Holy moly you guys, it’s August? Where has the summer gone?! Judging from the weather outside… anywhere but here, apparently. I hope you have had better luck in the weather department where you are!
Regardless, today is a happy one because it’s Friday and almost the start to the weekend. Except, our weekend is absolutely filled with work events. Whoops.
Here’s hoping you have an enjoyable one and to kick things off, it’s time to get right into our weekly Friday Favorites party! As usual, I invite you all to join in by sharing some of your favorites from the week in the comments section and link up too!
Friday Favorites #48: Week of 8/1
• coconut beach candle
On our final walk down Seawall Blvd. in Galveston last week, we stopped into Murdoch’s Bathhouse and saw this beachy candle in a coconut shell. I wanted something to remember the trip by and loved the smell.
What do you know… it’s one of my favorite scents I have lit in a while!
• seashell wind chime
I have never had my own wind chime. My dad used to make some interesting ones back when I lived with my parents, and I always loved hearing the chimes when I sat outside.
We saw this one on the way out of the Galveston shop and both Scott and I thought it would be great to have at home.
My approach to hanging it is temporary, but I’m looking forward to hearing in move the wind from our backyard deck.
So calming!
• fabric Brady Bands
I was introduced to Brady Bands a couple of months ago and have been wearing them during my workouts ever since.
I love the non-slip versions, but fell for the prints of the fabric headbands I saw pop up on my Facebook feed a few weeks ago. Aren’t they adorable?
(Blue Aztec Headband + Folkloric Headband)
I received two fun prints from the company earlier this week and can’t get enough of them.
They don’t stay in place as good as the non-slip ones, so I’ve been skipping them on my runs but wearing them at home and around town.
Unlike other headband companies, Brady Bands are very affordable (most as low as $6!) and donate ten percent of every sale to help support childhood cancer research. I’m happy to be supporting them and recommend their headbands to anyone looking!
• Fitness Pilates (goodbye for now)
Earlier this week, I mentioned that my gym membership is ending. I thought my last day was Wednesday, but as it turns out I had two more to squeeze in. I lit up when I heard the news and joined a few friends last night for my (official) last Fitness Pilates class. For now.
That beautiful and seriously toned woman standing to my right is Val, and I will miss taking her classes on a regular basis more than she will ever know! Half of my motivation to even get to classes at the gym has to do with the instructor, and she is one of the best I have ever taken from.
Thanks for almost two years of awesome booty kicking, Val!
• flowy summer tops
I picked these two tops up from Marshalls while I was in Houston last week. One was a steal at $9.99 and the other was only $12.99.
Paired with a cute pair of shorts and flip flops or jeans and wedges, I am all about this flowy style of blouses this summer!
• my new mantra
I don’t even know where I saw this picture, but I just had to save it and share it with you.
Scott and I were just talking about this.
Besides our recent trip to Texas (which actually started out as a work trip), we haven’t taken a “vacation” where we spend days sightseeing and getting into the culture in years. We get days off here and there, but want try to take longer, more explorative vacations as much as we can swing them.
Experiencing life you work so hard for is so good for the soul!
• guacamole
My obsession this week first started at Chipotle, and continued onto last night when I realized Chili’s now offers table side guacamole.
If a restaurant offers anything table side, Scott and I will usually give it a try at least once. This one may not look incredible in the photo, but it certainly was. I practically ate half of it myself… so good!
• VS tote gift with purchase
I went into Victoria’s Secret to purchase a gift and realized that if I spent a total of $75, I could also take this getaway tote bag home with me.
I have a smaller one (through the same gift with purchase) but was excited to have a bigger version of it for trips where I need more packing room.
Plus, how it came is exactly how I can store it. The deal is still going on until Monday and offers one per customer as long as supplies last. You can also get it online by using the code GETAWAY75 upon checkout!
• this tee that was clearly made for me
I’m not sure exactly where this tee is from, but I saw this image on Facebook and immediately took a screen shot.
SunFrog seems like it could have very well been the source, and has a whole collection of different states and sayings! (similar, similar)
I need it.
Your Turn
Happy Weekend!
Anna-Marie @BeautyandtheBeets
I love the windchime- the perfect colors of the ocean hanging on your house- and tableside guac at Chilis? They make it for you tableside? We haven’t been there in years but we have a giftcard we need to use.
Heather
Yup! It’s very new. I love seeing what ingredients they use and can attest it’s very fresh. Love it!

pieceofcaitlin

Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne
I’m loving that candle!! Now I want to go make my own coconut bowl, I mean, it would be great for holding jewelry and other things! And that wind chime has the prettiest colors :). That quote says it all, I’ll have to show the boyfriend, he’ll be thrilled and probably start planning our trips haha.
Heather
It totally would. And yes, I’m sure all boyfriends and husbands would appreciate the quote… on some level… 😉
Her Happy Balance
I’ve never heard of Brady Bands before, but I LOVE the tribal-esque designs. Plus they are super affordable! I’m off to shop now 😉
Heather
Let me know if you end up getting any and how you like them! xo
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
I love that quote about travel! I want to travel everywhere I possible can.
Heather
Ditto! Have a great weekend! 🙂
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
So much fun stuff in one post! Love those cute headbands. And yes, I’m all about the flowy blouse tops this summer too, especially here in HOT AZ! Mmmm can never get enough guac!
Heather
I bet! I love the AZ weather, no humidity! 😉
Hilary
I recently got the same VS bag – they get me all the time with those promotions! I really need to check out some of the classes my gym offers. I’m so intrigued by BodyPump, and now they’ve added BodyStep, which looks fun. Super cute souvenirs from your trip – I love reading about other people’s vacation through blogs so I can get new ideas.
