Last Saturday, Scott and I took an hour long Insanity workout from the famous Shaun T. (@ShaunTfitness) himself.

Getting Ready
Last week, I got an invite to the Powerade Zero: Zero Excuses Event from Danielle, an Orlando local who follows my blog. I’ve been following her for a few months now and was excited to meet her in person.
Around 7:45 a.m. Saturday, we were on our way to the unexpected Insanity of Shaun T. I grabbed a light breakfast for both Scott and I, including a Zone Perfect Protein Bar, a large coffee and a water for each of us.
Scott had the iced coffee, and shared part of his large apple with me on our way over.
The only thing I knew about this event was it was probably going to kick our butts. FYE: For Your Entertainment…
Insanity
I had never done the workout before, but in my head I pictured it to be similar to P90X. That’s pretty accurate to the plymoterics video, but (how to I put this…) just a little more insane.
In a nutshell, THIS is Insanity.
In 60 minutes, you can burn up to 1,000 calories. Seriously.
He doesn’t stop, and I made it a personal goal of mine not to stop either.
*PS: Great message Tyra! I just love her.
Powerade Zero: Zero Excuses Event
We got downtown to The Vue around 8:15 a.m. As we walked into the lobby, I was looking for a cute blonde about my age and spotted Danielle right away. Hi Danielle!
She was very sweet (just as I had expected), and went out of her way to get Scott and I into the VIP areas. Up at the pool deck, we took a minute to look around and found out why this place is called The View Vue.
It was gorgeous.
Knowing it was only a matter of time before the sun crept up passed the building, we set up front and center near the stage. I took full advantage of VIP here, claiming a spot out of the crowd.
This is where I ran into another friend of mine, Cat of Cat Melnyk Potography.
She was shooting the event and was nice enough to share her photos!

Time to get INSANE
Warm up started at 8:45 a.m. with local trainers. Right on time, Shaun T. made his debut fifteen minutes later.
The crowd was immediately PUMPED. It’s Shaun T ya’ll!
We got busy and jumped into the workout right away.
He had his assistant Scott with him on stage so he could walk around making sure everyone was working hard.
Neither one of them stopped, except during the 30 second water breaks. I was on a mission to do the same!
I had no idea what was going on around me, but I was in the zone and so was Scott.
Right off the bat we completed three rounds of full body jumps, squats and push-ups… and that was just the warm up.
Next up was abs. Lots of them.
(I’m sweating all over again just looking at these photos!)
Just when you think you’re done, more Power Jumps.
Keep it comin’ Shaun T. Why yes, I would love to do some push-up punches.
And that’s how I spent the rest of the hour. Up, down, over, around, in the air, on the ground and sweaty.
We finished with a killer series of (more) abs and wrapped up the session with some questions from the crowd.
Shaun T. had a lot of fans here, and I was certainly one of them.
I wasn’t wearing a Shaun T. is For Me t-shirt like these girls, but his workouts certainly are for me. Ridiculous, hard and insane.
After the workout, we went inside in groups for some Powerade and some power fuel. Tropical Smoothie Cafe provided smoothies and bagels and Luscious Desserts provided THESE.
Fat-Free Powerade Zero Cupcakes.
I’m going to need to figure out this recipe as soon as possible because they were to die for.
The key ingredients are Powerade Zero, gluten free flour, sugar-free gelatin and fat-free whip cream. I will keep you updated about any progress on this one, and please share if you attempt and successfully make a similar concoction.
It’s three days later, and I’m still a little sore. For the past few days both Scott and I’s calves have been ON FIRE, but it’s still a good feeling to have.
Shaun T., you officially whipped us into shape, and we love you for it.
Thanks again Shaun, Danielle, Cat and the Powerade Zero Team for such a great event!
Questions
Have you ever done a video workout series?
Shout outs to any Insanity, P90X survivors! Both programs are intense. Have any of you completed a series?

We have done P90X… and I cannot wait to start it again once baby Alana makes her arrival and my doctor gives me an okay to get started!
ME TOO! I would love you to be able to workout again, but I’m pretttty excited about Alana getting here already! 🙂
I have done both Insanity and P90X. I repeat both. Love it.
Awesome! Even if I’m not doing the full programs, I love to throw in a video every now and then.
