Hi there and Happy Friday to you!
It’s been an interesting week around here filled with unpredictable weather, events and upcoming happenings to prepare for on the calendar. They’re all great things, outside of dealing with the tail-end of Hurricane Ida here in New York City. We are just fine, and have no room to complain really. We have a leaky roof to handle, but we consider ourselves very lucky compared to the damage around us after some severe flash flooding.
My heart and prayers go out to anyone struggling right now.
You should know that I like to keep this page light-hearted most of the time, which I do, but I also don’t feel right continuing with business as usual without acknowledging the hard stuff from time to time. The world feels heavy right now. There is so much going on overseas and even within the U.S. borders, and this isn’t really the space to discuss them in detail. That said, I did want to include a quick note on the not-so-fun stuff that is our reality and plan to keep the prayers coming.
Scott is setting out for a two-week disaster relief mission in Haiti early tomorrow morning, so Skyler and I are going to be doing our best to hold down the fort while he’s away. We will miss hime for sure, but what a small price to pay compared to the sacrifice of others on this trip and the people that truly need help out there.
So that’s just a little bit of what’s been going on around here! *Phew*
I debated pushing this post off all together, but part of me wants to keep pushing forward with the fun and fluffy stuff, too. I mean it has to cheer some people up, right? That’s what I keep telling myself, so we’ll roll with it.
And on that note, let’s move on to this week’s edition of Friday Favorites.
Thank you so much for reading today!

- workouts with Peloton
All right, all right. It only took a year and a half of resisting the concept of the Peloton bike and the workouts before I finally gave in to give it a real shot. I was able to test out the bike, the tread, and the signature square weights during a few strength workouts while we were staying at our friends’ house in Michigan. It didn’t take long for me to approve, and now I am about a week into a 30-day free trial of the app. I am LOVING it.
Seriously, I’m almost upset that I didn’t give in sooner. The workouts are great and a huge game changer in the cardio department of my current exercise routine. We still haven’t purchase a bike (although, I feel like that is coming soon thanks to a huge price drop), but I have been completing the Audio-only workouts on my runs outside or on the treadmill. They’re much more enjoyable with a coach and accountability partner in real time.
I realize I’m probably one of the last people to cover this one, but man, I don’t know we have been waiting for. We are currently debating between keeping our family membership at the local YMCA or canceling and finally investing in the bike. But, for now, I can say that I am a big fan of the workouts and most of the instructors I’ve tried.
My username is lifenleggings if you want to be friends and work out together!
- Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels
This isn’t necessarily something to put into the “healthy snacking” category, but oh my goodness are these bad boys delicious. Have you ever tried Dot’s homestyle pretzels?
Scott first turned me onto these pretzels after bringing a few bags of them home from a trip to the Midwest. Both the Original and Southwest Seasoned bags are out of this world. The flavor is SO. GOOD. The only place I’ve found them here in NYC is at Nordstrom Rack stores (random), but it looks like they’re sold at other big retailers like Target and Amazon. Let me know if you’re just as obsessed as we are!
- the latest clean beauty news
There have been several new product releases over the past month or so. Have you checked them out?
Recently, Beautycounter released the Lid Glow Cream Shadows, Think Big All-In-One Mascara and the Glow First Priming Serum! More products are coming soon, including over ten new holiday sets that will be here before we all realize. (Seriously, where has 2021 gone?)
If you’re new around here, you can read all about why I love talking about these products on the Clean Beauty page. And if you’re already a fan, then I’d like to share the two best ways to save the most money in your purchases by partnering with me, either short-term or long-term.
What does this mean?
Short-term:
I’m currently looking for two hosts who would like to party (online) with me for the month of September! We can talk more about the details offline, but the main thing you need to know is that I do ALL of the work and all you have to do is invite the guests. It could even be as simple as me creating a referral code for you to send out in an email and/or on social, and lasts as long as you’d like it to up to seven days. That’s it!
What you get out of this is all of the host rewards earned through the party, and my last host rewards haul is what you see below. (I earned 5 free products, then was able to select any 5 products I wanted from the site at 50% off and took home a total of 13 full-size products for under $250, including rushed shipping.)
See the details of what’s inside along with why these are some of my favorites here.
Long-term:
If you’re looking for a long-term discount on your purchases (25% and higher), if you have a passion for sharing the importance of using clean beauty products, and if you’d like to earn commissions from sales (like the best affiliate program ever), then you should consider partnering as a consultant.
Beautycounter is trying to change the world to make it better and cleaner for all of us, and the strides that have been made even in the last two years that I have been a part of it have been HUGE. I am so proud to be aligned with such an amazing B-corp that gives back and puts continuous efforts into changing laws. It just makes everything that much sweeter.
Other perks of partnering include:
- 25% off (sometimes more) your purchases
- 25-35% commissions on all sales
- opportunity for constant bonuses and incentives
- HOST REWARDS (see above)
- access to pre-sales on new products with additional discounts
- access to training and unlimited support from mentors (including me!)
- flexibility to earn money from anywhere
This month marks my second year anniversary as a consultant with Beautycounter, and I am so grateful that I took that step to sign up and leap of faith in August of 2019! I started with small goals of simply paying for my own skincare and makeup, and I am blown away by how little that goals seems today.
I have covered our monthly grocery bills, paid for Skyler’s pre-school tuition, paid for vacations and even covered rent in NYC thanks to Beautycounter. That’s truly something to celebrate in my eyes, and I’m never shy to talk about the financial side with you if you’re curious and ask. I would love to chat with you!
So, if any of this interests you, there is a promotion happening through Midnight tonight – you can join as a partner for $20.21 until 11:59 PST. If you’d prefer the short-term, shoot me a message about that, too!

- picnic lunches in the park
Skyler has been requesting picnics on the regular lately, and I’m not mad about it. It’s something we both enjoy, it’s free to do together, and it gets us outside and active. Sometimes it will just be us, and other times we’ll bring Roadie if Scott can tag along, too.
I usually keep it simple and pack sandwiches, fruit, veggies, and chips or crackers but I guess it all depends on what I have on hand. Easy peasy! It’s the little things, right?

Okay, that just about wraps things up this week. I’ve got some major prep work and studying to do for upcoming commitments and deadlines (I’m so close to finishing my L1 Certified Nutrition Coach program it hurts!), so this weekend will be pretty low-key around here.
What are you up to? Do you have anything fun planned for Labor Day?
I appreciate you reading today, and you can keep up with the adventures on Instagram until next time. Have a great and safe holiday weekend!
