Are any of you itching to mix up your workout routine at the gym? Looking for a way to keep on top of your workouts while traveling? Don’t feel like leaving your house to get in a good sweat and personal coaching session?
If you became the slightest bit intrigued by any the above questions then are going to love this giveaway!
I received the PEAR Sports Coaching and Training System in the mail about a month and a half ago. As part of a campaign through FitFluential, I was selected to review this new workout app made specifically for the iPhone 4S or 5. Knowing I had a summer of traveling ahead of me, it couldn’t have come at a better time!
It was relatively easy to get started once I received the equipment.
(iPhone App + Stride™ Earphones + Heart Rate Monitor)
Step 1: Download PEAR Sports App
Step 2: Sign Up
Step 3: Create Profile
Step 4: Activate GPS + Heart Rate Monitor
Step 5: Calibration Workout (Complete a short 20 minute workout to allow the system to get on your fitness level.)
Step 6: Download Workouts + Go!
During my trial, I completed several different types of workouts including a coached Long Distance (7 mile) Run, Cardio Core 6-Pack, Tread’N’Shred HIIT, Fast Finish Running (a 30 minute run with 10 minutes of sprints), and about a zillion Free Format workouts (no coaching, just tracking.)
I guess you could say this trio of equipment has become a part of my every day workout routine.
Before receiving it, I thought it would be similar to many of the other fitness apps out there and didn’t expect anything special. After trying it, I now realize the system is in an entire league of it’s own. Really.
Exactly what makes it different?
PEAR is a digital audio training system that coaches users in real-time by monitoring their heart rate, adapting to their fitness level and putting a coach directly in their ear. During the workout, there are pre-set tips shared along the way, but the feedback on how the user is doing all depends on the fitness level and effort received from the user.
(You actually feel like someone is there with you.)
• With the Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor, the app tracks heart rate continuously during the workout and transmits accurate readings to the device.
• There are literally hundreds of coached workouts to choose from with a large variety from strength training to spinning, and even post-exercise cool down workouts like yoga and stretching.
• The mobile app integrates with the user’s music library, iTunes, and third party music apps such as Pandora and Spotify, allowing you to listen to music in the background while PEAR coaches.
• The Stride™ earphones allow you to play, pause, skip, answer calls, and receive on-demand workout stats at the touch of a button.
• The PEAR system is made for everyone: from beginners to seasoned athletes, and is continuously adding new workouts and plans.
I was most impressed by the new Tread’N’Shred workout, which will be released to the iTunes store in the near future. It only required a treadmill, a set of medium dumbbell weights, and a mat. It started with interval hill sprints, moved to the floor for a series of strength and ab exercises, then repeated. Before beginning the workout, I watched a video demonstrating all of the exercises which was easy to find and reference back to, even in the middle of the workout.
Although I love HIIT, core, and running workouts, I also want to mention the stretching and yoga warm up and cool down workouts. The Post-Run Flex Mini forced me to not only breathe and stretch, but also incorporated a series of foam rolling exercises, which you all know I am a big fan of.
No matter what workout I do (to this day), I have been wearing my Heart Rate Monitor and tracking my calories burned and fitness levels during it. I still have yet to purchase a good fitness watch, so this has become a great substitute for me in the mean time.
I really liked the real-time coaching and tips in my ear, especially on my long distance runs. It can get lonely out there, and it’s motivating to have someone not only telling you your stats, but also sharing bits of information along the way. Every so often, I heard bits on what my posture should look and feel like, reminders to hydrate, and fun phrases and quotes to keep me moving. I loved it!

After having my first baby, I’ve lost the distance I worked up to before getting pregnant. I seriously feel like a different person when I run now (not in a good way–like I’m in someone else’s skin), getting exhausted after just a couple minutes.
I could really use a new training system to keep me going on the trail!!
Aw, I bet you would love the coaching aspect! Good Luck in the giveaway, but remember you can still get the program at a great discount using the code: FitFluential! 🙂
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy
I go through phases with workouts, but I’m into spinning and strength training right now, so I’d use it for that!
Running, Stretching & Yoga. I am horrible at distance running and I would love to get better at it. I also enjoy a good stretch and HIIT. The apps I’ve used before don’t keep me interested, but this looks like it may do the trick!
