Hello! I hope you all have had a great Hump Day.
After the last several days of being on-the-go, skipping workouts, and eating anything convenient (and not necessarily healthy), it felt great to grab Roadie and hit the trails for our favorite 4 mile loop today.
Since I haven’t been doing much short(er) distance running lately, I haven’t been able to take him with me for my training runs for a couple of weeks. I missed my time on on the trails with him.
With temperatures in the low 50s, both of us trucked along at a great pace. It was gorgeous out!
Every time I looked down, Roadie was sniffing something or had a smile on his face. He seemed so happy, and that made me happy.
I’m cherishing these runs with him all I can before the winter rolls in!
By the way, I realized I love Mizuno Wave Rider 18 running shoes even more than I thought. Just to compare, I threw on my Wave Rider 17 sneakers for today’s run and noticed a big difference in flexibility and cushioning. I’ll be sporting the 18s this weekend for sure!
I’m not totally sticking to my Half-Marathon training plan, but I decided that today will be my last run before my next half on Sunday. I have a training appointment tomorrow, so I’ll be sure to spend Friday and Saturday resting and stretching my muscles.
After our run, I completed a quick core circuit that included crunches, planks, side elbow planks with twists, and Supermans.
I’m saving my arm exercises for tomorrow’s gym session, so I went straight to the refrigerator and assembled a random, yet delicious smoothie.
Frozen spinach, frozen grapes, frozen strawberries, a sliced banana, a cup of blueberry Greek yogurt, blueberries, and a splash of almond milk.
My body was actually craving fruits and vegetables, so it hit the spot!
Does that ever happen to you?
After a long weekend (and then some) of treating myself, it felt great to get back into the healthy swing of things again!

I have a handful of projects I need to tackle tonight, on top of answering an exploded email box. There’s a Pistons home game tonight, but I decided to stay home and catch up on life for the night instead. It’s a fabulous plan.
Questions of the Day
• Do you ever crave getting back into the “healthy swing of things”?
• What are some of your favorite smoothie ingredients right now?
Even though it’s getting chilly, I still crave smoothies and am in need of some inspiration for new combinations and ideas! Thanks in advance. <3

I hear ya – after a day or two of eating quick meals and skipping workouts I just want some salad and a trip to the gym!

Yay for finding a balance! 🙂

Oh my goodness that big smile! Roadie is adorable! Quick question…can you recommend an awesome pair of running/gym tights that keep you warm during winter? (just moved from Scottsdale to Milwaukee a few weeks ago and haven’t lived in winter for 12 years haha)
Heather
Great question! I probably need to invest in some true “winter” leggings, but for now, the thickest and best pair I own to keep me warm are from Lorna Jane! They’re called the Amy F/L Tight and you can see my review here: https://lifeinleggings.com/holidays/lorna-jane-activewear-mnb-xx/
You just made me realize I have never really shared about proper running attire for the winter. Sounds like a great post idea, thanks!

Yes, I can completely empathize with the craving for your normal healthy lifestyle. When I get off track, I just feel really blah all the time– no energy, lowered confidence, etc.
Also, your dog is soooo cute! My German shepherd mix, Morton, is about the same size. I love taking him on runs with me.
Heather
Exactly. I always feel slow and “off”… aw, your pup sounds so cute!

The “healthy swing” helps mr sleep better and feel better, so I miss it when I’m “off”. I’m a big fan of lots of spinach and a little bit of mango in my smoothies
Heather
Love mango in my smoothies. Great suggestion!
