Good morning! I hope you all have had a wonderful week so far, and that everyone who celebrated the holiday had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.
I’m heading out to work today — I guess I’ll have to hit up Cyber Monday for the deals! — but here’s hoping the majority of you have the day off to enjoy more time with loved ones. As soon as I get out of work, I’m rushing home to meet my friend Meggan who will be in town visiting us this weekend! It was a bit of a last minute trip, so we don’t have too many plans set yet, but I’m sure we will get a good mix of what New York City has to offer this time of year.
I didn’t get to check in with you all this week, but I’m excited to say hello and share this week’s edition of Friday Favorites. In case you’re new around here, I always encourage you to join in on the fun by participating in the link-up and comment sections below.
Happy Friday!
Friday Favorites #168: Week of 11/25
• this homemade chicken noodle soup
While shopping for the ingredients for our contribution towards Thanksgiving dinner, Scott got the itch to make homemade noodle soup. Who am I to argue, right? He was off from work on Tuesday, so we took advantage of having the night home together and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen together.
Scott took the reigns and decided on this Quick Chick and Noodle Soup recipe by Rachael Ray. I had never made chicken noodle soup with parsnip and dill before, so I was intrigued. Oh my goodness y’all, it was delicious and then some. We had enough left over for two more servings each! There is only one more bowl left in the refrigerator, and I am going to savor it as soon as I get home today. Yum!
• coconut sparkling water
Speaking of things that taste amazing, have you ever tried the La Croix coconut sparkling water? Those of you who have been following the blog for a bit already know that I am a huge fan of sparkling water. I order it from Amazon on the regular (shout out to Amazon Prime Pantry!), and frequently find twelve packs on sale at Target. The last trip in, I found three dozen for $10! It was the first time I brought the coconut flavor home with me, and I can’t get enough of it.
I’m not exaggerating by saying that it resembles the summertime favorite piña colada slurpee flavor from 7-Eleven. The flavor isn’t as strong, but that is the first thing that I thought of when I took the first couple of sips. Needless to say, these cans aren’t lasting very long around here.
• plaid cozies from Target
Speaking of Target, I saw a recent BOGO 50% off sale on their pajamas. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to stock up on some long sleeved essentials and nighttime cozies.

There are a ton of great Black Friday deals going on at Target today, and one of them includes 30% off clothing! Go take advantage of the sales for me!
• Invictus Games memory book
Okay, so I dropped the ball hard with this one. Some of you might remember a pretty epic event that Scott and I worked earlier this year in Orlando called the Invictus Games. I’ve had a post drafted to cover the experience for several months now, and I just haven’t found the time to finish it. (Is that something you’d be interested in reading?) Just a few weeks ago, we received the sweetest surprise from our friend, Megan, who worked the event with us.
She put a very special memory book together, and it’s something that we proudly display on our coffee table. It’s filled with stats and pictures from the games as well as several photos of us and the Entertainment Teams.
She obviously spent a lot of time on it, and we are so appreciative. For those of you wondering, she used Mixbook to create it. (FYI, they’re having a Black Friday sale where all books are 45% off.) Thanks, Megan!
• Thanksgiving with friends
Or should I go with the ever popular “Friendsgiving” title? Either way, Scott and are so thankful for our neighbors and friends that we have known for over ten years now, Shawn and Hillary. When they invited us over for Thanksgiving, I knew we would be in for a treat because Hillary is a wonderful cook.
We contributed an appetizer (<- love that recipe!), homemade apple pie, and homemade pumpkin pie. I’m pretty sure I left ten pounds heavier, but it was totally worth it. I just might have to wander downstairs for leftovers, too. That’s the best part, right?

The coconut LaCroix is my #1 favorite. I go through a case of it just about every week! I seriously have a problem. I’m sure you will have a great time with your friend–all of the Christmas markets will be open, so you can always go through those! I’d stay away from Times Square, though… (but then, I would do that regardless, lol). Happy Thanksgiving, Heather, and have a great weekend!

I love the coconut la croix too! I’m also obsessed with the target brand, which has a cucumber mint flavor that makes you feel like you’re at the spa. I’m off today, so there will be lots of shopping around here!

I’m still trying to decide whether I want to just do Cyber Monday too, because Black Friday can just be so crazy! HAPPY Day after Thanksgiving. I hope today’s day at work is wonderful.
