Hello! I hope you all have had a great day so far. Mine has been relatively busy, and I feel like I am at a point where I just want to sit down and chat with you guys. Is that weird?
I’ve seen this survey float around on a handful of blogs (thanks for the push, Presley, Courtney, Julie & Ashley!), and as most of you know, I love sharing a good one every now and then.
It’s been minute since a survey has appeared on the blog, so I thought this afternoon would be a great time to catch up with y’all!
Lately I’ve Been…
Making: Monster salads like it’s my job. I’ve been on a huge salad kick lately and I practically crave one every day. I love when I’m in this phase. Give me all the veggies!
Cooking: A lot less than normal. I think I’m going through a period of wanting cooler meals like smoothies and salads, which doesn’t require a lot of meal planning or prepping. I’m pretty sure I should step up my game here.
Drinking: All the water. And coconut water. And fruit infused water. All of it.
I’m surprised I can sit here long enough to type up this entire post without needing a stop into the restroom…
Reading: The Bible. That’s one book (or several, technically) that will never get old. <3
Wanting: To go to the beach! Gosh, it’s been ages. I honestly can’t remember the last time I was on a beach in a bikini when it was HOT out. Last summer in Texas? Not cool!
Looking: Forward to seeing Scott’s family next week! We weren’t able to make a trip home last year, so we are really excited about taking a week to drive down to Arkansas/Missouri and unplug while spending time with them. It’s been too long!
(And, yes, they are shooting on his father’s property. No big deal.)
Playing: Music. All day every day. You can always see what I’m listening to by checking out my Spotify profile and playlists.
Wasting: Time chatting with you guys until my next appointment at the gym. Well, I don’t consider typing up blog posts and catching up with the blog world “wasting” time, but you get what I mean.
Enjoying: Extra time with Scott. The NBA season and off-season is seriously night and day with his schedule and commitments.
It’s been so nice having our evenings together and (most) weekends free to go on dates and spend quality time together again. Summer, if you could just stay here forever… that’d be great.
Waiting: For Friday. For several reasons. I’m being SO vague and lame, but one of them is for Friday Favorites! 🙂
Liking: Seafood & meats. I went through a phase where I hardly craved any sort of meat, but made myself eat lighter meats like chicken, turkey, and (very rarely) fish when I felt my body needed it. These days, I’m stealing more and more steak off of Scott’s plates and craving a variety of seafood and chicken again. Especially pulled BBQ chicken.
I’m thinking I need to make this recipe for dinner tonight!
Wondering: How many of you like the break from content and healthy living talk for surveys like these? (If you enjoy seeing more personal posts like this — or don’t –, please let me know in the comments section!)
Loving: The warm weather lately. I don’t even care if it rains. As long as it’s warm out, I am a happy camper!
Hoping: This summer is longer than ever. I feel like we got gypped last year with about 2 months of warm and about 2 days of sunshine. I’m ready for 4 months of sunshine, all day, every day. Here’s hoping!
Needing: More sleep than ever. Seriously, am I an infant? Apparently 8 hours still isn’t enough these days.
Wearing: A lot of gym attire, either all black and grey for work or bright and patterned during workouts or days at home.
I know, huge surprise there.
Following: Flip or Flop on HGTV or Netflix. Have you ever seen this power house flipper couple? Scott and I are addicted to this show, which might be a problem since he now wants to include “fixer uppers” into house searching. We’re not as cool as them, bud. I have a feeling anything they find easy to take on would be years of nightmares for us!
Noticing: My body craves being outdoors. I’m just so much happier when the weather is nice and the sun is out longer in the day. This is probably why I’m not really friends with the winter time. We obviously have different goals.
Knowing: Scott and I are in a great place right now. Most of you know that we uprooted our entire lives just shy of three years ago, and it has taken more time to adjust than we predicted. There are still days that go by where I am extremely homesick, but at the same time, I know we are where we are for a reason, and I’m totally content with it. God is good.
Thinking: I should probably stop recording shows I’ve seen every single episode to every single season of. Now that I own the 10 season DVD set of Friends, it seems silly. I can’t wait, however, for Sex and the City to get on Netflix. The minute that happens, I’ll be hooked for days (even though I’ve already seen them all)!
Feeling: Full because I just downed half a bag of dark chocolate almonds. Really though. Somebody take these away from me!
Bookmarking: A ton of articles on Facebook. I used to email links to myself, but you can just save any article by clicking the right arrow on the top right corner and clicking “Save”. You can build quite the collection and access them any time on your Home Page by clicking “Saved” on the left sidebar. Duh!
Opening: Mail. Now that we live in an age where you can announce your life on social media, it’s extra special to receive hand-written letters, cards, and announcements on paper. We’ve got quite a few weddings and events booking our calendars this year, and our mailbox seems to be anything but dull lately. I love it!

