I hope you all are having a fantastic start to your Monday! This week is going to be quite the busy one for me. In just a few days, I will be heading over to the west coast to attend my first blogging conference in Portland, Oregon.
It’s called FitBloggin’ and I CAN.NOT.WAIT to get there, meet an exciting group of healthy living and fitness bloggers, learn some blogging tips + tricks, and even take a few fitness classes!
Speaking of fellow health and fitness bloggers, I recently found out Katie (who is about two seconds from giving birth, by the way) hosts a weekly weekend recap segment called Marvelous in My Monday. It makes Monday a little easier to transition into, and gives me an excuse to highlight my weekend with you, so I hopped on board this week.
We will get right to it in just a minute….
First, I have a FRS Healthy Energy Giveaway Winner to announce! Thank you to all who took the time to enter in it. It was neat to read your enthusiasm and to see which products stood out to you.
Using random.org, I selected entry #3 as the winner. Congratulations to Eva!
Please email me at hwglamour@gmail.com with your full name and address so I can get a free sample pack on it’s way to you! (And also, I happen to be drinking the orange flavored powder as I type. I hope you like it!)
Marvelous In My Monday – Weekend Recap
Okay… let’s rewind back to this weekend shall we?
The majority of my time Saturday and Sunday was spent assisting HOOPER, the Detroit Pistons Mascot. Last week, I mentioned that this furry fellow has been keeping me pretty busy this off-season. This week, I had the pleasure/challenge of following him around and trying to keep things under control for five different events.
WHEW!
There are two things I want to point out in the picture collage above:
1. Apparently our home arena also doubles as a summer home to Canadian Geese. (Look at the babies!)
2. Yes, that is Andre Drummond… and yes, I also think he looks like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air in that picture. (<- had to. Sorry.) He’s awesome!
When I wasn’t running around chasing a crazy horse, I found some time Saturday to take a pair of new running kicks out for a spin. They are from the new Reebok ONE Series and you can read my full review on them, if you are so inclined.
They rock, and I was really happy to stumble upon a close neighborhood I can now stop into and knock out a few miles in.
It was a great run. I hadn’t had a goal to complete over five miles in a while, and I got back to our house in exactly 6.2 , which is the distance of a 10K. I will for sure be revisiting that route in the near future.
Detroit River Days
On my way home from a HOOPER event Sunday afternoon, I got word about something that sounded fun downtown from Scott. Detroit River Days in an annual weekend of celebration on the Detroit River Walk with activities including carnival rides, jet ski tours, live music, street performers, and art displays.
There was also a 5K race Saturday morning, which I am bummed I missed. Obstacle 5Ks are really fun to do, but I want to get a regular timed 5K race down in the books someday soon.
Sunday was the first time we had ever visited the Detroit Riverfront. I am really glad we made it down there because it is gorgeous by the water and gave me a different perspective on things available for us to do in Downtown Detroit.
The coolest part about the river is what is directly on the other side of it…. CANADA. Seriously! It’s right there.
There we are standing right in front of the city of Windsor. I still can’t believe I can travel to another country and back to my house within a few hours, if I wanted to. Pretty freaking cool!
While we are living up here, I plan to take advantage of it just being a bridge away. Later this summer, Scott and I plan to make a weekend of it and stay over there to see the city.
After a weekend of being on-the-go and few hours of walking and exploring outside, I was quite the tired pup when we got home Sunday night. Scott and I spent the rest of our night relaxing and getting ready for the week ahead.
Off to run some errands for my trip this week. Have a great Monday!
