This morning started off just like most of them have been lately: a wake up call of 7:30 a.m. (finally adjusting back to rising at a consistent time again!), coffee, breakfast, and about a half hour of chill time to get myself goin’.
I was excited to finally dig into this NuttZo nut & seed butter I have been pining after in my pantry for a few weeks.
Smothered on top of two Blueberry Kashi waffles (random, but the only flavor in our freezer) and sprinkled with chia seeds, I devoured what you see on this plate in about two minutes.
While I used to grab breakfast and head straight down to the computer, I have been enjoying my morning “coffee” time this summer another way: watching Nickelodeon.
I grew up with that television channel playing in the background as I got ready in the mornings, and have been tuning into it again ever since they started playing Friends re-runs on a nightly basis. I swear, I can never see any of those episodes too many times. I could straight up quote every line of an episode, and I will still tune in to it and laugh out loud by myself.
Occasionally, you might see #friends or #friendsquotes pop up on my twitter feed at night. Almost ten years after the series ended, and I’m still an avid fan. No shame here!
Earlier this summer, I was hooked on Saved By the Bell episodes, but recently I have been drawn to Full House.
No matter what show it is, I always have a giggle about the styles and fashion statements that were popular back in the nineties. Hairstyles are fun to note too, but what kills me is remembering dressing like the characters my age at the time did.
I literally owned Stephanie Tanner’s sweater. Not only did I own it, but I remember wearing it proudly over and over, along with half a dozen other printed sweaters with puppy dogs and bunnies on it to school.
Paired with the half-up hairstyle, bangs and scrunchie that was totally me.
So great!
After a full episode, I headed downstairs to get to work. Before long, the carpet cleaners we scheduled to come in today were at the door and got to work too.
It’s funny to me how all of our pets respond so differently to strangers in the house. Roadie gets crazy protective and barks his head off, Cali runs upstairs to the furthest hiding spot possible, and Aspen just hangs out and wants anything with a pulse to pay attention to her.
She will climb on whoever, or whatever looks new and fun.
With carpet cleaning, she gets a lot of newly (temporarily) arranged furniture to play with. I swear, she is the definition of curious.
Roadie, on the other hand, I don’t really trust as much to roam around with strangers in the house. I always have to lock him in wherever I am, or put him in the basement with his bed and a bone.
He always tries to give me the puppy dog eyes, and it breaks my heart a little… but in reality he’s still being spoiled. I make sure to let him know he’s not in trouble and back my words with a huge treat. Guess that’s all I can do!
Still full from breakfast (my eats have been filling me up faster these days), I am going to wait on lunch for a few hours. I have a concert to work tonight and think a mid-day “linner” will work just fine.
Oh, and I am not forgetting to mention something that has been pretty important in my life this week: Dancer Auditions!
Yesterday marked Day 3, which involved a boot camp workout and learning another dance routine. At this moment, there is not a final team formed and the most I can mention is that I will have plenty to talk about in just a few weeks!
In the mean time, what I can share is how much I am loving the new Reebok Dance line. I got this sports bra from Gina, who kindly let me borrow it during FitBloggin’. Knowing she can never show her midriff while teaching Zumba, she kindly passed it onto me who could wear it more often to rehearsals and team workouts.
This is a sample style, but there are a few versions of it you can purchase online from their website (look for the Dance Short Bra).
I’m also wearing an insanely comfortable pair of PUMA sneakers, I received to review as part of a campaign for FitFluential. More on those coming too!
Off to run some errands, get a workout in, and get ready for an appearance later this evening. Hope you have a fabulous day!
Questions of the Day
• What were some of the television shows you grew up watching in the mornings or after school?
• How do your pets react to strangers in the house? All about the attention or scared silly?
Besides the ones I mentioned above, I got absolutely hooked on Family Matters, Step By Step, and Clarissa Explains It All. During middle and high school both my sister and I became obsessed with Golden Girls. Why? I have no idea. To this day, I will still turn it on and it drives Scott crazy!
Kaitlyn
Oh my goodness, I’m obsessed with Friends! Throughout high school, I collected all 10 seasons on DVD and continue to re-watch them whenever I need some laughs. My friend bought me a Friends trivia game in college, but no one will play with me because I know an embarrassing amount about the show 🙂
Heather
Oh, I would totally play with you!!! I have actually never played that trivia game. I feel like I would dominate because I know every. single. episode. backwards and forwards, lol.
Kaitlyn
Haha, yes! That’s how I feel, too. If I’m ever in Detroit I’ll bring it! 🙂
FitBritt@MyOwnBalance
Oh I was really in to both Save by the Bell and Full House when I was a kid! I remember watching Nick at Nite and the re-runs were Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. Now that it is Friends I feel so old! I love the Reebok dance line too! Super cute stuff!
Heather
Oh I forgot about those! Loved all of them!
Heather Murphy
I will watch ANYTHING on Nick at Night! It’s so comforting, I guess since those were the shows we grew up to! When I was pregnant I watched it at all hours of the night bc sleep wasn’t happening..
Heather
Nick at night was my jam!!
April V
Oh my goodness!! Clarissa Explains It All!? I LOVED that!! I got really into The Wonder Years and My So Called Life!
April V
Oh..and don’t forget Blossom & Sabrina the Teenage Witch! 😉
Heather
OMG Blossom! Loved her (and Joey of course!!) 🙂
Anna-Marie @BeautyandtheBeets
I love the old school shows including Full House and Saved By the Bell- but I love Three’s Company too. One show I can never find on TV anymore is Facts Of Life which is my favorite. I can’t wait to hear the results of the auditions- good luck!
Laurin
I used to be really into The Cosby Show and Family Ties! I also loved Saved by the Bell…everything seems so much cheesier now when I watch the re-runs but I couldn’t get enough back in the day!
Rachael
Gotta second the Cosby and Family Ties! Anyone remember Silver Spoons? It wasn’t around too long but I loved it! And Square One TV on PBS.
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake
I am still obsessed with Friends–I actually turn it every night and watch it until I fall asleep!
Suzanne @ Mixing It Up
Golden Girls is one of my all time favorite series!! It makes me laugh so much every time I watch it. We are also big fans of Full House!! My kids love to watch it and cannot believe it when I show them how they have all grown up and are as old as me, lol!!
I totally loved Dj’s style from Full House back in the day. Shoulder pads and banana hair clips….oh yeah, I was stylin’!!
