Good morning! I hope you have all had a great week so far and are winding down to enjoy an even better weekend ahead.
First off, I want to say thank you for all of the support I received from you guys last week. I’ll be back to share more about what Scott and I have been going through in the future, but for today, I wanted to get back to highlighting things that made me smile. It’s important to take a step back from all of the crazy and do that from time to time, right?
Every week, it truly makes me smile to log on and share my Friday Favorites with you. Thank you to each and every reader who clicks over, and a huge shout out to all of the bloggers who link up at the bottom week after week! Y’all are the best, and I can’t wait to finally take some time this weekend and catch up with you and your favorites.
Happy Friday!
Friday Favorites #170: Week of 12/9
• Minted holiday decorations & gifts
Whether you’re looking for customizable holiday cards, personalized stationary, the perfect invite for an upcoming party, or a new picture to hang in your home, has you covered. I recognized the brand and connected them to holiday cards, but I only recently discovered that they feature an entire line of gifts, too. The 2016 holiday decor and gifts line is simply adorable!
I am teaming up with Minted this holiday season, and I am excited to share how our holiday cards turned out with you very soon. Looking past those, there are several gifts and pieces that catch my eye just as much. The art, for example, is something that I would love to feature in our new apartment!
// //
The holiday napkins and placemats make me want to host a party, just to invest in these white and green winter accents.
We were in need of a new tree skirt this year, and while I didn’t end up purchasing one through Minted, there were several on my wish list for down the road. I love that they are simple and reversible!
Something I couldn’t pass up, however, was the customizable wrapping paper.
I ordered the Holiday Bouquet Personalized Wrapping paper that comes with the cutest gift tags in a design that says “Merry Christmas from the Hesingtons.” My shipment is on its way, and I’m excited to use the paper and get the cards out to loved ones this year. Stay tuned for more on coming up!
• our first real Christmas tree
When Scott and I moved from Michigan, we left some of the stuff that we knew we wouldn’t need here in New York City behind in a storage unit. Most of the space is filled with Scott’s beloved sports memorabilia, our giant dining room table, and Christmas decorations. Thinking we would be back to grab the tree, ornaments, and decorations before now, I teared up a little when December arrived and we still hadn’t done so. Time sure does fly!
Since decorating a tree is one of my very favorite things to do every year, Scott mentioned that we could just get a real tree this year and buy minimal lights and ornaments to partake in the tradition. We found a small lot selling them right next to our apartment, and he personally carried this beautiful tree down the street and up four flights of stairs to our den!
(oh, Hi Roadie!)
We picked out white circle lights as well as a bin of silver and blue ornaments to tie us over. When I finished decorating the next night, I just so happened to dig in a box we had in our den area and found all of the dancer ornaments that I have been collecting for years and years. It was a lucky and totally unexpected find! I quickly added them to the tree and feel a little slice of home up here with us this year. It’s nice.
• winter scented candles
This one should come as no surprise to anyone who reads LIL regularly.
You better believe I took advantage of Black Friday sales and invested in a decent amount of winter scents from Bath & Body Works!
I’m still burning through the last of our Autumn scents, but they will soon be transitioned out, and I am looking forward to smelling even more evergreen and balsam in the apartment. Are you someone who enjoys the Christmas tree smell? I can’t get enough of it!
• lululemon tight stuff tight
Work has been extra busy and demanding over the past month or so as we gear up to launch the studio next month! I’ve had to put frequent blogging on the back burner (for now), but I’m also soaking in this new adventure and the opportunity to be a part of something pretty special. This week, our ownership team surprised me with these a token of appreciation for all of the hard work I do. I was completely caught off guard!
I need to exchange them for a slightly bigger size, but I’m hoping that I can find the same design to bring home. They’re so pretty and functional! Believe it or not, this is actually my very first part of lululemon tights. Crazy, right?
• Ghirardelli peppermint bark squares
And last, but certainly not least, have y’all ever seen Ghirardelli peppermint bark squares?
If you do, buy them immediately and thank me later. That is all. #theseareafewofmyfavoritethings

If you’re going to wear them for workouts, the Tight Stuff are great but I wouldn’t recommend them for working all day due to the INTENSE compression! If you need recos for other Lulu tights let me know or better yet let’s meet at the Lulu on Smith 🙂

Oh I love those leggings! I am in need of a few new pairs for workouts. And I had no idea minted offered so much more than just card designs! I will def be checking them out. And still haven’t picked a holiday card pic for us yet. I might set the self timer and try to do a few of us around the Christmas tree this weekend 😉

Glad you were able to put up a tree and find some old decorations to have a part of your last home with you! Since we downsized we put up a new, tiny tree this year and it made me sad at first until I started to put up a few old ornaments. It’s the little details that really help after change or during a tough time. Hope your weekend is relaxing and healing. Sending <3!

Your tree is stunning! I’m also candle obsessed, especially holiday scents. I was so tempted to buy Kimoji wrapping paper but I refrained, lol. Love the leggings. Thanks so much for hosting. XO

Loved your xmas tree story. I lived in manhattan for a few years (in a dorm for college) and always wanted to be one of those ppl who carry their trees down the street from the corner tree stand. Enjoy christmas in nyc while you can. I hope whatever is going on you can take some time to treat yourself to something relaxing and fun this weekend.

I love Minted! I got all my wedding paperie from them and after that I use them when I need beautiful cards. A little pricey but they are always beautiful. And I am loving the customizable giftwrapping! Especially the Nordic Knits. So cute! this year I went the opposite way with a fake tree, but it has that Nordic feeling to it, and we kept it very organic. Funny, I have similar glass ballerina ornaments. So glad to have found your blog! Have enjoyed reading previous blog posts too. 🙂 Happy weekend!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
I went a bit nuts at B&BW on Black Friday too, their candles are the best! Also, love the cameo of Roadie in his little sweater. Glad you guys were able to get a tree to bring in some holiday cheer!

Happy Friday!!! Loved your round-up…your tree is gorgeous! I’m super sad I missed the B&BW candle sale – my sister-in-law stocked up though. Those leggings look so cute – love the detail – I bought my first pair back in the summer…I love them…wish I hadn’t waited so long to buy my first pair! And I seriously laughed out loud at the Rock around the Christmas tree meme so thank you for that haha! Hope you enjoy your weekend – thanks for hosting!
