Hey there, Fashion post! Did anyone notice I completely skipped over October? Whoops!
Since this is not a blog centered around fashion, I do not capture every outfit I put together. I do, however, try to highlight pieces or outfits the every day shopper on a budget could afford and get multiple uses out of.
I am pretty sure that half of my new winter pieces are from Forever 21 and the other half are from Target. As someone who has lived in Florida their entire life, I needed a lot of warm accessories when we got up here! With expenses from moving still lingering, I needed them for a good price too. Lucky for me the biggest Forever 21 I have ever seen is only about fifteen minutes away at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets.
I bought my very first “official” winter coat a few weeks ago! I think it is funny that is what makes me feel like I actually live here now. I have not pictured it yet, but instead plan on doing a “What to Look For in a Winter Coat” post very soon. Hey, I had no clue!
Until then, enjoy the hodge-podge of Fall outfits I have highlighted below.
Fashion Finds
Lets start with what I wore to the Tour of Gymnastics Champions for Scott’s Birthday. My main goal here was to be comfortable, yet dressy enough to feel like I am still celebrating going out with my husband.
This sweater screams comfortable. I wore it again to the latest Detroit Pistons Basketball game, paired with a pair of red skinny jeans, a black scarf, and a pair of black boots you will see below.
For this outfit in particular, I wanted to play with wearing black and brown together. Not everyone likes to do it… but I think it can be fashionable, if not overdone.
Sweater: Kirna Zabete via Target
Belt: Forever 21
Skinny Jeans: Forever 21
Boots: Steve Madden via Nordstrom Rack
Earrings: Urban Outfitters (sale)
The next outfit is very easy and interchangeable with handful of sweaters and scarfs I now own. This was one of my first times getting to dress for the cold and I wore it to see the Tennis Legends Championship Classic.
Sweater: Mossimo via Target
Scarf: Forever 21
Long Ivory Tank: Boundaries via Nordstrom Rack
Jeans: Jolt via Nodstrom Rack
Boots: Steve Madden via Nordstrom Rack
If you are new to the blog, you will catch on to the fact that I have a thing for polka dots and stripes. I am beginning to think I should veto further striped purchases for little while because they seem to be taking over my closet!
Here is an outfit I wore to get my brand new Michigan Driver’s License! (Still waiting for that bad boy to come in the mail, but I am pretty excited about it.) I love playing with color and found that a bright yellow and navy or indigo blue go really nicely together.
Sweater: Forever 21 (I love drooped back that is not pictured)
Jacket: Mossimo via Target
Scarf: Forever 21
Skinny Jeans: Forever 21
Boots: Steve Madden via Nordstrom Rack
Earrings: Urban Outfitters (sale)
Gotta love getting both sets of earrings for $10 total!
I told you… I have a slight love affair with stripes. Below is actually a cardigan I purchased from Forever 21 this past summer. It is making a comeback and doubling as a buttoned-up shirt up here.
I wore this outfit to another Detroit Pistons Basketball game. You will probably see a lot of red, white a blue accents in my outfits for this reason.
I have also had these black corduroy pants in my closet for quite a while, but this is the first time I wore them.
Cardigan (buttoned up): Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
Coudoroy Pants: Forever 21
Boots: Urban Outfitters
This next picture is to show an adorable overcoat my friend Eva gave me before moving up to Michigan. It fit right in to my wardrobe being Mossimo brand from Target. It went perfectly with a black sweater seen here, grey skinny jeans seen here, and the black boots pictured above.
Earrings: Urban Outfitters (the first ones pictured)
Gloves: Calvin Klein via Nordstrom Rack
The last outfit was also worn to – surprise – a Detroit Pistons Basketball game. Now that I strictly work from home, I only get to dress in “real clothes” when there is a reason to.
Sorry the lighting is so bad, and ignore the mess of a room behind me in the picture on the right. This is back when we were living in a hotel! (So glad those days are behind us).
Sweater Dress: Forever 21
Textured Tights: Forever 21
Belt: Forever 21
Scarf: Forever 21
Boots: Steve Madden via Nordstrom Rack
As we get into the cold winter months, I will be on the lookout for bargains on the type of clothing I have never seen, let alone purchased before. As we prepare for our first snow-filled winter, keep an eye out for a similar type of post coming up in December!
