Hi friends! Good morning!
Gosh, it’s been a while. Right? On one hand, I feel like I was just typing up last week’s Friday Favorites, and on the other, I feel like it’s been ages since we’ve gotten to chat on the ole blog. How the heck are you guys? I sure do miss you!
This are pretty dang busy over here. I’m guessing that you have probably figured that out, considering my that my post frequency has dramatic decreased over the last few months. Truth is, after working 12-hour and sometimes longer days six or seven days a week (for now), I want to shower, eat, and get to bed as soon as possible when I get home at night. As much as I would love to keep up a regular posting schedule, it’s just not in the cards right now.
Regardless of where the weeks take me, I still plan on sharing the latest batch of favorites every week. I always invite you to join in on the party by sharing what you’ve been loving in the comments and link-up sections, too.
Thank you to to each and every one of you wh0 checks in week after week! I really do appreciate you.
Now onto this week’s faves! Happy Friday!
Friday Favorites #165: Week of 10/28
• Girls’ Weekend in New York City (Part II)
Some of you might remember me sharing a Girls’ Weekend in New York City (Part I) at the beginning of the month.
My intentions were to continue on with a recap of our wonderful weekend, but then … I didn’t get around to it. I know y’all understand. Instead of brushing right past the highlights that took place when my childhood best friends Brittany and Melissa were in town, here they are!
Brunch at Stone Park Cafe (Park Slope)
Central Park
Lunch/Dinner at The Meatball Shop (Upper East Side)
Teacup Drinks at The Back Room Speakeasy (Lower East Side)
And a night of bouncing around different spots!
I could have expanded and written several comments about each point, but the pictures speak plenty. My time in the City with my friends was short but very sweet. I hope to see them both again very soon!
• ON Running event at Orangetheory Williamsburg
A few weeks ago, I got wind of an event with ON Running and Orangetheory Fitness through the blog world. Naturally, I knew that I should be there to support both my blogging and studio manager hats! OTF Williamsburg hosted a private class just for this group and led a high intensity interval training class, and runners tested out the new ON Cloud shoes with enhanced cushioning and support for both forward and lateral movements.
I haven’t tried the shoes out (yet), but they seem like the perfect shoe for a mix of running and strength training exercises that you will find in every Orangetheory Fitness class.
Thanks for coming out, ON Running and Brooklyn Running Company!
• black suede crossbody purse
A plain black crossbody day-to-night bag has been on my list to purchase for quite some time. I am happy to share that I finally found one that didn’t cost an arm and a leg on my recent trip into .
()
It’s a classic suede purse that has a magnetic pouch as well as a zipper for safe keeping. The shoulder strap is just the right length to wear crossbody-style, and I’m already loving it any time that I’m not in leggings … which is rare, but appreciated.
• recaps from last weekend
And on the same note with sharing a quick recap of recent whereabouts, here are a few highlights from last weekend when my best friend, Alex, was in town visiting!
Blowouts at Hairstories (Park Slope) <- love this place!
Dinner at The Stanton Social (Lower East Side)
Strolling through Prospect Park & Smorgasburg (Park Slope)
(with rolled ice cream from Roll ‘N Chill –> what?)
Rooftop views, cider and snuggies at 230 Fifth (Midtown)
It was so nice to see her. Per usual, our time was never long enough together, and we are already trying to figure out the next time when we can all hang out together again. Thanks for coming to see our new home in NYC, Alex!
• TOMS wedges
Along with the crossbody, a pair of black booties have been on my wardrobe “must have” list since last winter. I’ve been looking for a dressy pair of ankle booties that I can wear on a night out on the town, but I recently stumbled upon this great pair of that I can dress up or down when Alex was looking for a similar pair.
(, , )
We both ended up trying these bad boys on and each left with our own pair. They’re that comfortable, and easily pass as a dressy or casual option! (Find them for 20% off!) Plus, I just love TOMS. Who doesn’t?

So much awesome to share! I know you are working hard–starting a business, irregardless of your position, is a LOT of work. Just make sure you get some rest for you!
The Day Ight Donuts literally just made me laugh out loud. That is hysterical.
Fun story: a) I remember when Meatball shop opened and b) I worked at a restaurant that tried and failed miserably to take that concept to a new place. I will never look at meatballs the same way again. 😀
Have a great weekend, Heather!

Thanks Susie! It’s A LOT, but very worth the time and energy invested. And I’m so glad you loved the Ight Donuts 😉 Too funny about the “Meatball Shop”! Have a great weekend!
Patricia @ Sweet and Strong
Rolled ice cream and a whole restaurant dedicated to meatballs, WHAT! And can I just say that you are looking beautiful (as always) in all your picks. I wish I could curl my hair that perfectly! AndI love Tom’s too, I bought a pair of booties last year and they are the most comfortable heel I’ve ever worn. Have a great weekend Heather.

Hi Patricia! Aw, thank you so much. I can’t take credit — most of those pics were taken the day or day after a blowout. I only get them when people are in town! It’s a nice way to treat yourself and kick of the weekend feeling great. LOVING the TOMS booties! Happy Weekend 🙂

Hi Heather! We miss you! But I know first hand how hard it is to work more than full time and keep up with the blog! You’re doing great. As far as your hair — it looks SO fab lately. Like more fab than normal fab haha. And those shoes? Yes, when you live in the City it’s a constant challenge to find CUTE walkable heel-type shoes, and those are great. So glad you had fun with your visitors!! Happy Friday!

Love seeing all of your amazing NYC fun pictures! I was there last weekend, but we did a bunch of touristy stuff. One time I’d love to go with someone who knows the area or lives there to do the non-touristy stuff! And that crossbody bag… love!
