Well, hey there friends. I hope you are all having a fabulous Hump Day! Mine is… well… going.
You see, I had a pretty fun night last night as we officially started the kick-off to the new season with our first home Pre-Season game! I’m not sure if I am just getting older or the nights are getting longer, but after a full game of sitting and performing on court I was feeling it.
My back, my legs, my neck… everything. But, it’s all a part of it and I’m not here to complain! Slowly but surely, I’m regaining the pep in my step today.
Last night, however, everyone was all smiles! There was a lot to be excited about, and we even got to wear pink to show our support for October being breast cancer awareness month.
And speaking of going PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness…
It’s time for a special October edition of WIAW!

What I Ate Wednesday Tuesday
Like I said, I don’t know if everything is catching up to me at once of if I am just feeling older, but I can’t seem to get enough sleep lately. Where it used to take me at least an hour of unwind time at night to fall asleep, I have been out like a light in not time and average 8-9 hours of shut eye if my schedule allows it.
Remember, this is coming from someone who used to function on a consistent 4-6 hours back in Orlando. Weird.
Anyways, back to the eats! Breakfast was a tasty one with a jazzed up version of scrambled egg whites.
This time I threw in green peppers, grape tomatoes, and Southwest seasoned deli turkey and topped it all off with ground pepper.
About an hour later, I got a craving for something sweet and handled that one with a serving (or two) of fresh raspberries, blackberries and grapes.

I could keep refilling this and snack on it all day long if you’d let me!
Knowing it was going to be a long night, Scott came home for lunch before going to the arena and asked for a big green salad for lunch.
I started with mixture of kale, chard, and spring mixed greens for the base. Next, I added any vegetables I had accessible including red and orange bell peppers, chick peas, green olives, grape tomatoes, shredded carrots and avocado. I topped it with a light Ranch dressing (not pictured) because I was craving it, and served a Qrunch quinoa burger (Italian Seasoned. YUM) on the side for some substance.
That did the trick and held me over for the next couple of hours until after blocking on the court was over. This year, we have pre-made sandwiches, wraps, salad, and fruit in our dressing rooms for home games.
I grabbed half of a veggie wrap filled with grilled vegetables, and some kind of delicious dressing (hummus?) wrapped into a spinach tortilla. It was better than I expected it to be and powered me through the next few hours of performing at the game!
I guarantee that the majority of on court action photos you will see this season will have most of my hair across my face. (I’m all the way to the right in a squatting ending pose.) #longhairshortbangsproblems
After the game, I joined Scott and a few others for a quick dinner and drink (whipped vodka and Diet Coke. <- which I only drink in alcoholic beverages these days) to celebrate the start of a new year. I swear, I don’t drink that much… but my WIAW’s have been recently falling on event nights with group outings!
I enjoyed a chicken wing and a few bites of Scott’s chili while waiting for my Southwest steak salad to arrive.
It was good, but nothing special. This time I skipped over the ranch and used a side of salsa for dressing. The food was okay, but the overall night was great. We are looking forward to another fun-filled season to come!
Have a great rest of your Wednesday!

What a fun game night! Diet coke and vodka is the only way to drink diet soda! 🙂
Hehe, agreed! 😉
All of your pictures are gorgeous! Holy cow, woman! 🙂 Looks like you had a great day!!
Thanks Miranda!
That breakfast looks DIVINE!!
Your job sounds so fun! I’m jealous!! Which team do you dance for?!
Thank you! I dance for the Detroit Pistons, but also did four seasons with the Orlando Magic!
Lifelong Celtics fan, but you gals are absolutely beautiful, especially in your pink gear! Congrats on the new season-how exciting!
Aw, thank you! 😀
Looks like so much fun!
This is a random question, but do you guys do your own hair and makeup for game days? Or do you have someone around to help?
We occasionally have hair and makeup come into our locker room. We are always expected to do our own, but every now and then will have a surprise from one of our sponsored salons!
