Hi friends! I don’t have too much time to chat this afternoon, but I wanted to share some more snapshots from our weekend.
In case you missed it, I covered our Detroit Date Night from Friday night this morning, and it started snowing as soon as we got home from our date later that night.
Not only did it snow, but it snooooowed. For the first time this season, we were predicted to get about 3-5 inches on Saturday!
Here’s a shot of what it looked like when I finished my shift at the gym around 11 a.m.
With a slippery turn of the tires, I was quickly reminded to slow down and drive at snowfall (i.e. turtle) pace. For the Southerners reading this, driving in the snow is a whole different story!
By the time I got home, there was already at least 3 inches built up on our deck and balcony.
Even though we still technically have a month left of fall… winter has definitely shown itself. I know. I could have waited another month, too.
The forecast in our area first predicted the snowfall to stop around Noon. Several hours later… here we still were.
We got at least 6-8 inches before sunset!
Scott and I made it out to hang out with some friends later that night, and even just a 30 minute trip onto the highway and back reminded me why I prefer to stay indoors throughout the majority of the winter days. We saw about ten cars either stuck on the side of the road or in a ditch, and one car spun out and crashed into the side rail of the highway right in front of us!
Ahhh. I just get so nervous for the people driving around me! Slow and steady wins the race, people.
On a lighter note, my Sunday was much more pleasant. The snow stopped falling, and the roads were clear enough for me to feel safe driving wherever. It’s a good thing, too, because I had plans to meet Alex for a morning barre class!
After hearing me rave about it, she purchased her own membership to The Barre Code, and I was looking forward to having her join me at the Rochester Hills studio.
Class was great! We used ankle weights, balls, and light dumbbells throughout the duration of class that focused on toning the booty and thighs. I felt the barre burn for sure!
After barre, we pulled the basic card and drove over to Downtown Rochester for brunch at Rochester Brunch House.
I just love the atmosphere there, especially now that it is decorated for the holidays!
I was considerably hungry by the time we ordered, so I went with my usual choice of an omelet.
Pete’s omelet (egg whites, spinach, onions, mushrooms, and feta) with a side of potatoes, tomato slices, and turkey sausage.
I ate every single bite and practically licked the plate clean. #noshame
I said my goodbyes to Alex and then headed home to an anxious dog waiting for me in inside. He always gets thrown off when the snow first starts falling. It’s like he almost forgets what it is and why it’s all over our neighborhood.
It was warm (for Michigan) out (um… mid-30s?), so I put my shades on and took Roadie for a two mile walk around the neighborhood. I usually take him for a few walks in the snow before I even attempt to go running with him. It gets slippery on the ice and sidewalks that aren’t plowed!
We made it to the trail, shortly walked through it, and turned back around to head home. You can tell in the picture below that he’s still not too sure about all of this white stuff…
Ha, I love that there’s snow on his face. He always buries his nose and investigates! I personally think he’s trying to figure out where all of the grass went. He’s so funny.
Scott attended his first Detroit Lions game with a group of guys, so Roadie and I spent the afternoon cuddled up on the couch with the kitties and Netflix. Is it embarrassing to also note that we watched 101 Dalmations (with people, not cartoons) together? It’s one of the few times he’s intently starred at the screen to watch! So cute.
Scott got home around dinner time, and we spent the rest of our weekend getting ready for the week ahead. My mom is coming in town tomorrow, so I’ve got plenty to do before she arrives!
Thanks for checking in, and stay warm out there if you’re in my neck of the woods!

I definitely wasn’t prepared. There’s still over a foot on my balcony and all around!

We still don’t have snow here which is SO WEIRD living in Northern Wisconsin. I’m like … how come everyone else has snow and we’re just really effing cold? I guess I shouldn’t be complaining but …

I know how that is too… last year we didn’t get a crazy amount of snowfall, but we had record-breaking low temps. I remember thinking, “If it’s going to be this cold, can I at least get some snow credit?” lol

I remember my pups first interaction with snow last winter… he ran around the yard trying to find the grass to use the bathroom haha! But now he loves it and tends to go a little crazy in it!

You got hit way harder than we did. I was still not ready for the snow, but alas it’s here and not going anywhere.

It’s even higher today… if that’s possible. Hello, winter!