I like variety in my workouts, but don’t always have time to make it to a class. I’d use it for all of those things – running, HIIT, spinning, yoga and stretch.
I love HIIT workouts!
I would use it for running! I am just starting to get back into running and this sounds like it would be super helpful!
Jillienne @ ChasingRaspberries
Girl, your abs are looking killer! You could do laundry on those! 😉
Haha, thanks!!! I have to credit Fitness Pilates for those guys. 😉
I would definitely use it for cross training workouts and to switch up my runs a bit. When I switch things up my workouts feel so good!
My fave is HIIT! Once I found it, I have never gone back 🙂
I am in the market for a heart Rate monitor and would love to try this! I’d use it for my treadmill and cross training workouts!
Ashley @ Life and Fitness
I’m not a huge cardio lover anymore so I love doing HIIT workouts a couple times a week!
I have been wanting a heart rate monitor for ages! I would wear this for running, yoga, biking, and strength workouts. Plus, I would likely be curious and wear it all day sometimes to get an overall read of my calorie burn
I’d probably use it to train for my first 10k!
I would def. use it to switch up my runs some. Im always on the lookout for new ways to keep my mind off the distance/time. I think it would help me branch away from solely running and some cross training.
It’s a great way to branch out from your normal routine. Always something new to try!
If time is money you’ve made me a weleihtar woman.

Going to Hot Yoga tonight! Can’t wait!
Em @ Love A Latte
This is so cool! I would use it for marathon training and stretching for sure! 🙂
I can’t wait to use it for half marathon training. I need to get one on the books!
This looks awesome!! I am a professional dancer so any workout that can increase my endurance is what I’m looking for 🙂 I love to run but I get so bored, so maybe some cardio-circuit workouts to bring some excitement into my fitness plan. Thank you for making these giveaways possible!!
I think you would love those. Thanks for entering! 🙂
Running!! 🙂 🙂
Running is my favorite type of workout!
Also, I have to ask you. Do you color your own hair? If so, what color is it? I love it!
Strength training and HIIT
I love love love ANYTHING pertaining to dancing 🙂
I’d love to use this app for HIIT workouts!
I would love this for running!! I’m trying to work my up from a 5K to 10K and this would be great. 🙂
Running and strength training! I just quit my gym and would love something to guide me as I figure out my at home workout routine!
First of all, your abs look amazing! I would use this to help switch up my workouts. I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately, and feeling almost no motivation to even go to the gym anymore. New gear always helps me get my head back in the game, especially when I have a “coach” telling me to do so.
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance
My favorite type of workout is HIIT exercises and will love to use the Pear Sports gear to complete it.
My current favorite work out is pure barre 😉 But i do love a good HIIT session every now and then along with running and yoga. I’d love to see if Pear can motivate me to work out at home OR in the mornings!
Running! 🙂 Always need a bit of motivation along the way.
Rachel @ LouLouBelle
My favorite type of workout is a HIIT workout!
My favorite workout is a nice 3 mile run followed by arms + abs circuit!

Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I was use it for my HIIT cardio sessions!
I would use the half marathon training. It would help me get back into running and also be a great motivator. I would love to participate in one! My current favorite workout is Jillian Michael videos at home.
Running is my exercise of choice, but this would be great for all of my workouts!
I’d say add in a HIIT workout! Running is my workout of choice though
I love to lift weights and am slowing incorporating running back into my life after a knee surgery. This would be GREAT for race training, which I’m hoping to start within the next month.
This product sounds amazing!! I would love to use it for strength training, core cardio, and stretching!!!! Thank you for sharing about it!
Core, stretching, etc. 🙂
Strength training and HIIT!
Running is my favorite exercise! I started running cross country in 8th grade and haven’t looked back! I’m also starting to get into weights… With my baby 5 pound dumbells! Haha 🙂
I go through phases with workouts, but the one constant is weights! I love weight lifting whether it’s through a HIIT workout or an intense full hour weight training session. This workout system looks so awesome!!
Running and Yoga!!!!! 🙂
I can’t decide what I would use it for first! I have been wanting to train for a 1/2 marathon for awhile now, but I think I would be most excited to use it for yoga and stretching since that is definitely the weakest area of my fitness routine.
