Good Morning! I’m getting off to a later start today, but that certainly wasn’t the case yesterday. My friend Missy invited me to join her power yoga class at 6:45am, and surprisingly I was all about it.
Ever since subbing in for super early 6am barre classes, I’ve really enjoyed early morning workouts. Will I get up for the heck of it and workout by myself before 7am? Probably not, however, having a fitness class to attend or fitness buddy usually helps the motivation factor.
Missy is also an advocate of fitness classes, and introduced me to dance trance earlier this year. <– thanks for that!
At the top of class we were greeted with a “Good Morning Yogis!” from the instructor. I have to admit it felt kind of cool to be considered one… at least in my mind! (Ha.)
By the way, have you seen the S*** Yogis say video?
I’ve taken a few slower, meditation focused yoga classes, as well as a power yoga class in New York, but enjoyed Power Hour at Orlando Power Yoga the best so far. It was a power vinyasa – or flow – class in a warm room of 90 degrees.
I emphasize the word warm, because hot yoga is usually considered classes set at 105 degrees with at least 40% humidity. Whether it was hot or warm, within 2 minutes of changing poses, I was dripping sweat and loving it.
Sometimes it just feels good to sweat – like you’re releasing all of the “bad” toxins in your body.
Am I alone here?
New to any form of yoga? It isn’t for everyone, but I think you should at least try it once.
If you’re up for it, here’s a a few rules to basic yoga etiquette you should know. Now get out there, get active and try it already! 🙂
After a nice sweat early in the morning, I was in the mood for something refreshing and cold when I got home. I’ve been on a smoothie kick lately, and with a goal of trying to use up the rest of our bananas before they turn stumbled upon a new favorite.
Berry Banana Protein Smoothie
Totally winging it, I wrote down measurements as I went so I could relay them here, but feel free to change it up by adding more fruit, more protein, leaving out the chia seeds, etc.
Ingredients
1 cup Dannon Vanilla Light & Fit Yogurt
1 cup ice (optional – I like smoothies on the thicker side)
1 cup orange juice
2 bananas
2/3 cup fresh strawberries
1 scoop whey protein powder
1 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp natural granola
servings: 2
Directions
Smoothies are pretty self-explanatory.
Start by measuring out the ingredients.
Throw everything into the blender and blend.
After about 20 seconds of blending, I always do a taste test to make sure it’s up to par.
This smoothie was good, but I decided to add 2 tbsp of Bear Naked Fit Triple Berry Crunch granola, taking it from good to great.
Perfect.
This recipe makes enough for one filling breakfast, or two satisfying snacks.
Berry, banana & protein packed deliciousness.
Questions
Have you ever tried hot (or warm) yoga? What’s your favorite kind of practice?
Do you like to use granola in your smoothies?

This looks delicious! I always make the green monster smoothie. I stick in my greens when I can, and I add oats to mine.
Thanks! I’m dying to try the green monster & it’s coming up on my list to make for sure. Also, I love the idea of adding oats! Thanks 🙂
That smoothie looks tasty! I’ve never tried granola in my smoothies, but have tried oats or chia seeds. I love how it makes it thicker.
Me too! I love the texture of granola, so I’m sure I would love oats just as much!
Berry and banana in one protein smoothie? Oh wait!I have make one of this.
