, I haven’t worn them running … yet. But I will. There’s almost a sock-like feel on the top, and they feel very supportive without being bulky. There are only a few running shoes I can wear commuting around the city all day, and this is one of them.
And that’s why they all earn a top spot on my favorites!
- Skyler’s “Stepping Up” Ceremony + Last Day of Pre-K
It has been a busy week for Skyler as we celebrated his Pre-K graduation, which is called a “Stepping Up” Ceremony last Friday. It was the only time I’ve ever been inside of his classroom, as I was home sick for the holiday party and every other celebration or event with his class has been held outside. That alone was a great experience, as it was cool to see things he has a part in making and absorbing every day. It was so cute.
We arrived to the kids lined up in a formation to perform two songs and dances. Skyler knew all of the words and still sings them at home. I may or may not have had tears in my eyes the whole time. I just can’t believe we’re here already!

His teachers were so thoughtful and sent us home with a TON of extra crafts he had completed throughout the year along with two tote bags (hand printed by Skyler and signed by each student) full of summer activities and school supples to keep him busy. He attended a very large Pre-K center with a total of 27 classrooms between 3K and 4K (Pre-K), and will be attending a new school for Kindergarten in the Fall.

His last day of school was Tuesday and was bittersweet for everyone, as there are only two friends he will know going into the next school year. (While it was only a mile away, we live a little further away from the preschool than most families do.) There are more than a handful of public schools within that radius between us, and we are happy with the school that he got into, basically right across the street from us. The commute will be a dream!
All of that to say, he is excited to move on to his “big boy school” and asks if he’s going yet every morning. I’m sure that day will be here before we know it!
- Harry Potter On Broadway
Scott, Skyler and I bought last-minute tickets to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child On Broadway Tuesday night. We had friends visiting the City who already planned to see the show, so we made reservations to eat at a favorite pre-show restaurant in the Theater District, Hunt & Fish Club. It’s upscale for sure, and a special treat every time.

After dinner, we took a quick walk over to the Lyric Theater and had just enough time to snap this photo upon entry. Unfortunately, we didn’t leave extra buffer time to explore the theater or look through the playbill before the show started, and we only realized that there are several extra surprises after we got home late that night. (Many others took intermission to explore the interactive photos and spots you can scan a QR code and learn more about the show and characters. We would have too if we planned accordingly.)
This show wasn’t always on our list, as it used to be broken up into two separate shows, one running 2 hours and 40 minutes, and the other running 2 hours and 35 minutes, including intermissions. They revamped the show and condensed it down to one ticket and visit, now running 3 hours and 30 minutes, included an intermission.
We figured Skyler would fall asleep after intermission with a 7 p.m. start time, and that’s exactly what happened. But he seemed to really enjoy what he did see! It’s a play versus a musical, and the story follows the next generation of Harry Potter as his son and friends enter Hogwarts for the first time with their own set of challenges and villains. There’s magic and special effects throughout the entire show, and it’s a cool one with lots of time travel.
A great way to describe it is a mix between Wicked and Back to the Future, as our friend said perfectly!

- Coney Island + city adventures

It’s too much to cover here, but I’ll close the recap with a handful of photos from a fun day in Coney Island, dinner at Beauty & Essex, dinner at White Horse Tavern, rooftop picnics and more.

And much more to come. (Yay Summer!)