Wow, the PEAR system seems awesome! I’ve been wanting to get a heart rate monitor but haven’t bit the bullet yet. I am currently training for a half marathon so it would be interesting to track that, but I’ve also been looking for motivation to do at home workouts while my baby naps so having a “trainer” with the PEAR system would be perfect.
I can’t pick a favorite type of workout, I like cardio and strength equally. I would like to tray a spinning class on the PEAR, so I would have the ability to do that class any time of day, not just when my gym offers it.
Running and Yoga!!!
I would definitely use it for running. I’ve been wanting to do a half marathon, and this would be great for that!
I’d love to try their zero to running plan, but it looks like they have a ton of awesome workouts.
I love HIIT and weights.
My favorite workout is running! Sprints would be amazing to see.
I would love to use it for HIIT. With a two year old I am all about quick but effective workouts!
Love this post and the entire blog site! I’m a new user and have officially subscribed. Can’t wait to start getting the emails!
I was literally JUST in the gym talking about a product like this and saying how I desperately needed one. I am an avid spinner and the bikes that the gym provides aren’t calibrated sometimes and also can’t measure your height, weight, or heart rate. This PEAR Sport product would be SO helpful for me as I just started my journey to get fit and live a healthier lifestyle! Unfortunately I’m unable to afford one at the moment, but hopefully can get one soon!
I would love to use this while doing Barre workouts! I am currently addicted to The Bar Method, but I don’t have anything I can use to track the workout!
I really need some more direction on strength training, I would love to have this to go with my phone!
I would use the PEAR for spinning! I love spinning workouts but can only make it to class at my gym once a week. I feel like, with this, I’ll have my own personal spin workout whenever I want! 🙂
I could use some help with running but I’d love to track my heart rate during my Muay Thai workouts too!
I would use this for all of my workouts! But I think it would be neat for a HIIT workout since those are the toughest ones!
I would most definitely use it for running! What a great option for those of us who are motivated by someone being “in our ear” on runs! 🙂
Right now I’m doing Kosama, which I love, but this would be great on days I can’t make it to a class.
This would be a dream for training for LBI 18 miler! It would for sure keep me going. I have been wanting to run this race for a couple of years now and 2014 is my year!
I love a good cardio kick boxing class!
I recently moved from Houston to Colorado Springs- the altitude is killer! I think this system would be a huge help as I try to build up my endurance again. I’d use it for running, biking, yoga, Pilates, and group classes!
As someone who does not have a gym membership and does all their workouts at home i would love this for running and hiit workouts!
Wow – this is amazing! I’d most use this for HIIT, which is something I struggle to motivate myself to do on my own. Having a little motivator in my ear would be fantastic!
My favorite type of workout is HIIT or TurboFire/Turbokick. I am also a runner. This looks awesome!!
Sounds like a great product. I would use it for half marathon training
I think I would use this mostly during spin classes!
I would use it for a variety of classes I take at my gym and running! I have been wanting a heart rate monitor and this looks great with the added features.
my favorite workout routine is a mix of cardio and weights. i feel like my body doesn’t love 100% of either, so a mix is perfect. also throwing in a day if bikram yoga or regular yoga every two weeks is amazing.
Heck of a job there, it ablesutoly helps me out.

You assumes that Obama has the best interests of the US as his motivation. I do not think that is the case. I love love love running! It is both my therapy and has whipped me into shape 🙂 Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
I would love to just experiment with all workouts on the PEAR monitor. I would look forward to spinning, and HIIT the most!
I can definitely see this helping me with running. I need some motivation when I’m by myself and any and all coaching tips while I’m on a run would be greatly beneficial!
I love kickboxing! it’s my favorite! i’d love to see crossfit routines!
I would use this for a HIIT workout, that’s when I need the most motivation!
Erin G. @ Treats and Sneaks
I love workouts that move throughout the gym and use a variety of different equipment. In other words, I don’t want to be stuck on one machine for an entire hour :).
I just started a running program. This system would be great motivation.
I’d love to use this for spinning! I always wear my heart rate monitor in spin class, but having a “coach” would really motivate me to spin on my own. That way I would know I’m getting a good workout in. The HIIT workouts sound great too!
