It’s… Friday! Who’s ready for the weekend to get here already? Thought so!
To get the party started, I’m continuing on with a new series on the blog called Friday Favorites. Here, I take a look back at the week and share new finds or just some things I have been loving lately! From beauty products and food to funny videos and pet funnies, you just never know what’s going to pop up! Let’s go ahead and get rollin’…
Friday Favorites #3: Week of 9/20
• Blue Diamond Salt ‘n Vinegar Almonds
I have been quite fond of these guys since I discovered their existence over a year ago.
While attending FitBloggin’ over the summer, I got to meet some of the folks over at Blue Diamond and they were nice enough to send me a care package of my favorite flavor. I have been enjoying them all week, and apparently I’m not the only almond lover in the house. I woke up to an empty chewed up can yesterday and quickly found out that Roadie likes them too. I think I was equally upset for his stomach, and the fact that an entire can of my precious almonds were gone!
I am happy to report, however, that he is fine! My heart, on the other hand, is still recovering.
• Gluten-free Waffles
There’s something to be said about these Van’s Gluten-free Waffles.
While some aren’t fans, I have learned to love them and even have a hard time eating regular waffles nowadays. Choosing gluten-free products is something I occasionally do from time to time. There isn’t really a reasoning behind it, besides trying to challenge myself and eat foods that are better for me and easier on the stomach. If you look at the product like something completely new and not as a version of what “it’s supposed to be/taste like” then it is easier to take a liking to it.
You will never see Scott eating these, but they are A-okay in my book. My favorite way to dress them up is with any type of peanut butter (pictured is Justin’s Hazelnut Chocolate PB), sliced fruit and a drizzle of chia seeds!
• iOS 7 Software for the iPhone
I finally cleared enough junk out of my phone to download the new iOS 7 software everyone has been buzzing about.
Everything is different. The buttons, the flow of the touchscreen movement, the messaging colors and bubbles, the iCal, the way you search and close out of programs… I feel like I just brought home a completely new phone!
I can’t say I hate it, I just didn’t expect it. I’m not always the biggest fan of change, but I’m slowly getting over it.
What I have enjoyed the most is the addition of iTunes Radio. This makes my love for purchasing new music on iTunes effortless, which may or may not be a good thing.
Either way, I like the option of having a radio right there for me to access! For those of you who are still a little overwhelmed, here are 7 Tips and Tricks for Navigating through the changes, via USA Today.
• Peaches… or any fruit for that matter
Give me ALL the fruit. Please! I am savoring the berries, peaches, apples, grapes, and everything else I can before the winter rolls around.
After going on a brief hiatus from it, my grocery cart was filled with fresh fruit this go around. I think I might actually turn into a fruit cake pretty soon. 😉
• Reebok CrossFit Nano Speed Sneakers
As part of an ongoing campaign with Reebok, I received these beauties in the mail earlier this week.
As far as any dance rehearsal, cross training, HIIT, or cardio workout outside of running goes, I have been wearing them on my feet at all times. We won’t even get into my adoration of the colors, either. You should know by now that I’m all about anything neon. *Swoon*
Keep a lookout for a full review and cross training workout coming soon!
• Computer Kitty
It’s not uncommon to have a furry co-worker by my side at all times of the day. And when I say at all times, I’m not exaggerating that much. About 90% of the time, you will find this stinker my my side, on my lap, or on my desk while I’m on the computer.
I have come to the conclusion that she likes to follow the mouse around, which may be why she likes it so much. If that’s not it, then she just loves me at an unhealthy level. Regardless of the reason, I have been loving her company down in the basement lately!
And, speaking of kitties…
• Wrecking Ball Parodies
Parodies of Miley Cyrus’ new hit “Wrecking Ball” keep popping up everywhere. I’m sorry to draw more attention to them, but I just have to share this one.
GAH! So stinkin’ cute.
Here’s a handful of others, including a feature from right here in our backyard at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. And, for the record, the campus pendulum is no longer there, thanks to the number of people who tried to film “Wrecking Ball” parodies. This is both hilarious and ridiculous.
I am happy to report that the remainder of my day is clear. I’m going to enjoy taking that in for a moment because once the season starts (in about two weeks!) my life will go from having “free” days to “no free days” real quick.
Plans for this afternoon include an 8 mile run on the trails (Eek! First time attempting that distance in a while), attempting a new pumpkin recipe (healthy carrot and pumpkin bars!), and hopefully sneaking in a yoga class for extra stretching and recovery tonight. I took my first Hot Vinyasa Yoga class last night and it was great!
Oh, and don’t forget to enter the PEAR Sports Mobile Workout Giveaway if you haven’t already! Hope you all have a wonderful start to the weekend.

What are some of your favorite finds this week?
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
Those almonds sound amazing! I’ll have to check and see if they sell them at the grocery store near me. I hope so! OMG…the parody of the wrecking ball video is hysterical. Love it!
Heather
They are! You should be able to find them. I used to get that flavor at Publix down south. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled when I go shopping next and share if I see them!
Kimberly
Glad Roadie is okay! I give my dog peanut butter all the time and when I got on my almond butter kick I almost gave him some. Thanks goodness for google because it told me not to. Love those shoes!
Heather
I know… I was horrified at first. He seemed to be okay and after a while Scott and just stare in amazement. The dog has also eaten an entire family sized bag of M&M’s before too! He’s such a little sneak!
Tanya
How many pairs of Reebok’s do you own now? 😉
Heather
Haha, a lot! Loving each and every pair though… 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I had the pleasure of meeting the Blue Diamond folks when I was at HLS this weekend, and holy.snap are their new flavoured almonds amazing. Definitely keep an eye out if you haven’t tried their coffee ones!
Heather
Oh, those are incredible! Hope I can get my hands on some more soon!
Heather Murphy
I saw the parodies where the students at Grand Valley State University were recreating the video and it cracked me up! I am sad that they took the pendulum away! Have a great weekend!
Heather
I know… I would have totally loved to do one, I mean… it’s too bad, right?!
Lisa
I totally am with you on the iphone change. I thought it would be really awesome but I am just not a fan at the moment. I’m hoping it will grow on me – but so far not.
I’ve been going a little crazy on all the fruit too. I just need it before it goes out of season!
Good luck on the 8 miles!
Heather
Thanks!! And, for the record I am much happier with the software today. It keeps growing on me 😉
