Good morning! I can’t believe Friday is already here, but hey, I’ll take it.
There aren’t too many plans on the radar for my weekend. (I can’t say the same for Scott!) I am looking forward to some much needed down time after work tomorrow, and I am sincerely hoping that all of this talk about a possible snow storm in our area is some kind of joke. I know it’s late-November, but I’m just not ready. Anyone with me?
Instead of bumming out about the rapid temperature drop, let’s roll into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites!
I always invite you guys to play along in the comments section, and if you’re looking for more faves to browse, make sure to check out the blogger link-up section at the bottom!
Friday Favorites #116: Week of 11/20
• Puffins (gluten-free) cereal
You know how some people say certain cereals are like crack in a box? That’s pretty much what’s going on here.
I love any type of Puffins cereal, really. My latest obsession is with the Multigrain flavor that also happen to be gluten-free. I could probably eat half a box in one sitting, but I won’t… this time.
I grabbed several a few hefty handfuls for an afternoon snack yesterday, and they actually tasted better without the bowl of milk! I bet the Peanut Butter and Pumpkin flavors are dangerous.
• “xo” stud earrings
I received these KRIS NATIONS “XO” Stud Earrings in my September POPSUGAR Must Have Box, and I have already worn them several times.
In fact, I wear them any time I don’t want to wear my diamond studs. I’ve gotten plenty of compliments on them, so I see these cute little letters sticking around in my earring rotation for quite a while. You can find them online and in silver .
• Nike Orive sneakers
I picked up these Nike Orive sneakers for a steal ($65) on a recent trip into JCPenney last month. (Some of you might remember me partnering them – and *pssst* the giveaway is still active!) Since then, I think I’ve worn one other pair of sneakers to the gym since then… once. They’re the perfect lightweight training shoe!
If you’re in the market for a new pair of gym shoes, you can find these exact shoes at your local JCPenney, or online here, here, and here (<- love the color variations).
And speaking of giveaways, *Metro Detroit locals*: you can still enter to win a $150 gift card to pamper yourself at Salon Legato, too!
• Scrabble Electronic Catchphrase
If you haven’t played with your family or a group of friends yet, you’re truly missing out!
It is a timed game that challenges you to guess words and phrases in five different categories. It’s best to play with at least four or more people, and it gets intense. It’s a great family-friendly game to break out in any setting, and we play it pretty often!
• chopped salad kits
I don’t know where I’ve been , but I just discovered DOLE Chopped Salad Kits a couple of weeks ago. We’ve tried a few flavors, and now we’re hooked!
I usually don’t use the entire bag at once. I will occasionally, but most of the time I will layer my plate(s) with a bed of lettuce and add extra toppings to make the bag last a couple of days. What can I say, I like loading my salads!
I have also been loving burrito bowls, and the one you see below includes Spanish rice, black beans, shredded chicken, salsa, and the Southwest chopped salad kit topped in cheese.
Yum!
• Cali turned lap cat
This might seem like a lame favorite to include, but it’s kind of a big deal that I captured a photo of Cali lying on my lap. While she loves to be pet and cuddled, for whatever reason, she’s never been one to jump up on our laps.
Aspen (our grey kitty) has been a lap cat since the day we brought them home!
They’re so funny…
Cali lets us hold her, Aspen does not. Aspen enjoys the extra attention when guests are over while Cali hides in our bedroom. They’re so different!
We can’t figure out exactly what happened, but for the first time ever, Cali has been jumping up onto our laps over the last couple of weeks and will even fall asleep there. I don’t know what took her six years, but we’re loving it!

In honor of #TGIT winter finales of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder last night…
(Does anyone else think the mid-season break until mid-February is a little excessive?)
All accurate.

Have a great weekend!

Susie @ SuzLyfe
I may or may not hoard puffins. I mean, it is just good practice, right? I also may or may not have bought 2 (maybe 3) boxes of pumpkin o’s last winter before they took them off the shelves and kept them all year until this late summer/early fall when I was ready for them, in case TJ’s didn’t bring them back. Well, come on, they have a tendency to cancel my favorite things! Have a great weekend, Heather! Stay warm…

Oh man, SNOW??! We were just in the Midwest last weekend and the weather was perfect. I guess you’re right, it is that time of year. I’m also a fan of salad kits. My husband and I use to eat them all of the time in college and we’re just talking about how we should get back in the habit again!

