To those of you reading in the United States, I want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you are able to spend the day surrounded by loved ones and also take some time to unplug and give thanks. I guess a big plate of delicious food wouldn’t hurt either.
To all of you who live outside of the country or who aren’t celebrating a holiday today, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday.
Scott and I haven’t been able to visit home for the holidays since we moved up to Michigan, but we always find a way to make this time of year special in our own way.
Scott’s dad and step-mom were our first official visitors in our new Michigan home in 2012. We went to America’s Thanksgiving Parade in Downtown Detroit and spent the weekend exploring things to do in our area with them. We hosted our first Thanksgiving (with their help) the next year, and it turned out to be a great success. My mom came up for a visit last year, and she braved the cold with me to run the Turkey Trot Drumstick Double!
This year, we are taking a step back from the hoopla and are simply relaxing. There’s no extreme cooking and zero plans on the calendar. Sometimes it’s better to just keep things on the lighter side and enjoy spending time with those you love.
Life sure has changed for us over the last six months or so, and while we are still navigating through where the next Thanksgiving is going to take us, we have so much to be thankful for. I’m not going to start listing all of the things I’m grateful for, because that post would go on and on… and on.
Just know that we feel extremely blessed to be where we are and experience life as we do. And, I love and appreciate each and every one of you who support this blog and help me support my family.
Wishing you and your family a very special holiday.
