Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend has started off on a great note.
Last night, my dad, Scott and I arrived to my grandmother’s house in a small town called Lovells, Michigan!
We don’t have service there, but since we are currently in the car and on our way to spend the day in Traverse City, I wanted to pop in and share a few photos from the weekend so far.
I always loved visiting my grandmother growing up. She lives in a cottage with a gorgeous (super relaxing) stream right in her backyard. I have only been here a handful of times, and the last trip was on a family vacation fourteen years ago!
Now that we are Michigan residents, it’s nice to only be a three hour drive away.
One thing I can always count on up here is fresh produce. Even at almost 96 years old, she still keeps up a garden! Soon after we arrived, she had an impressive spread ready for us.
My favorite part was the homemade applesauce using the apples from her trees and the homemade pickled cucumbers, celery, and onions. She always has something refreshing to add to meals.
After a long day, a decent drive, and a hearty dinner, we were all ready to call it a night. Scott and I bunked together in the back room with Roadie. Can you guess which one was his bed? He may or may not be completely spoiled.
It’s beautiful but breezy up here! At a brisk 68 degrees, it’s not quite the Michigan summer I remember… but it’ll do. 😉
This morning started off with homemade blueberry pancakes.
Trying my best to stay as clean as possible with my eating… even here… I skipped the bacon, butter, syrup, and topped my pancake with blueberry Greek yogurt, sliced bananas and blueberries instead. It was just as (if not more) delicious!
After breakfast settled, Scott and I set out for a run and came back five miles later feeling great. I guess that’s one thing I appreciate this weather for.
Like the pose?! (I just let him go.)
We spent the rest of the morning chatting on the porch and became quite entertained watching Roadie with first river experience. He started out balancing on sticks to avoid in, then eventually dove in and loved it.
Now we are on our way to the city and enjoy the vineyards!
I’ll check back in when I can find more service. Until then, Happy Weekend! 🙂

Aw. I guess there are some things I would miss about it if I moved away, now that I have lived in it! Maybe not the cold… but the views!
