Good Morning! It’s Friday, and for most of us an extended holiday weekend, too.
You know what else I just remembered? This weekend also marks the official start to the summer. That seems kind of funny, considering I was still freezing just a couple of weeks ago, but hey, I’ll take it!
Three cheers for Friday, Memorial Day, and summer, ya’ll!
To get things moving on the happy train into it all, here is this week’s edition of Friday Favorites, filled with things I have been loving this week.
I hope you enjoy them, and as always, please feel free to play along and share some of your favorites in the comment section and/or link up!
Friday Favorites #34: Week of 5/23
• flavored coconut water
I have always enjoyed coconut water, but over the past couple of weeks I have been loving the addition of flavors.
Scott actually picked up this Vitacoco coconut water in peach & mango and pineapple. Um… YES. I always feel extra hydrated and possibly even a little closer to the beach when I drink one!
• group fitness classes
After coming off of vacation and being in a bit of a fitness slump, my only motivation to go to the gym was to take group fitness classes. Although this week only consisted of one type of class, (Fitness Pilates, obviously) I usually enjoy taking a variety to mix it up.
I like the fact that I can try out any kind of class offered at my gym, depending what kind of workout I feel like doing that day. I get a lot of ideas for my own personal workouts from new exercises I pick up classes, and I also like the idea of incorporating equipment I may not use all the time.
While leaving the gym last night, I made a mental note to try a new class or two next week to keep things interesting!
• that’s not a statue mascot prank
Earlier this week, I shared some behind the scenes stories of a fun video shoot and promised the to share the video when it went live.
Well, it’s live!
You might just recognize this air version of my favorite prankster and his “accomplice”… (me.) Apparently the video became quite popular, and quickly after debuting yesterday, because it ended up on Sports Illustrated Hot Clicks!
You better watch out, Detroit. HOOPER’s got a few more months of the off-season to entertain himself!
• barre/yoga socks
I have been all about these socks lately. Not only are they great for yoga, barre, and Pilates, but I find myself putting on the thicker ones for the occasional run.
I love the grips for balance in class, but also grab them to wear all day while walking and doing things around the house.
They come in all different styles with different features, and I’ve learned I like the fancy (breathable) mesh ones for class and thick, regular material for everything else. Now if only they were a little cheaper…
• Black Box
I guess I have to thank Grey’s Anatomy for this one. Black Box is a brand new drama that comes on directly after Grey’s Thursday nights on ABC, which is exactly how stumbled upon it.
The drama series stars Kelly Reilly, who plays a famous neurologist (Catherine Black) that has a secret biploar disorder. Ironic that a brain doctor is suffering from a brain disorder, right?
The only person who knows about her condition is her psychiatrist and her close family members, including her daughter that thinks she is actually her aunt. She has a dark family history and struggles with keeping her disorder under control during each episode.
I love the idea of the show and always get hooked on the crazy stories of the patients that come through her office doors!
• (my love/hate relationship with) the StairMaster
Oh man. How I hate to love this machine.
Since we have consistently been experiencing more enjoyable (warm and sunny!) weather outside lately, I have been saving my running for the outside and jumping on other cardio machines besides the treadmill when I’m inside.
Whenever I only have a window of 15-20 minutes, one sure fire way to get me sweaty and dead is the good ‘ol StairMaster.
This machine might make time pass by slower than my college math classes, but it does an incredible job of spiking my heart rate and making me work hard. I can respect that.
I had about twenty minutes to kill before Fitness Pilates last night and figured the big rotating stairs of death would be my best option. I played with the settings throughout my time on the machine and kept myself entertained by skipping steps and turning from side to side. I’m pretty sure I looked crazy, but left sweatier than ever.
You never fail to kill me, StairMaster!
• this hilarious (yet truthful) ecard
Makes my argument about already having one (big man) child valid, no?
The best part about this image is that I found it early yesterday morning and saved it to my phone. Just a few hours later, my friend Ashley sent me the same exact image because shes knows I always say it.
😉
Tee hee.
Your Turn

Have a great holiday weekend!

That video is hysterical!! LOVE it! And that e-card is perfection!:)) Happy Friday!
Hehehe. Thanks! Happy Weekend 🙂
Now I want to check out Black Box! Thanks for the recommendation!
Let me know if you like the show!
Obviously, I share your love for group fitness. I love that group fitness gets more people moving in the gym, who may not be motivated on their own. Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
Exactly! I get so motivated knowing someone is going to be there to kick my booty for me! 😉
Those socks are super cute! I have been wanting to try barre and they seem perfect!!
I’m glad to hear Black Box is good. The previews look good, but I haven’t watched it yet.
Have a great Memorial Day!
I am kind of obsessed with barre, so naturally I started wearing the socks before, during, and after classes. Now, I wear the socks even when a class isn’t in sight. They’re wonderful 🙂
No joke about the stairmaster! It gets me huffin’ and puffin’ and sweaty in no time!
Hahaha that ecard – so true! I always joke with my husband that he is my other child. I love it though. He always makes me laugh and helps make life fun.
I love that ecard! I asked my MIL yesterday what her secret for controlling my hubby was. She told me that her secret was to just wait it out until he grew up and got married, then pass him off to his wife (me). Gee, thanks. :p
Happy 3-day weekend!!
I completely agree about the stairmaster! Totally love/hate going on there. Such a cute video! 🙂 Enjoy the holiday weekend.
Hilarious (and so true) Ecard! We’re currently waiting for our first little one to arrive, but I’m certain my husband retain his position as the biggest kid. Enjoy the start of summer!
My hubby is such a big kid! I loved Grey’sAnatomy this season … the background music, remakes of older songs just grabbed at me as much or more than the story itself! But I never watched it live, but grabbed it online the day after. So I haven’t even heard of Black Box, but I’m always up for new suggestions and recommendations!
I noticed that about the background music too! Love it 🙂
