Hello! I hope you had an amazing Halloween filled with treats, fun costumes and a few friendly frights. I’m especially looking forward to this weekend because my mom is in town visiting us and NYC! We’ll be soaking up all the autumn vibes, exploring the sights and parks in my neighborhood and popping over to Manhattan for some city adventures, too.

With the seasons changing, it’s the perfect time to share a few favorite things and recent highlights. Thanks so much for catching up with me, and I would really love to hear from you in the comments below!
Latest Faves + Highlights: Fall 2024 Edition
- seated strength workouts at the gym
I shared this in my last batch of favorites, but I have been turning to more at-home workout sessions with a variety of dumbbells more than anything, and I’m still continuing that pattern at least twice a week.
I will typically hit the gym 1-2 times per week, and when I do, I like to turn to the cable and seated machines before an inclined walk or jog on the treadmill. I like to call it my “lazy girl strength workout” because I get to sit throughout the majority of it — but that doesn’t mean it isn’t progressively working muscles or isn’t challenging with the right resistance.
I haven’t documented my original workouts in awhile, and this is because I typically repeat something like this workout when I go to the gym. I will often do chest presses and lateral pulldowns instead of chest flyes and reverse flyes, but the main template stays the same.

You will need access to cable or specific exercise machines for this workout, and not much else outside of a mat. There is an option to use a stability ball for the sit-ups, but you can complete them on the floor with a mat if you don’t have one.
Let me know if you give it a try!
- celebratory weekend in Nashville
This year kicked off all of my middle, high school and college friends turning 40, and yes, I am on deck for the big welcome into the next decade coming up in April. There are a few trips planned to honor this big milestone in the near future, and the first one to start the celebrations happened earlier this month.

Thanks to the incredible planning of her husband, one of my best friends from middle school, Ashley, was whisked away to Nashville complete with four of her friends showing up as a surprise throughout the weekend. I was the last one to arrive late Thursday night, and we had two full days of brunching, toasting, tractor riding and honky tonkying. It was such a blast!

Some restaurants stops included Two Hands, Butcher & Bee, and The Hampton Social. We made plenty of walks through Broadway, but our group’s best finds were off of the main (touristy) path in Printer’s Alley. Also, The Nashville Tractor was probably the best highlight of all – it was 90 minutes of riding around in the back of a tractor with a DJ and drinks. My stomach actually hurt from laughing so hard and I would definitely do it again.

- Halloween decorations in NYC
Mid-October through mid-December is my favorite time of year in New York City. The weather cools down, the fall foliage is in full force and the magic of the holidays is around and displayed throughout all the boroughs. As you can imagine, the streets become busier with more tourists after the first week of December, so this is why the two month window mentioned above is the chef’s kiss for me.

With a city full of talented artists and creative people, it makes sense that Halloween decorations are a bit out-of-the-norm and very cool. Check out this Ghostbusters display I saw in the West Village!

It’s definitely more of a homemade artistic spin on decorating around here.
Halloween is a special holiday specifically in our Brooklyn neighborhood. People ask how Skyler goes trick-or-treating in the city, and we don’t even go outside of a half mile radius of our apartment. We are smack dab in the middle of Park Slope, which is an ideal trick-or-treating neighborhood filled with kids, dogs and families dressed up to the nines. Everything starts early by 5 p.m. and you can walk up and down the blocks from stoop to stoop – each one being totally different from the last.

Some people put a few spider webs up, but some buildings go ALL OUT and create entire themes like last year’s Barbie House. It was incredible!

The same brownstone created a Beetlejuice themed display this year, and I’ll have to share more pics of Halloween in Park Slope on the next batch of favorites.
Needless to say, it’s a good time to walk around and take it all in!
- Marc Scibilia concert
I found Marc Scibilia on Instagram awhile ago, and I was instantly drawn to his one-man style of creating and looping covers with original music. His at-home studio of equipment is really impressive, and he has worked for twenty years to finally get to the place of touring the country and filling venues that he is today. I started following him when he had about 45K followers, and the fact that he is almost at 1 million now is really cool to see.
We had to get tickets to hear him live when we saw he was coming to New York!

The venue changed at the last minute, but it seemed to work in our favor as we were able to get right up to the front row of the floor with $25 general admission tickets. He had a fantastic opener — Cassandra Coleman — and he played a mix of original songs, covers and mash-ups for over an hour on his own.
He invited everyone to come say hello at the merchandise table after the concert, and the whole thing felt like a VIP experience. He was great to meet and very humble.

Go check him out if you haven’t before!
All right, I’m going to wrap things up there for today and take advantage of some down time with Skyler being home from school with my mom in town. You can follow along for more workout inspo, daily eats, outings, real talk and more over on Instagram in between posts over here.
Thanks for reading today and have a wonderful weekend!
