Last Saturday, Scott and I spontaneously decided we were going drive down to Miami for Burnie’s Birthday Party! Who’s Burnie? The Miami Heat mascot, of course.
Scott has worked closely with entertainment and mascots for over 15 years, and we wanted to go show some support and hang out with friends that were going to be at the game too.
We left about 8am Sunday morning and set out for the 3 and 1/2 hour drive down to Miami. I don’t know why we haven’t done this together before, because the drive really wasn’t that bad.
The view from the hotel room alone made the trip worth it…
We drove straight to the American Airlines Arena and arrived shortly after 11:30am, just enough time to meet up with friends and help out.
My camera was acting up during the game, so I didn’t get to catch too many action shots… but we sat pretty close and I enjoyed watching an NBA game outside of Orlando.
Oh, HI guys! Happy Birthday Burnie! 🙂
Check out the Banana Guy (a superfan), Burnice and the little Burnies! Adorable.
Scott and I sat back and enjoyed the game while the big furry guys put on a show….
My camera shut down at the end of the performance, but it ended with Stanley Panther “eating” a Miami Heat Dancer.
By the way, the routine you saw was choreographed by Scott and was originally performed at STUFF’s birthday party last year. That reminds me of something that happened to an unfortunate dancer at the 1:40 mark:
Classic. And yes, the blonde who ended up in the Toronto Raptor’s belly is me.
After the Heat Game, we continued the dance party by meeting up with Gus and Barry.
Barry’s been one of his best friends for years and is a little on the quiet side (obviously).
We don’t get to see him very often and we were excited to have another dance party of our own… boy, did we ever.
Who needs the Super Bowl when you have these guys as entertainment?
*PS: I debated on whether to post these pictures on my blog or not…but when it came down to it I HAD TO because they were so good.
I mean…
This is my husband and his friends. Sometimes there just aren’t words.
Life is definitely interesting sometimes.
Miami was great and I haven’t had that much fun dancing in quite some time. We hopped around a lot, but found some great night spots including:
Wet Willies – Frozen drink bar with uniquely flavored daiquiris.
Mangos – Gloria Estefan’s Latin bar with live music and entertainment.
Jazid – Great spot for live reggae and jazz music.
Purdy Lounge – Pool hall turned dance club with great music and an additional themed music room. The night we went was 80s and I was pumped!
In case you missed it, I dedicated an entire Playlist to my love for 80s. (This part of the night made me very happy.)
I’m looking forward to All-Star Weekend in Orlando because a lot of Scott’s friends will be in town and I’m sure the dance parties will continue.
Until then, we’re off to Philly & New York!
See you soon!

That is exactly right. This wasn’t a plotted shoot, and I had never been to Rich’s before. I just showed up to have my seat done, and had brought a small video camera along. If I could have disconnected that thing, I would have; It drove me nuts.
I have been browsing online more than 4 hours today, yet
I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
