Hello and Happy Monday to you! Today I am coming to you after the lowest of low key weekends, (in the best way possible).
With a goal of catching up on sleep and working on the computer, I hardly left the house. It’s a shame, too, because the weather was (and still is!) gorgeous. Did you guys do anything fun?
Considering the next couple of weekends are going to be packed with activities, I decided to milk my free hours as much as I could and spend some much needed quality time at home with the fur kids. After a 15-hour shift at the gym on Friday, rest is all my body wanted to do!
I woke up early to teach again on Saturday morning, then returned home to a house full of snuggle bugs around Noon. It’s pretty hard to get motivated to do much of anything when they pile on you the second you sit down. Understandable, right?
Scott left town for the weekend, so I took advantage of being in total control of the remote and enjoyed a mini-marathon of Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix. I started from the very beginning and kept playing episodes in the background of whatever I was doing throughout the weekend. I just love the beginning seasons! Oh, McDreamy… how I already miss you.
I eventually got moving a couple of hours later and gave the house and bedroom closet a good clean. That was long overdue.
Roadie and I started getting ancy from being indoors, so I put on my running shoes, leashed him up, and took him on a new running loop through the neighborhood right before sunset. It’s nice to mix it up sometimes.
Roadie loves being outdoors to take in the scenery as much as I do!
And hey, it was even warm enough to wear a tank top and shorts! It was an all over win in the weekend running department.
We took our time getting through three and a half miles, then spent the rest of our night indoors and snuggled up on the couch again. Total grandma status for a Saturday night, y’all.
But first, dinner. Living the single girl (for the weekend)’s dream, I whipped up a quick soup and salad combo, thanks to the produce drawer in our refrigerator and Amy’s Organics.
Sunday wasn’t too much different. I woke up without an alarm and decided to stream our church service online with a side of breakfast.
I spent the next few hours doing a couple of projects for the gym on the computer, then took a break by leading Roadie on a long walk outside. He sure got spoiled this weekend!
Look Ma, green things!
I took a scan of what we needed at the grocery store when I returned home, then made a stop into Whole Foods after running some errands. Speaking of Amy’s soups… check out the variety of flavors on their shelves! Jackpot.
In true Whole Foods fashion, I loaded my cart with the essentials and then some, spending pretty much my whole paycheck in one swoop.
Because, you know, I really needed flowers at home.
I couldn’t leave without a trip to their hot bar, which isn’t very surprising, either. I would stop in to eat a meal there every single day if I could!
This time, I focused on getting greens back into my body and topped it with some thai noodles, edamame and seasoned tofu. It was delicious!
I finished cleaning the house until I left to grab Scott from the airport, then stayed up way too late catching up with him. Looking back, my weekend seems pretty lame… but it was perfect. Sometimes, in the midst of the madness, you just need a day or two of rest to balance it all out.
I hope you all have had a great start to your Monday. I’ll catch you later this afternoon!

Questions of the Day
• When was the last time you spent the majority of your weekend at home?
• Are you one who loves to lounge at home, or are you quick to get cabin fever?
I am a total mix of both. I can go, go, go for weeks at a time, but eventually I wear out and want to do nothing for a day or two. It’s a constant cycle! Scott, on the other hand, doesn’t have an off button. It’s a treat for us to stay home and watch a movie, so I treasure those lazy nights in with him. On my own, I could easily fall into the Netflix trap a couple nights a week! To each their own, I suppose.

I’m a mix of both too! Often I crave an uninterrupted weekend!

I think a mix of both is the perfect formula for weekend bliss. 😉
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
Haha my husband was out of town on Saturday, too so I definitely had girly shows playing in the background while I cleaned 🙂
Heather
Haha, the best way to clean in my opinion! 😉

Sounds like a great low key weekend! We actually did about the same thing. The next six weeks or so are going to be crazy so I wanted to take advantage of not having much to do.

I think that’s a great strategy. Re-charge your batteries before you get burnt out!

I spent the majority of my weekend at home this weekend too! Lots of R&R time, haha! I need to get some more greens in me- that salad looks delicous!
Heather
I did too… I guess I left out the part where I ate half a large pizza Friday night. Ha! Greens were needed!

This was one of those crazy go-go-go weekends for us too. Next weekend I’m hoping for a chill weekend, with some spring cleaning and hopefully not many pages from the hospital. 🙂 I try to plan my “nothing” weekends for when I’m on call, but I agree with you–balance is key!!
Heather
I’ll be crossing my fingers for a “page-free” weekend for you!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Ahh pretty kitty! That salad looks amazing! I’m glad you had an enjoyable low key weekend. I did too! Thanks so much for linking up!
Heather
Haha, you say yours was low-key, but I saw your activities! You go girl!
Katie @ Live Half Full
I spent a lot of my weekend at home this past weekend and now I have cabin fever! I’ll thank myself though- work is crazy busy and wedding season is upon us!
Heather
It’s nice for a while, but I can definitely see how you can get cabin fever. I haven’t experienced that in quite some too… but I definitely did before I started working outside of the home!
Jessie @ Just Jessie
Looks like you enjoyed your weekend! It was super warm here in Wisconsin, too, and I definitely took advantage! I love having time home alone, but I get cabin fever pretty easily so as much as I try to be low-key, I usually end up doing something.
Heather
Three cheers for warm weather! Here’s hoping it finally sticks this time! 😉

I am also a mix of both when it comes to weekends! There are times where I want to run out and go somewhere, be social and other times where I love binge watching a show! 🙂
chasetheredgrape
Looks like the exact weekend that you needed to recharge!
I hate when David is away because we binge watch the same shows together so I can’t watch them when he is not there! As tempting as it might be!
