My friend and college roommate Katie is getting married in March and last weekend was all about celebrating the upcoming nuptials!
Now that I live away from my hometown, I cherish any time I get to spend with friends I grew up with in Orlando. I was so excited when I received the invite to join the bridal party to spoil our bride-to-be, Savannah style!
Katie’s Savannah Sweeties: Day 1
Instead of staying at a hotel, we enjoyed the privacy of a charming southern house built in the 1800’s.
A spirited group of four drove up early from Orlando Friday to get the house stocked up with goodies and ready for the bride. I thought they did a great job in the decorating department!
As soon as we walked in, I spotted the table filled with presents for everyone in attendance.
Over the past few months, the maid of honor and a few others conspired to adorn us with personalized mason jar acrylic tumblers (found here) and hand designed t-shirts. Inside of our mugs was a mini pink tiara and an oversized plastic ring for us to wear on the big night out!
I thought the shirts (designed by two of the bridesmaids) couldn’t have been more fitting for our weekend.
Quick house tour!
With three bedrooms and two baths, there was plenty of room for our group of ten to stay comfortably.
Since I was coming from Detroit, I opted to fly in and got to the house around 11 a.m Saturday. There were a few hours to kill before the bride arrived, so we took advantage of the gorgeous weather outside and walked over to Broughton Street for lunch and shopping.
Lunch at The Team Room
With rumbling tummies, our first stop was in a ridiculously cute restaurant and shop called The Tea Room. We all couldn’t get over the unique decorations!
As we settled in, I felt extremely welcomed back to the South with this warm spiced wine served in a classic china cup.
It was delicious, and only a preview of what was to come. The group of us ordered a variety off the menu and had to take a picture of how it came out to us.
Wanting to try something they were known for, I ordered the cornbread cobb salad which was just as dreamy as it looks.
(mixed greens, ham, bacon, glazed pecans, cornbread, house dressing)
After lunch, we spent the next hour or so (mostly window) shopping around up and down Broughten Street. My favorite finds were in the furniture stores. Finally, around 2:30 p.m. it was time to surprise the bride!
As we walked up to the house, we saw their car parked in front of it and I heard her yell “Heather Betttttty!” as soon as the group of us walked up. (For those of you who don’t know, Betty is my middle name I was given after my grandmother, and in high school my friends always called me HB!)
I wasn’t sure if my surprise was a success until I saw the look of shock on her face. Woo hoo, we did it!
She also had no idea where we would be celebrating, and loved the house and idea of being in Savannah! We spent the afternoon catching up and showering our bride-to-be with presents.
After a handful of rounds of Cards Against Humanity, (<- a hilarious card game I will for sure be investing in very soon!) we cleaned up and got ready for a night out on the town to celebrate our bride.
Layered up for the cool weather, we prepped her for a night of fun with the standard bachelorette checklist of tasks to complete before the night was over. We were ready for a good time!
Downtown Savannah Shenanigans
We started the night walking to dinner at Rocks on the River, the restaurant at the bottom of the Bohemian Hotel.
I split a chopped salad and nueske’ & truffle flatbread pizza with Ashley.
(bacon, mushroom, asiago, truffle oil, scallions, alfredo sauce) YUM!
We were going to check out the rooftop, but decided to save the view for the following day instead. We bar hopped on foot until her list was completely checked off, and with a little help from Richard (our not-so-human bachelorette party member), we made quite the statement everywhere we went.
We ended the night at a dueling piano bar called Savannah Smiles, and noticed about ten other bachelorette parties in attendance as well.
We got to humiliate our bride and maid of honor on stage and everybody had a great time!
Over the course of the weekend (without even exaggerating) we must have run into at least thirty groups of girls dressed in tiaras, veils, and *ahem* male member inspired attire.
It was certainly the weekend for brides-to-be in the city!
More of our trip and bachelorette stories to come!

Hi Heather! Great blog. Where did you find this house to rent? I’m looking for something similar. Thanks!
Heather
Hi Catherine, sorry I am just now responding to this. I had to ask the MOH because she did such a wonderful job planning the trip! She said once we determined a location she searched the following sites for houses:
http://www.vrbo.com
http://www.vacationrentals.com
http://www.homeaway.com
Our particular rental was associated with http://www.southernbellevacationrentals.com
Hope this helps!

I’m helping a friend plan her bachelorette party in Savannah in May and we’re trying to find a place to stay for 6-9 girls. Would you mind sharing the B&B you ladies stayed at???
Heather
Hi Neysha, thanks for reading! I wan’t the one who booked the house, so I don’t remember what the exact address is… but I do know it was near Houston and St. Julien Street. The MOH booked the trip for us, and she said once we determined a location she searched the following sites for houses:

I hope this helps. Have fun in Savannah!
