Reader Survey Results

Hey guys! Today I thought I would bring it back a couple of weeks and talk about the Reader Survey I shared towards the end of last month.

First and foremost, I have to thank each and every one of you who took the time to fill out the survey! I didn’t attach a giveaway or anything “in it for you” at the end of it, and knowing that you willingly wanted your thoughts as a reader to be heard just for the heck of filling it out (and maybe in hopes of helping this blog) really means a lot.

Second, I want you to know that I have gone in and literally read every single response. I didn’t upgrade to the cool survey package that I could customize, and before I sent it out it looked a lot prettier. As it turns out, without upgrading, I was only able to see the results from 100 of you.

If you took the time to fill out the survey, I really wanted to be able to access the information. So I upgraded.

I really enjoyed reading through every single answer with all 300 entries! I especially loved reading over the comments/suggestions box and have a whole list of reader requested post ideas to keep me busy for a while.

I will do my best to fulfill every one! Eventually…

For now, I thought it would be fun to share the results with you. Seeing them might help you understand where I plan to keep/take the focus of the blog in the future and I can only hope that you’ll join me for the ride!

HWG Reader Survey Results

The biggest piece of information I got from the survey concerned the blog title: Housewife Glamour.

As you already know, I’m not in love with it and I have wanted to change it for quite some time. Welp… you guys helped me confirm that decision and made your thoughts very clear!

Of course, there were some “it fits well” responses in there, but overall, this is the general response I saw over and over.

(Shout out to this answer, by the way. It made me laugh!)

So that’s a done deal. I’m happy to report that a new domain has been purchased, and I am ridiculously eager to get the whole re-design and changeover process in motion.

I asked how long you all have been reading the blog out of pure curiosity.

I feel like my style of writing has dramatically changed since I first started back in 2011, and I owe a big thanks to those who have stuck with me from the beginning of writing in a lot of CAPS, bold and underlined sentences with an abundance of explanation points! (!!!!!) Yikes.

New or old readers, I am so very grateful to have you!

I wanted to see how many of you leave blog post comments because I have a hunch that actually taking the time to leave comments on blog posts in general has taken a huge downfall in the blogosphere.

To those of you who actively comment on posts (I see and totally appreciate every single comment!), thank you! I guess it’s assuring to find out that there are a lot more active readers out there than commenters.

I was surprised to find out that the majority of you who read this blog aren’t bloggers yourselves.

I don’t know why I thought this way (maybe cuing in from the comments section?), but I would have bet money that the majority of my readers were bloggers too. Couldn’t tell you why!

In a way, it’s almost cooler to see that most of you aren’t bloggers, and that you choose to read this one. It means a lot!

I included a question on post frequency because over the past six months or so I went from posting once a week day (and most Saturdays) to twice a week day. I enjoy checking in with y’all in the morning, and usually have more to talk about in the afternoon, so I guess that’s why I started posting so much. Plus, even if there is a sponsored post scheduled, you’ll still hear something more personal and unsponsored from me that day this way. I like the balance.

It looks like the vast majority of you like this new schedule!

I’ll plan to keep at it as long as it makes sense with my schedule.

Speaking of sponsored posts… most of you don’t seem to mind one every once in a while.

I’m so glad to hear that, because sponsored posts are something that is required for me to be able to blog as frequently as I do. As much as I would choose to work from home and blog anyways, I can only justify doing so if there is a paycheck to contribute towards it here and there.

For that reason, you will see filtered in sponsored content from time to time, but I promise to always stay authentic in my thoughts and reviews. Just so you know, I almost always ask for some sort of giveaway along with a review if it makes sense for the campaign. I want you guys to benefit from these reviews too!

I recently read a great post by Brittany addressing everything relative to this subject. She did a wonderful job explaining the process and goals a lot of bloggers (including me) strive for!

And last, but not least, let’s touch on the content:

Wow, friends. You really surprised me here!

I was expecting a lot more “STOP” and “I don’t mind them” answers. What I got was a ton of “LOVE it, I want more!” and “Like it, you could probably do more of those” responses. So, it looks like you don’t want too much to change around here, huh? That is wonderful to hear!

According to the survey, you guys enjoy reading Friday Favorites the most, followed by personal posts. I guess I clump everything from weekend recaps to entertainment and travel posts into that category.

I got a lot of requests to share more about my dance background, and well as more beauty and fashion related posts and how-to tutorials, so I will do my best to come through there.

I’ll have to get a little more creative now that I don’t live in sequins and eyelashes anymore… but it will come together.

I also received a lot of specific workout requests and am looking forward to putting those together and sharing them with you!

What I Ate Wednesdays was one of the highest scoring subjects, which actually surprised me. I enjoy putting them together, but they always make me a little nervous to post.

If I slip up and eat too much “junk”, how does that inspire you to eat healthy? To be honest, I have thought about backing off from WIAW posts over the last few months. Now that I know a lot of you like reading them, I guess it won’t hurt to keep them around for a bit longer!

Maybe I’ll stop when I get to WIAW #100. It’s crazy to think how fast the weeks fly by, isn’t it?

Also, it looks like I need to step up my recipe creating game because most of you enjoy seeing those pop up too. I’ve really been slacking there, so hopefully that changes sooner than later!

Moving forward, my goals are to keep the content of the “new” blog familiar and only change what’s necessary. There will be a new blog name and a new blog design, but I promise it will only be easier and more reader friendly to page through.
