What started in Miami, continues in Philadelphia, followed by New York.
Have we gotten the itch to travel? Well, yes… but that’s not exactly what these trips are about.
Back in June, Scott and I parted ways with the Orlando Magic. He had been in Entertainment there for over 9 years, and I had been a dancer for 4. When his contract ended, it was not renewed and our time since resulted in planning our wedding, going on our honeymoon and staying optimistic in what the next chapter in our lives will be.
It’s been almost 7 months now, and the search continues. Don’t get me wrong, we both (especially Scott) have been busy with projects, opportunities that pop up and freelance work. This has been nice for the time being, but the need for a full-time career and working environment has come and we’re off to scout out different areas of where we could end up.
Our preference would be to stay in the NBA. Scott has been in Sports Entertainment for over 15 years now, and I can tell that’s really what he wants to be doing. Any sports team has our interest, but the NBA seems to be the best fit for us and we’re hoping to find our next move soon.
First up, Philadelphia, PA:
Without sharing too much, there’s an opportunity calling from the Philadelphia 76ers. Before knowing if that’s an organization he wants to be a part of, we’re going up there to watch a game and scope out the area.
As you’re reading this, we’ve already gone to the game, talked to our contacts and are currently checking out what Philly has to offer. I’ve never actually spent time in Philly, so I’m excited to finally get the chance to do so.
And, it’s probably in the city’s favor that Scott booked us a Bed & Breakfast to do so… 😉
New York, New York:
We train to New York tomorrow morning and I’m excited to get up there. Just like the t-shirts say, We LOVE NY.
We went the a New Jersey Nets game last year and stayed a few days after to visit some friends in NYC. That trip really opened our eyes to how different living up there would be. As much as I love being close to my family in Orlando, I have to say the thought of living anywhere close to a big city like New York really excites me.
There’s so much culture, things to see and places to go. Last year, we did a little bit of everything and are looking forward to exploring even more!
The downside to living in such a busy place for me is little things like owning a car, driving to go grocery shopping, and enjoying a back yard. I guess that’s one thing we’ll have to look at in areas of both Philly and New York since the suburbs will always win for me.
Unless it’s somewhere close to here:
I guess only time will tell.
I’ll let you know all about it when we get home, but for now we’re going to enjoy NBA Basketball, good food, and good friends.
I feel like a highlight of this trip might just be…
Knicks vs. Lakers IN Madison Square Garden. I.CAN’T.WAIT.
