Somebody’s Birthday’s coming up…tomorrow! 🙂
I won’t say who, but they are a pretty big deal in my life. Okay, okay…it’s Scott! The birthday boy will be turning 38 thirty-something, I re-arranged my work schedule and we have a great day lined up for us. You’ll here all about what we’ll be up to for his birthday, but for my Word of Wisdom this week I figured a quote about celebrating would be fitting.
Who knew there was a bible quote suggesting I do all of my favorite things? 🙂
Some people are afraid or intimidated at the thought of going to church or becoming a believer. I’ve heard it’s because they feel like they might be “breaking a sweat” for feeling bad about things they do in their every day lives. Good news, God is your number one fan and will always be there to guide you in the right direction.
Anyone who knows me at all knows I enjoy going out to dinner, trying new restaurants, food, desserts and enjoy a glass of wine (or two) every now and then. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating and enjoying life, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
There is, however a difference in enjoying life’s luxuries and taking them for granted. Scott and I now have “an app for that.” Really…it’s called Mint, or you can sign up online at Mint.com. I’ll go into budgeting and managing your spending on another post down the road, but for now I can tell you we actually get alerts via text message when we’ve done too much “extra” spending. Pretty cool, huh?
This category includes dinners out, movies, entertainment, shows, shopping, etc. We set a limit for what we can spend per month and once that hits we get notified and that’s it. God wants you to enjoy the small things in life and favors you to treating yourself every once in a while too. The important thing is just to find the line of what “too much” or “overboard” is.
So there you have it in black + white (or in this case pink + green):
God wants you to be happy. Go on and live a little!

WOW! (Not Word of Wisdom) but Wow! That's awesome Jenna! Tell your brother I love his work and that we use Mint.com at least once a day.
You go, bro! 🙂
