When I mentioned I needed new running shoes to my husband a few months ago, I meant it. I had worn my old Mizuno’s down the the ground, and have been interested in trying what’s new in the running world ever since.
Through my ambassadorship with FitFluential, I was given the opportunity to review a brand new (and stinkin’ adorable) running shoe from Mizuno. Umm… let me think about this for a second… yes, please!
Just this week, Mizuno introduced the Wave Sayonara, their lightest everyday training shoe yet. Before I even got a chance to read up on the product, they already got a huge advantage in cool points with the colors. I received the Women’s Electric Silver/Purple Magic color, but they also come in a White/Lime Punch option. Men also have a few fun color combinations, and both retail for $119.99.
As soon as I opened a box and saw bright pink running shoes inside, I fell in love. It looks like I wasn’t the only one intrigued, either.
The Sayonara is low the ground, flexible, and provides an enhanced foam midsole to ensure proper cushioning. This need for speed shoe is built so runners experience a light, smooth, comfortable, and responsive “ride” without the extra bulk and weight. Through this shoe, Mizuno encourages you to “wave goodbye to slow and say hello to more energized, mezamashii running.”
What is Mezamashii Running?
Mizuno is helping runners everywhere achieve euphoric, brilliant running. They’re calling this The Mezamashii Project.
“You don’t let the distance bother you. You don’t let the time bother you. You get out there and you just lose yourself.”
“It becomes just effortless sometimes. And from then on, it was like ‘See Ya.'”
Say Sayonara! Product Information
Being more than just a pretty shoe, these brand new kicks are designed with speed and functionality in mind.
The design of the Mizuno Wave Sayonara came from the best parts of two of their most trusted and endeared shoes, the Elixir and the Precision. Basically, you are getting the best of both worlds in one place, or in this case… shoe.

My Review
Before taking them on a test run, I noticed the modern design of slanted laces. Besides the fun and bright colors, that is my favorite feature. I also like the striped looking pattern and clear rubber on the top and front sides of the shoe.
The shoe screams comfortable.
I have been an advocate for Mizuno running shoes since I started training for my first half marathon back in December of 2011. Since then, the only shoes I have purchased for running are Mizuno Wave Enigmas.
Without comparing the two, I have instead come to a conclusion that the Sayonaras are great for shorter runs, while the Enigmas might be better (for me) for runs longer than 6.2 miles (a 10K).
I guess I just crave the high cushioned support, and know I am getting it with a thicker heel. For a quick three miler around the neighborhood, however, I would most likely lace up the Sayonaras. I would also pick these over the bulk of others to pack and take with me while traveling.
They fit true to size, and I really liked the lightweight and flexibility feel of the design. So far I have gone for two runs outside (Don’t you LOVE how the colors pop in the sun?), worn them to a few group fitness classes, and taken them on errands all around town.
Overall: cute, comfortable and practical!

Love the look of these! I’m a sucker for a bright pink (or purple!) sneaker. I’m not quite in need of new running shoes yet, but the next time I am, I think I’ll definitely look into Mizunos because I’ve always heard good things about them.
