Morning! Mine actually started on an early note today.
Scott’s parents are currently en route to us, driving all the way from Powell, Missouri. We haven’t seen them since our visit over the summer so we are really excited to have them, especially for Thanksgiving!
That alone makes today marvelous… but for the sake of tradition I am linking up with Katie and sharing what made my weekend pretty marvelous too.
Scratch marvelous, let’s go with epic. Ahhh!
Friday Night at the Game
If you happened to stop by here on the weekend, you probably caught my highlights from Friday’s game. Releasing our 2014-15 Pistons Dancers Calendar was a true stand-out moment, not just for this season but for all of my seasons dancing in the NBA.
Part of our job entails signing autographs for fans, but dedicating an entire halftime to us then signing calendars for the remainder of the game felt like such a big deal. Friday night is one I will remember and cherish for years to come.
After the game, a group of us went over to a local favorite spot for a little Friday Night karaoke.
Of course we didn’t plan on singing… but we all know how that goes. We may or may not have torn that stage up!
… and that’s why we should really stick to dancing. Good times!
Saturday
Saturday called for rest and knocking off projects around the house and on the computer. Scott woke up early for an event and a flag football game while I enjoyed the extra few hours of shut eye. (Hehe.)
Just a few minutes after he got home for the day, I received a last minute request to make an appearance at the practice facility. Surprise! It was to film a fun segment for Good Morning America!
If you haven’t heard the story yet, this article explains it all. I have met Shannon (The Dancing Usher) before and he is great. Antwain (the 11-year-old) was adorable too. He was so excited to be there, well spoken, and grateful for everything that’s happened since that game last Tuesday.
They had a blast trash talking and challenging each other in different ways.
It was so much fun! Check out the video that aired the next Morning.
We wrapped up around 6:30 p.m. and Scott and I had full intentions of going vacuum shopping. (Yes… our second attempt.) After arriving a few minutes past store closing, we were going to catch a night time showing of Catching Fire but decided to call it a night instead. Scott was exhausted!
Chili over whole wheat penne noodles and catching up on The Voice proved to be just as exciting.
I also fit in some ornament surgeries while we lounged.
Every year a handful of ornaments always get the short end of the stick, either by me stepping on or dropping them. Even though Scott was a less than happy about it, I convinced him it was nothing a little super glue can’t fix.
Success!
Sunday
I knew Sunday would be busy day. I woke up early and got out the door around 9 a.m. to head to a six hour halftime practice at the arena.
Do you want to know what motivates me on mornings like those? A large cup of coffee and a Subway stop.
I may or may not have been their first sub of the day when I also ordered a foot long turkey, American cheese and tons of veggies on wheat for lunch to split with a teammate. I told you… I need to invest in some serious stock, ya’ll. #everydaysubwayproblems
We ended up getting out an hour early after a productive practice for our big TLC halftime coming up later this week!
It’s also when we play the Lakers, so Friday will for sure be an exciting game!
I got home by 4 p.m. and both Scott and I got cleaned up and ready to go knock out some early holiday shopping. I still can’t believe how cold it is already… it dropped down to the twenties for majority of the weekend!
Soooo not ready for this.
Warm coats in hand, we drove over to the Somerset Collection in Birmingham. With three stories of shopping and a walkway crossing over to another entire building, it’s one of the fanciest malls I have ever been to. It also had an impressive Photos with Santa set-up in the middle.
I just love Christmastime.
There wasn’t much time to shop before the stores closed, so we fit in what we could and left to go grocery shopping. On the way we passed a Noodles & Company and thought that sounded perfect for dinner.
I ordered the Chinese Chicken Chop Salad.
Scott got the Thai Hot Pot.
I may have gotten a little jealous, but both were great!
We arrived at Meijer right around 7:30 and didn’t get home until after 9 p.m. Apparently our trip was a serious one that took over an hour and required two grocery carts. We did score some deals on holiday scented candles AND found some quality entertainment in the home decor aisle.
(Just in case and of you are in need of a ridiculously large & sign, you now know where to find it.)
Finally home for the night, we watched more of The Voice in the background (this season is so good!) and unloaded groceries for quite a while. Before bed, I set up this 3 foot tree for downstairs since I miss having the tree on and around while I’m typing away in the basement during the days!
Oh there’s a problem with the lights? Yeah, I noticed that once I got it all decorated. I spent a good while trying to find the misbehaving bulb, but wasn’t too successful there. For now, I think being half lit gives it more character. 😉
Today is the start of a crazy busy week! We have four home games in seven days. And then there’s that holiday, Thanksgiving, we will be hosting on Thursday. Scott’s parents arrive tonight and I have every intention of checking in with you guys every day. Fingers crossed!
Off to finish cleaning, Fitness Pilates, then getting ready for the game. Have a great start to your week!

I love that little tree! I really want one for my dorm room but they’re SO expensive ($30!). Since I don’t think I’ll use it again, it’s not worth buying. Sadly!! Your weekend looks like such a blast!

I know… this one was actually a hand-me-down so I couldn’t resist putting it up! To could probably put a small one on a desk or in a guest or bathroom later on. 😉