We used to have Puffins and Kix here in Canada, but not anymore 🙁 Those were my two FAVOURITE cereals as a kid!! Ugh, I don’t envy you in Michigan. I’ll take my west coast rain over snow and below freezing any day! Happy Friday!

Well, technically, it’s called Scrabble Catchphrase… but it just seems like electronic catchphrase to me! I love it!
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood
Ugh x14829240482 to snow. No thanks. I’m not looking forward to that. Nope. Also, I love that your cat randomly sat in your lap! My cat is definitely not cuddly, but every once in a while she will cuddle and it’s always nice!

Haha, your exaggerated number is very much on point. Look like we’ll both take all the snuggles we can get! 😉

The pumpkin puffins ARE dangerous!! Our cat Penny has turned into a lap cat in her old age (she is 14), and I love it! Have a great weekend Heather!

Aw, Penny sounds adorable. It’s probably best that I stay away from the Pumpkin ones. 😉 Happy Weekend!
Alexa @ The Mindful Maritimer
I have never had puffins but I’d love to soon for sure! I could’t find them abroad but I’m pretty sure that my local superstore carries them.

Hi Alexa! I hope you find them. Thanks for reading! Happy Weekend!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
Ahh I have Scandal on my DVR right now, so I can’t wait to get home later and watch it. Also, snow?? No way. I would die if it started snowing that early here. It’s in the 50s these days, which is just fine with me.
I’m adding those salad kits to my shopping list this weekend. I love making big salads, but all the chopping! Yes, I’m that lazy. These look perfect for me.
Have a great weekend!

I love Scandal, but I have to say that I have been a little disappointed with this season so far… I hope it gets back to the normal edge-of-your-seat-what-the-heck-just-happened type of writing! Enjoy your time with the DVR and thanks for linking up!
Taylor
We are supposed to get some snow tonight as well and I plan on hiding under a blanket with a book and tea and pretend it isn’t happening. 😉
I tried a new wine (nothing better than a small glass with supper) Bogle Pinot Nior and it is so tasty. I may have had a glass of it every night this week….
Heather
Hey, that strategy sounds like a great one to me! I might just do the same. Yum, I’m a big wine-o, I’ll have to give it a try!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday
Ugh, we’re preparing for snow this weekend, too. I’m not ready! The weather has been so nice! 😛 Anyway, I LOVE those earrings. And those salad kits make for such easy, tasty, healthy meals. I’m a fan. Have a great weekend, Heather!

Right? What happened to the sun and mid-50s weather earlier this week? I would have taken that all the way into January. Thanks for linking up, Ellen!
Julia @ South by Northwest
Those stud earrings are too cute! Thanks, as always, for hosting a great link-up.
Heather
Thanks Julia, thanks so much for reading! Have a great weekend!
Katerina
Really amazing post! Cali is such a beautiful cat! I have an obsession with kittens, tigers, lions…really anything in the feline categorie…maybe that’s why my parents call me “Kat”….anyways I have yet to try the Puff’s cereal and really need to give it a go! I heard the pumpkin is to die for…literally – I should have picked some up at TJ’s when I was there, darn it! Winter is in full bloom in lovely (not really) Minnesota, and I am not liking one bit of it! Even my warmest clothes still don’t feel warm enough!
Have an amazing, splendid, spectacular weekend!

I have one super cuddly cat and then my other cat (my favorite) is more of a cat who will come sit on my chest when I’m laying in bed for her pets, and then she’s kind of off doing her own thing. But yesterday she sat near me all day and meowed at me and jumped into my lap while I was doing work on the computer and was being SO sweet! I thought maybe I forgot to feed her, but she had food in her bowl and I got so happy that she just wanted some extra momma love! Ah, cats are the best!

I just bought those Puffins for my husband and son. They LOVE Them! I think my husband ends up eating most of the box. He’s a grown child and eats cereal all the time 😉 Catch Phrase is one of our favorite family games! So much fun!