Hi Heather! I love a good survey. I also like opening mail, coconut water, being outdoors and seeing family — much like you. Enjoy all that extra time with Scott. 🙂 And looking forward to Friday Favorites as well!

My fiance and I LOVE Flip or Flop! How cute is that couple?! Happy Wednesday, Heather! 🙂

They’re seriously the cutest. And they sure know their stuff!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Hi Heather! I enjoy these kind of posts since I am a fan of blogs that offer a variety of content . Healthy living but some other stuff (inculding personal stories) in the mix too! So surveys are just fun. Like you I am really just enjoying the warm weather after a cold winter and lots of rain. Enjoy the extra time with Scott. Summer should last forever, right?
Heather
Yay, Lauren! I always love reading your comments. Thank you for all of the blog love and support! xo Also, I totally agree… no winter, extra summer. I’ll take it!

Wait…YOU’RE COMING TO ARKANSAS?! Heather, if you are in the Northwest Arkansas area, I would be more than happy to meet up for a drink or lunch date! Or even a walking date if you can handle the heat and humidity around here, haha. The walking trails in my hometown area are gorgeous, though, so I know some recommendations. I hope you guys have a safe trip! And the picture with Scott and his family shooting guns is on point. I have practiced shooting with my father before at a local gun range. It’s not a bad time. 🙂 Please email me or reach out to me if you’d be free to meet up in Arkansas!
Heather
YES!! Scott was born in Branson, MO and raised all over the state line. He went to the U of A for 5 years! (he got 2 degrees, so it took him a little longer) 😉 I’ll definitely let you know if we are heading anywhere near Fayetville!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
I love surveys like this! And cucumber infused water is my favorite!!
Heather
That sounds delicious right now… off to see what fruit/veggies I can wrangle up in my fridge!
Janelle @ WhollyHealthy
I just did this same survey on my blog today actually – great minds think alike? I love Flip or Flop (and pretty much any HGTV show).
Heather
I love it! And I’m getting more into HGTV as the years go by!

I love posts like these – you really get to know the every day of the blogger and they are super fun to read. I might keep this one for my blog! Oh and isn’t opening mail the best!
Heather
You should, it’s a fun one! Thanks for reading 🙂
renaissancerunnergirl
I really like posts like these too, getting to know the woman behind the words! I may do one myself, although I feel like I “share” a lot already 🙂
Heather
Ha, aren’t blogs for sharing, too? I’m glad you enjoy reading the surveys!
Courtney
Loved the survey, friend!! 🙂 xo
Heather
Loved reading yours as well! Surveys are so fun to fill out 😉
Brit
I like surveys! You have a great mix of content on your blog. I relate to the fun of receiving real snail mail. I used to send goofy postcards to friends of mine every so often, because postcards don’t take long to scribble a note on and pop in the mail! I should start doing that again.
Heather
Thanks, Brit! The postcards are a great idea. You could have those out in the mail in a minute or so!
China
I LOVE these surveys! Such a fun way to break things up.
Lately I have been reading nonstop! I just finished “The Husband’s Secret”, which was a fun quick read. It had a surprising ending and some good lessons in it too.
I am reading “Ask and It Is Given”, which is about using your thoughts to manifest your desires. It is really interesting and proving a lot of good tip for positive self talk.
And I just started “The Boston Girl” last night which, is by Anita Diamant, who is the same author as “The Red tent’, which I loved.
Kristin
I’m so jealous that you get to experience Michigan summers. My boyfriend is from northern Michigan and while I’ll happily avoid the winters, I’d kill for the mild summers over the SC summers I live through now.
as for my survey question: I’ve been watching Mad Men and I’m kind of obsessed. I’m mad it’s taken me this long to hop on the train.
Bride's Body
I love the surveys – keep ’em coming!!! And I can’t help it – I have an inkling that you might be pregnant!!!! With the vague answers, looking forward to Friday, having random cravings, not feel like 8 hours is enough sleep – ah,….I hope I’m right!!! xoxo
Heather
Haha, not quite yet. Although I can see why you might think that! Thanks so much for reading!
