Hi friends, Happy Friday!
This weekend is going to be a busy one, so I’m spending the day getting things knocked off of my to-do list before the craziness begins.
I’m looking forward to hanging with a couple of friends tonight and have plans to spend any free time leftover studying for that CPT test I have been meaning to get around to.

Friday Favorites #40: Week of 6/6
• Brady Bands
A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from a sweet woman from Brady Bands. Just like a lot of other headband companies out there, Brady Bands has an inventory of thin, thick, and even dressy headbands.
Unlike other headband companies, they are very affordable (most as low as $6!) and donate ten percent of every sale to help support childhood cancer research.
The headbands are named after the owner’s son, Brayden, who passed away in 2012 after a year long battle with brain cancer.
The brand launched in 2013 when she found a need to create a non-slip headband that keeps your hair in place during workouts that is actually affordable. After searching the internet for some, she couldn’t find any she was happy with, so she decided to create her own line of them all while raising awareness about the need to fund childhood cancer research.
I absolutely love them, and her story. I wore the Color Me Chevron to the gym yesterday, and liked how it stayed in place the entire time without giving me a headache from wearing it all day beforehand.
I also received the Silver Passion Headband and can’t wait to accessorize with the To Infinity Headband with my non-fitness outfits. I am digging the dressy and winter headbands just as much as the ones made for workouts!
• short hair, don’t care
Last Friday, I shared my excitement to change up the do and go for a healthy cut and more natural shade for the summer.
I expected to say goodbye to the red, but what I didn’t expect was to come out of the salon with this short and dark of a hairstyle!
Yup. I chopped it. The two photos on the left are from the day I got it done and the one on the right was when I attempted to style it the same way on my own. Why is it so hard to get even close to styling it the way professionals do?
It definitely took some getting used to. In fact, I didn’t really like it for a couple of days, which is why you didn’t see me post a picture of it sooner.
Over the week, however, I have grown to love it! Unlike my fried, extension filled and often faded get up during the season, this hair feels healthy and is so easier to blow dry and handle!
Slowly but surely, I’m falling for it.
• dancing on stage with Big & Rich!
I have been teasing you all since Monday about recapping something pretty cool that happened over the weekend. Close to the end of the NBA season, the Pistons invited Big & Rich to perform at halftime and most of our entertainment teams got to dance with them!
They were awesome, and it was one of the funnest halftimes to date!
Before they left, they mentioned bringing a small group of us back to perform with them in concert and I was absolutely thrilled to get one of the spots.
Instead of dedicating an entire post to it, I figured I could easily sum up our day with a quick series of photos and descriptions.

Hi, my name is Heather, and I have a cell phone case problem. Meaning I always get new ones. All the time. #itsfine
I found this soft and subtly sparkly Glitter Block iPhone case at Pac Sun last weekend for under $10.
They have so many good ones!
• baths
I have been really, really into baths this week.
Bubbles, candles, music, and calming scents can get me from wired to woosah in just a few minutes time.
I also happened to catch this episode of Friends where Chandler gets into baths last night… (“It’s okay… because I’ve got my boat.”)
So great.
• AB&Js
I haven’t had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in ages, but apparently it was time for me to catch up this week.
Except, instead of peanut butter, I used almond butter. So – technically – I had almond butter and jelly sandwiches.
Either way, I almost forgot how good they are. Do yourself a favor and channel your childhood one day for lunch soon, will ya?

• toilet paper wedding dress
My friend Susan absolutely blows my mind. She made this beautiful wedding dress all on her own, all out of toilet paper! Seriously.
She entered it into the 2014 Cheap Chic Wedding Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest sponsored by Charmin and needs your vote.

I love those hairbands and have several from other brands. They are so expensive so I will have to look into her brand. And your hair is gorgeous!

I thought the same thing! My other brands were about $15-$20 a band! Crazy. Loving all three I was sent that retail at $6-$12! Thank you for your votes!
I love your hair! It always takes me a while to get used to new haircuts too. I usually leave the salon feeling uneasy, but within a few days I end up happy with the new style. Thanks for sharing those headbands. What a great company!

Those headbands are adorable! And I LOVE your hair! I have an appt monday to do the same thing–my processed, stringy hair is due for a clean chop.

I second what everyone else has said (so I guess it isn’t really a second…) but you hair looks fantastic–so, so flattering for your face. I also just cut a ton of hair off, and it is so freeing, isn’t it?
