It’s been quite some time since I posted a video.
I know this afternoon’s post is coming later than usual, but that’s how it usually goes when I am trying to upload anything to YouTube. I never know if or when it is going to work!
For whatever reason, I was in a mood for vlogging today and invite you to join me over a cup of coffee (or whatever) to chat.
For anyone who reads blogs, stalks the lives of celebrities, or thinks their friends’ lives on social media is perfect, this talk is for YOU! Enjoy. <3

Thank you so much for reading, and I’ll see you in the morning! xo
Strength and Sunshine
Hahaha, omg I love you! We would so be friends in “real-life” 😉
Heather
Hehe I say in “real life” all the time. I swear bloggers really feel that way to me!
Beth
Aw, Heather, I loved this! It is so refreshing to see a blogger “keeping it real”. I also relate to your traffic ticket ordeal! I just got a ticket for supposedly running a red light a few weeks ago in downtown Cleveland (some sneaky cameras caught me and I received a notice in the mail.)
I do think real life is so much more interesting than the contrived stuff, keep these posts up 🙂
Also, your hair looks great!
xo- Beth (we met in Cali at IDEA!)
Heather
Haha, thanks!! Oh no… camera tickets are the WORST! I haven’t gotten one by my husband has!
Heather
PS: Oh my gosh, HI BETH!!! It was so great meeting you and hope to run into you again in the future!! xo
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
This video was so fun! Love you trying to work through your writer’s block. I I think it’s great how you are explaining that the perfect situatios is a myth. Bottom line is we should not be comparing ourselves to others. I know I fall into this trap sometimes too, and it is always good to have a reminder. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Heather
Hehe, thanks. That literally happens sometimes. Glad it could give you a laugh 😉
Carrie C.
I constantly envy bloggers, and other people in general who look like they have it “all together”, like the toughest part of their day is picking between lip stick shades, or doing their hair. I honestly appreciate it when a blogger takes the time to relay the message that they are normal too. thank you 🙂
Heather
I don’t think anybody has it “all together”… except for maybe people who are rich enough to hire people to do a lot for them. But even so, they still aren’t perfect. We just have to remember that what we write about is really just the highlights of our lives! Thank you for reading!
cleaneatingveggiegirl
You are HILARIOUS! 😉 Love this!
Heather
Ha, or a huge dork. Thanks for watching 😉
monique
This is the first vlog i have seen of yours and i thought it was great! 😉
I have been reading your blog for a few months now and it’s nice to put a voice with the blogs you read!
Heather
Aw, thanks for reading Monique!!
Tanya
Bahahaha – you’re hilarious. I was just scrolling Facebook before I read this, so thanks for the reminder.
Heather
Hehe… glad you found it useful. 😉
Janelle
Thanks for sharing, Heather! I felt like you were really talking to me over a cup of coffee. 🙂 To be honest, I have fallen into the comparison trap, even with you & your blog! It’s easy to think the grass is greener – but I do know life is not a bed of roses for anybody. I work a 9-5 job, & I often think how great it’d be to set my own schedule & blog/write full time. But I also know I have a great job – I work at a school so I get lots of time off throughout the year & benefits. It’s just not necessarily a job that I jump out of bed in the morning to get to, if you know what I mean. I feel like I’m in a weird place of transition, but I don’t want to make any rash decisions. So, all that to say thanks for the reminder to quit comparing my life to others’. I’m going to check out that book, too. Have a great rest of the week!
Heather
Thank you for reading, Janelle! Aw, I’m glad. Come on and enjoy a cup of coffee with me anytime! 😉 To be honest, I love writing and blogging, and consider myself to be doing it full-time, but I’m still not making as much as I would like to. Enough to not feel guilty staying at home and not working a 9-5, that is. But it’s a work in progress, and as long as we can manage and it makes sense to keep going for it, I will. I know I will always blog, regardless if it’s a “job” or not. That’s certainly not why I started doing it! Just like any other job, it takes a lot of dedication, patience, and persistence. I love the teacher’s schedule, and (FUN FACT) I even started my master’s in elementary education! My advice would be to do exactly what you are doing. Wait it out and don’t do anything drastic. I think you would really like the book! <3
Kaylin @ Enticing Healthy Eating
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been at a place in my life lately where I’ve been comparing my own life and current situations to other people’s lives even though I know I shouldn’t…..and I’ve been working on it! But it is tough sometimes. Maybe even tougher than coming up with something for lunch to eat that is more creative and ends up taking an hour….haha! Thanks for being real, Heather! Much appreciated.
Heather
It’s really hard not to get sucked into comparisons. Hey, as 29-year-old who’s been married for three years, I do it all the time when I see my friends with their families! It is tough to look past the initial jealousy. You just always have to remember that posts and status updates only scratch the surface of what really goes on in peoples’ lives!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Haha, I love this! I really like the humor you added to it, but I especially appreciate how much truth is in it too. P.S. Your hair looks great and I want your glasses! 😉
Heather
I’m kind of ridiculous… and thank you!!
pieceofcait
HEHE loved this! thanks for keeping it real and your humour 🙂
Heather
Thank you for watching! 🙂
Sally
I loved this post. Maybe…favorite ever? Anyway, I also loved that book and you reminded me that in this time of transition (I just moved where I don’t know anyone minus my in-laws), I should probably read that book again.
Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne
Love this!!! You should definitely do more of these :).
Jess
Haha, this was great. I love that you’re still real on your blog – it’s refreshing, especially compared to a lot of others who sugarcoat things or just brush the less-than-pleasant things aside.
Tammy
Great post! I really enjoyed the video
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner
I love love love this. I don’t know why I am drawn to blogs that tell me their daily doings but for some reason I am. I think society today just wants to know know know everything about everyone. But your point of everyone’s life is not as glamorous (no pun intended) as it might seem on a blog, so don’t compare yourself was very true. I definitely don’t include the bad parts of my day on the blog – people dont want to read that.
Chrissy @Pink Polish and Running Shoes
OMG I love this video so much haha. Great topic. You are adorable! I love when bloggers are real and aren’t afraid to show the not so blog worthy side of life.
Heather
Glad you enjoyed my dorkiness! 🙂

best.talk.ever!!
Always remember that your comparing your “behind-the-scenes” to someone else’s “highlight reel”.. they’re only the posting the BEST, like you had mentioned.
Thanks for this & I absolutely LOVED watching!! 🙂
Heather
I love that quote!! So true. And thanks for watching!
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Thanks for sharing this! I totally relate to the anxiety over the question “what do you do?” because what I do is blog/freelance and work at a cafe. It’s just hard to explain and not feel like people judge you for being lazy or something…because people have NO idea how much work goes into blogging!
Also giggled when you said “they will cut you” about bringing a phone into the courthouse!
What do you use to record/edit videos? I tried with my iPhone once but I looked super weird and distorted lol
Heather
Haha, thanks!! And right?! It’s a super awkward question to answer sometimes. I used iMovie to record and edit this video but occasionally use my iPhone!
Glitz Glam Gluten-Free
Love this post and you for keeping it so real! Can’t wait to read that book now!
Heather
Thanks! Let me know if you end up giving it a read!
