Hi friends! As we gear up and get ready to say goodbye to 2014 this week (what? I know… crazy), I thought it would be fun to take a look back at some HWG posts from the past, and share the ones that have been the most popular this year.
As you have probably already picked up from the title, this Top 10 list does not include food or fitness related posts. Doing so would have automatically filled all ten spots. I will, however, most likely do another round-up and share those with you tomorrow.
Here are the most popular posts currently floating around the blog!
10. Hit The Floor: How Close Is It to an NBA Dancer’s Reality?
It was interesting to see that y’all liked this one!
Here I shared my thoughts on the scripted television series about a pro basketball dance team, Hit The Floor on VH1.
This post goes through a detailed list of all of my favorite self-tanners in the form of lotion, wipe, and even spray on.
By no means am I an expert on this subject, however, I have been testing out these sort of products and getting spray tans since making my college dance team in 2004. That makes ten (whoa!) years of trial and error… so what’s included has been tested and re-tested several times!
Talk about a blast from the past!
I was hesitant of sharing a post from so long ago… (my writing style was horrendous), but it features a notebook that absolutely helped keep me sane during the wedding planning process. I saw a lot of wedding notebooks out there, but decided to create my own with the categories and organization topics I needed the most.
Hopefully this helps the brides-to-be out there!
(I apologize in advance for the somewhat blurry photos.)
7. Ridiculously Easy DIY Fall Wreath
I loved this little project!
And for those of you who think it’s not the season to create one for yourself… well… we leave ours up year-round.
Wow! This one must have gotten popular around Halloween.
Get ready for a collection of rad 80s outfits, including a ridiculous Brett Michaels inspired look from my husband. You’ve been warned.
5. Perfectly Pinterest-y Baby Shower
Sharing a dear friend’s baby shower full of Pinterest-inspired crafts, food, and ideas. To be clear, I did not help plan or decorate this one. I simply took pictures and documented the event. It was adorable. <3
I especially loved the punch display, the make-your-own headband station, and the diaper thoughts activity!
4. October Stitch Fix Breakdown
Stitch Fix recaps and posts are mighty popular around here.
This breakdown from October is actually one of my favorite fixes yet. You can always look over my reviews by browsing the Stitch Fix category!
3. Everyday 5-Minute Makeup (Tutorial)
This one is a true oldie but goodie!
This tutorial includes a breakdown of my everyday 5-minute makeup routine and go-to products I have been turning to for years. It may seem like a lot of steps for some of you, but I would bet that anyone could get it down in 5 minutes with enough practice.
2. Top 20 Photoshoot Tips + Tricks
Spending six years dancing professionally in the NBA took me through plenty of photo shoots, calendar shoots, and special events I had to look my very best at.
This post goes through my ultimate list of tips and tricks to help you feel and look your best on your wedding day, at a special event, or even at a photo shoot of your own!
And the most popular (non-food/fitness) HWG post of 2014…
1. DIY Wedding Anniversary Gift
Since the traditional 1 Year Wedding Anniversary Gift is given in the form of paper, I wanted to make a DIY present from the heart. This frame (an under $20 project) features lyrics from the song we used from our first dance.
This post goes through a step-by-step tutorial on how I created it using Microsoft Word.

Phew! Taking a look back at some of those wedding posts really brought me back to 2011. It’s funny to see how life changes and how much things have evolved around here.
Thank you following along and joining in on this blogging journey with me!
See you in the morning!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
That frame is SO cute! I wish I thought to do that for the first anniversary. Next year is cotton. That will be interesting! haha

I’ve totally dropped the ball on the last two years… watch out year 4: Fruit & Flowers 😉

Ha, I guess so! Thanks Lauren <3

I really like this idea of sharing your most popular posts! It’s awesome to see how many people are still into DIY! Re: self tanning, I am with you sista, and have tried them all. Awesome post! My current faves are Hawaiin Tropic spray on and L’oreal Sublime. 🙂
Heather
Thanks, Jill! I’ve never tried the Hawaiian Tropic spray on tan. Good to know it’s worth buying!
Lake Shore Runner
Your self tanning one helped me! I bought the tanning lotion right after you posted that.
Heather
Woo hoo! I’m glad to see all my years of applying a variety of dark orange creams finally paid off 😉
Kristine
Love this post. I was going to ask if your everyday 5 minute makeup post was still relevant. Glad to hear it still is. Your makeup always looks great!! Are you still using Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging in Medium as your concealer? I’m in the market for a new one as my concealer isn’t cutting it anymore. Thanks and Happy New Year!!
Heather
Well, I’ve cut it down to two eyeshadow shades (no dark accent in the corner), but other than that it’s pretty spot on! Actually, for concelear these days I have been using L’Oreal Visible Lift Repair Absolute Foundation. I was in a bind and forgot mine and then borrowed this from a friend and haven’t turned back! It’s great 🙂
